I remember in the episode where Grim showed the gang their futures. And Mandy having basically obtained immortality and pretty much enslaved all of humanity decided to create an entire cloning base dedicated to Billy(probably died) just so he could keep her company.
Mandy's feelings towards Billy are so interesting. She might seem like a one-dimensional hate filled character, but it's weird to think for some reason out of anyone, she actually cares about Billy. A lot of times any other character from a show that's portrayed as hateful as Mandy, they'd probably let Billy get hurt and wait for him to return but Mandy will actually go out of her way to keep Billy safe. It's so endearing and kinda refreshing to see that of character portrayal. It's not in your face, but your really gotta pay attention.
It is so suprising to me that so many people only realised that Mandy cared about Billy with the movie... i mean, come on, it was very clear. Mandy may be one of the most misunderstood characters ever.
I think part of it is that billy acknowledges mandy's flaws, and has the gonads to stand up to mandy when no one else would dare. He just genuinely _likes_ mandy and thinks of her as a friend, rather than an opponent or a threat. Mandy's never had anything like that before; everyone she's ever met fears her, or just obsessively worships/submits to her (Irwin) she protects billy because he treats her like a human, and not like a deity or devil, and to lose him would be to lose her own humanity.
Yep, they play it pretty low key but she never actually outright denies Billy's affection or advances. Theres comedic slapstick or reactions but never a no. You also notice ALOT of the series takes place at Billy's house and rarely Mandy's. I'd wager shes so starved for love just being near Billy and his family is very important to her. I remember in "keeper of the reaper" her parents flat out say they are more afraid of her then love her. Say what you will about the craziness of the Billy's household but Harold and Gladys love Billy. Sprinkle ontop how immensely kind Billy is to her and hes basically irreplaceable to her. The horrible truth is I really think she needs him more than he needs her. Billy is downright lovable but Mandy is VERY Abrasive. This series is honestly one of the few where the characterization of its cast never really breaks.
Yeah she and harold feel pretty stand out amongst the cartoon parents at the time. Where others might just seem crazy or stupid but deep down do have what it takes ro care for their kid…its chronic poorly suppressed mania for Gladys and absolute buffoonery from Harold. No true connections rekindled, no learning to respect your elders.
@@solus8685 Well I am one but I'm very expressive and talkative to the few people in my inner circle. Otherwise the most you'd get from me in public is a monotone "Hey" 😂
@@decristal48 You mean like how Princess Bubblegum from Adventure Time doesn't care that her candy people are so stupid, even though it's a serious problem? Take the episode Root Beer Guy for example, she had this test set up for the Banana Guards to (if I recall) test the Candy Kingdom's new security system. But unfortunately, PB didn't knew that her Banana Guards were too stupid to solve the mystery on their own while Root Beer Guy did all the work for them.
“Who’s this pathetic, lonely, desperate, desperate, desperate, desperate, desperate, desperate creature?” Man, the fact that she said “desperate” six times shows how lowly she thinks of Billy.🤣
@@CrystalRose1111 Oh, well I kinda meant that no girl would go out with Billy, because he's a complete moron, but now that you say it. Mandy's the only female friend Billy has and Mandy doesn't really have any other friends herself, so you got a point there.😂
Mandy doesn't hate losing Billy, Mandy hates losing *control.* Edit: I suppose she also hates losing Billy, as evidenced by the scene where she thinks he actually might not survive for once. We just don't get to see much that she cares about losing him (due to misadventure) because she never actually thinks it'd happen, because "Billy's always fine".
@@nprok6835 it isn't a far reach tho. U mustve not seen Billy and Mandy's big boogey adventure. Where billy gets taken by a squid I think. And she stares into the water sad about it.
But Billy has other male friends and she does not seems to give a crap about, yet, Mandy is his only female friend, and what happened with Dora is a huge clue of what has been going on, she gets in the way to push other girls away from him, thats pure, raw, jealousy. But even if you see it as "maintaining your place in power" you have to accept that it is inevitable that Billy will start pursuing other girls and he will give less and less attention to her. There is no way that she can mantain that control she has over him from her position as a friend for much longer. The Blandy episode is a clear example of this, at any time she is not following him, that may happen, and then she will be unable to do anything about it other than let it run his course.
@@shivanSpS Billy's current friends are clearly not a threat. Mandy probably sees girls as more of a threat because if Billy gets a romantic interest in someone, it is generally more of a threat than a platonic interest. Mandy would probably have the same reaction if he made a friend who began to consume his time, but I think she's more afraid of girls because of the potential of a romantic interest that will naturally consume his time and interest. I'm not quite sure how to phrase it.
@@SraTacoMal I understand, it just that it does not seems to fit with other things she did. Like when she just allows him to go to Blandy, if it was about power there is no way she had allowed that, but she just accepted it and let him go. Or when she let Billy go dance academy, what would mean losing him forever, yet, she asked him if this was what he wanted to do and accepted it. Im petty sure i can find more examples if i have time to remember more episodes.
Homeboy, that’s still jealousy, not in a romantic sense, but envying someone because they hold a greater position than you did is quite literally the definition of jealousy.
But why would someone concerned with raw power want to have dominion over Billy, who is almost always a setback? That's why people think she actually cares for him.
I don't think mandy has romantic feelings towards billy, however I'm sure she really cares for him, mainly because he's the only one that isn't afraid of her and treats her like he'd treat anyone else. So I think that even if mandy would never admit it, she really sees billy as her friend. edit: holy shit 5000 likes????? how did that happened? thank you guys
It is clear that they are friends and that they do care a lot of each other. Even trought some people still doubt this, this is very clear. It just that Mandy reactions to having other girls near Billy is a huge hint there. No to mention the show drops HUGE hints about them, like Grim shipping them, they miss each other when the other is not around (Mandy hides this but in the Super Zero episode it was made clear), a judge almost married them, even Billy proposed to her... i mean yeah, they are friends, now.... they are still just kids. And Mandy reactions to someone telling her that Billy is her boyfriend are not normal at all, she just tries to ignore it, kids at that age tend to react saying "NO" even when its true. She never said no to that, even when Billy proposed to her and told her exactly this: "it is time for two people who love each other to enter a bound in matrimony"... i mean, he just said that he loves her and that she loves him, thats A LOT, yet she never said no. She does not behaves like this with Irwin.
if you look at the fact that mandy enjoys being the smartest in the room and that she prefers being in control and considered the superior so her relationship with billy makes more sense considering he is the dumbest, the inferior and since billy never takes control its pretty much always for mandy to take
That works only because Billy allows it and he likes it to be that way. Billy is the only one that has been show to face Mandy when he doesnt want to do something. And i think Mandy likes that too, except when its too much and she gets pissed, like in the Bobby episode.
@@shivanSpS if you look at billy's parents its actually pretty similar to how they are as long as dad's okay his mom has all the power (before grim drove her crazy but thats excusable)
Anyone else find it creepy that even though Gladys and Harold were reverted to the same age, they still retained their memories as adults while oblivious to who the other was?
Mandy: *acts like she hates everyone and everything* Also Mandy when Billy gets involved with other girls: *hippity hoppity let me remind you’re my property*
Mandy relationship with Billy is about control. Billy is her toy or pet he entertains her . With somebody so intelligent and monstrous she gets bored and billy brings her some semblance of entertainment. Plus he is property and a psychopath like her doesnt like losing wat is theirs.
@@guilhermehank4938 wait, wasnt there an episode that show Billy was the first one to engage friendship with Mandy when they were just baby? Mandy isnt even interested but Billy keep annoying her to the point they become "friends"
Mandy is secretly afraid of being alone, which is why she’s so protective of Billy and always wants him saved on adventures. Because Billy is the only one who would stick by her without being forced like Grim.
"Let Billy choose who dominates him"....I watched this as a kid and still found it weird Edit: Some people really cant take a joke, no need to take it so rough
Its suppose to be weird in the fact that no one should be wanting to control Billy's life to such an extent, but then it gets worse when people interpret it as a sexual thing lol
Mandy appreciates Billy. I imagine the first time they met Billy annoyed the shit out of her and she beat his ass. Being Billy he is totally unfazed and continues trying to be her friend. That's why Mandy appreciates him so much. She had no friends and Billy pretty much forced her to be his friend and she didn't realize how much she needed one. He's not as dumb as he puts on, either. He has a weird savant thing going on and is vital to a lot of Mandys plans being the muscle (or more accurately a shield). In return she does her best to keep him out of trouble and keep others from exploiting him.
Unfortunately many women are like that now: they won’t be with a man and be his girl, and constantly belittle him/tell him he’s got no chance with her, but then they _also_ block their chances with other women to keep them feeling alone and unloved and unworthy of any woman So basically they’re enjoying when they’re making someone else miserable. What a sadistic thing to do to a person
I know psychology said that we might end up marrying someone who reminds us of our parents but...wow .... That's one way to put it ... Such competitive spirit between these two... And AGAINST EACH OTHER!? Whoa...
This show aged like fine wine. As an adult everything is much funnier now that I can fully appreciate it. The twisted slapstick comedy never misses. I wish adults got more animated shows like this that can be humorously sadistic without relying on overused vulgarity or offensive shock humor.
Billy matters to Mandy; Mandy is arguably either hated or feared by endsville's residents, but Billy is arguably the closest person to her. Mandy keeps Billy safe and makes sure that Billy is ok, going as far as to be protective when the situation calls for it.
Mandy is like the big sister who dislikes their younger brother but loves them with all their heart and got stuck babysitting with the babysitter who’s not actually doing his job a.k.a. Grimm
Maybe she does have feelings for him. But that toxic kind, where she won’t let him be around other girls because she’s the alpha female and no one challenges her superiority.
i think in mommy fiercest it wasn't so much jealousy as someone actually threatening to question mandy's absolute authority that she got confrontational.
That one part where little Harold and Corn--I mean, Gladys, were near the bathroom was so sweet. Especially when Harold said, "I love you just the way you are!"
MK x Billy and Mandy just sounds amazing. I can imagine the story being something like Billy and Mandy's souls being of high value due to their connection to Grim so Shang kidnaps one of them(likely Billy) and somehow it plays into some larger threat which causes Raiden to confer with Grim and Mandy. Shang could even enlist Boogie to his side or even Him from Powerpuff girls since the shows reside in the same universe
Well, she has been show to get worried and fight back when Billy gets too close to other girls. The Mommy Fiercest episode is a full episode of Mandy fighting for Billy and defaults back to "not care anymore" when the threat is removed. It is very clear that there are feelings there she is fighting off, because she belives that makes her weak.
I was new at the worst times and ngl, even tho I was and still am a huge introvert, it would’ve been nice to have someone like Billy who’s being legit when they’re excited to meet a new kid
Man just watching this video just through me into a loop of nostalgia I remember when I was young watching Billy and Mandy it was one of my favorite shows of all time but if you're a true fan you know Mandy's definitely there for Billy even though she bullies him from time to time ❤️❤️ it's that type of friendship where there like siblings
Srsly her attitude in that episode reeked of projecting and jealousy. Especially since they only ever said billy was in love, they never said the girl liked him back or anything. Yet Mandy jumped to insulting the girl
This honestly makes sense for Mandy, she might have seem him as a person to do whatever she says but we can tell and she shows that deep down she actually does care for Billy legitimately. Even in the one she takes over the world she admits it and makes sure to have plenty of back up billies so she would never be without his company
