WOW. What a Legend! I think I read once that Anna did not want Sophia because she didn't want the audience to think she had a daughter that old! Sophia was nearly 30; Anna 60. I remember she once said she loved and married Ponti because as they grew old they would have things in common as they came from the area and knew the same people, shops, etc. She said if she'd married Cary they would not have that and would drift apart. I love her, and her movies, but i don't think she really deserved the Honorary Oscar in 1991, she's only really made about 20 decent movies, I think Angela Lansbury was more deserving of it.
