Glad this popped up and I re-listened. We need to enshrine these "also rans" like the late/great Bill Phillips in a new hall of fame since they are being denied admittance into the existing one. Perhaps it could be called" THE PEOPLE'S CHOICE COUNTRY MUSIC STAR SHRINE where we could stick these great neglected artists in, by popular vote. If I had the money, I would build it and finance the entire project myself!
From the opening tune on the pedal steel guitar, you know this is going to be good one! This would have been a good one also for Gary Stewart; perhaps he did sing it somewhere along the line. But I like Bill Phillips voice much better; he sounds somewhat like Gary, but without all his un- natural and aggravating quavering and forced/shaky vibrato.👍👏😀😀
Milt I wanted to be a p steel player my whole life,By luck&fate I got one in 1981 by the time I got good enough to play for someone they were no longer wanted by bands they wanted keyboards instead and the ones that did play were for pop groups😡. I have some Hank on my channel. Thanks Bill
Thanks to Milton - Mookie or whoever he is I;m here and have listened to this gorgeous song/ voice..pure talent! Thanks Pat for having it! Sharing to our group!
Pure classic country and western A great follow up song to "Your judged by the Company you Keep" which I enjoyed in the later 60's. I'm so happy I discovered Bill on youtube. Thank you for posting
