Communism and eatimg bill gates bugs for you but for the rich and powerful he shares the same secret religion with - no, only the finest steak on luxury yachts will continue.
Britain is a physical entity. England, Scotland and Wales are constructs. This is incontrovertible. And what is English identity Billy? I am from the North East and feel more cultural affinity with Scotland than Southern England...
For me, a Billy fan for over 30 years, his greatest influence on me has been to question and modify. But I fear for others esp younger generations and going into the future, they will take this song as a call to arms , with an aim to destroy everything. The Union Jack stands for far greater good than bad. Genuinely dangerous times
I'm American, I'm a 28 year old truck driver and I'm a huge fan of Billy Bragg. In the short term I am a pretty standard Progressive Justice Democrat but in the long term i dream of Fully Automated Luxury Communism. I am opposed to violent revolution as anything but an absolute last resort because I place a huge value on all human lives, and I see no violent revolt that won't be a total humanitarian disaster. My hope is that over the next few decades we can peacefully transition over as emerging technologies start to allow for such a society to exist
@@KingBrandonm sadly, it will take the revolution you hope for, violent or otherwise, for people to fully realise the false hope it offers. It will truly be a dystopia, with famine, repression of action and thought. Interesting that you mention a Fully Automated Luxury Communism (I assume your serious, but it sort sounds like your taking the piss too… I can’t tell). Marx alluded to that. After the proletariat ‘takeover’ the new economy will head towards peak output with a completely undefined ‘new system of technological abundance’. (My quote marks as emphasis only) It all depends on what you think your either missing out on, or what you think others are getting easier that you I guess. Being a truck driver with youth on your side in possibly the greatest country (freedoms, living conditions, security, peaceful) the world has ever seen is beyond fortunate. You country, while yes having issues internally and externally has still been an overwhelming positive ing the world since it’s inception Ponder the enormous shit hole the world would still be without England and the US, and England I’m particular (before the Uk). Incredible civilising influence on the entire world Anyway, much of the lefts complaints about the systems they thrive in and under is inexplicable
@@eddiej9733 And i agree, America can become what it was promised to be. I've always believed that the Founders of America could not have been stupid enough to think we achieved Liberty when America was forned. I believe that they intended every successive generation to bring us closer to the values we were founded on.
Hey Billy. There's this whole working class movement around the world this month. You may have heard about the Canadian truckers and the convoy for freedom. Can they call on your support against oppressive government in the pockets of pharmaceutical multinationals?
@@duality5503 I mean I'd say making the insanely rich pay higher taxes to improve infrastructure and assisting trade unions is going to help the working class a whole lot more than privatising public services and union busting
Lol Pat King and Pierre Poiliviere are not part of any "working class movement" I acknowledge. The convoy movement were basically Tea Party 2.0... being working class and loud doesn't mean you're class conscious 🙄
