I'm just more than happy I grew up in the ultimate heyday talents of Billy Crystal during the 1980s and 90s as a teen. A comedy genius of the stand-up skit. One of those few major celebrities you've never heard anyone say a bad word on.
I wish Billy would consider hosting the Oscars once more. He is so funny watching him in the 90's brought back many memories. He is the best host they ever had!
Octavio A There was no opening monologue at the Oscar show this past Spring. Because of “political correctness,” nobody apparently wanted to “rock the boat.” That was sad, because opening monologues like Billy’s are such an important part of that show. Don’t know what point you’re trying to make.
I'm so empress about this guy Not too many people can do that specifically when you know the whole world is watching you...if anyone see this guy give him my regards thank you
I LOVE THE OSCARS EACH YR.. a classy show.........but I love Billy Crystal even more...NO ONE can top him when it comes to Oscar monologues..........no one...I had the honor of working with him on Mr. Saturday Night and felt so lucky
Ahh, no one hosted or will host the Oscars quite like Billy. His relationship and interaction with the audience (aka Hollywood) set him apart and showed his great, albeit irreverent, affection for the film business. It endeared him to everyone and set a trust base, assuring them that his riffs were all in good fun.
Billy crystal is so god damned amazing. He should host every show. He just gets it all around. Total obvious film buff and so ridiculously funny. What is wrong with the oscars?!?! They should ask him to host every year!!!!!
When Billy hosted the Oscars, it was a treat and one of the reasons there was at least one family member (namely Nanny) watched as well....well, at least his famous Oscar medley.
I swear I'll never get enough of Billy's corny opening numbers... cos he knows they're corny, he's hamming it up and he clearly get's how stupid it is to do a big song about all the nominees so he has fun with it. I mean come on, the man did a Brady Bunch parody, that's just awesome
As the Golden Globes this year proved, gone are the days of Award Ceremonies like this. No more style. no more class. Sigh...oh Billy, come back!! Come back!
As Billy writes in his magical memoir Still Foolin' 'Em, he was reluctant to host again after a three-year break. He finally agreed after Academy present Gil Cates sent him a package containing a prop horse's head with a note attached saying: "If you want to see the rest of the horse alive, do the fucking show."
I feel like on one end of the spectrum of award show hosts you have cynical comics like Ricky Gervais, and on the other side you have Billy Crystal. Funny, warm, talented and always respectful. A class act.
I hope that Billy will host the Oscars again some day. They're doing yet another hostless show this year, so I really hope that he'll do the 2022 Oscars!!
The part about Jerry Maguire and tom winning was cause apparently Tom was the only likely Oscar win for Jerry Maguire as apparently they did not have faith in winning writing or picture or supporting since Ed norton win in Golden Globes, however Cuba Gooding jr won oscars so.
my god, after almost hundred times watching this video, i just realize that Meg Ryan was sitting behind Peter Fonda!! why didn't they just close-up Meg Ryan also, she was Billy's co-star in the famous When Harry Met Sally...
The greatest "Emcee" the Academy Awards have ever had in it's long history. Would really love to see him return for one last hurrah. Should've called him up last month to do the host-less Oscars 2019. He has said he would've done it.
