I did! One of the most impressive works of art I've seen on RU-vid or anywhere. Deeply moved by the sincere love and affection for Ali in Billy's tribute.
This video means a _lot_ more to me than it did when I first saw it, especially the part where "Ali" (Billy doing Ali's voice) said, "It's _never too late to start ALL OVER AGAIN!"_ Because at 49, I was unemployed, and frustrated. But, I went thru a training course with Goodwill, and got a job at Target as a "Front of Store Attendant." (Basically bringing carts in from outside, and doing anything else needed)--and, it gave me the chance to start all over again.
@@shawshank178 Thank you mate! 👍Now that I have my job (and celebrated my 4-year anniversary back on March 26 of this year), like I said before, I was able to "start all over again." And now life is good.
@@DrLA-db8kk Sorry I didn't say this before, but _good luck!_ Just keep Crystal's words (as Ali) in mind, like I do: "It's _never too late to START ALL OVER AGAIN!"_
@@robertbruce1552 You "Robert Bruce" described them as "brothers" hence I asked you as to how you define brothers such that a Jewish man and Muslim man are brothers. Blood brothers? As human brothers"? Unless of course, I misunderstood or misinterpreted your statement.
Seriously, one of the greatest videos on RU-vid. What a performance. Made even better by seeing Ali's face throughout. Kudos to Billy Crystal. What a tribute to the Champ.
That night muhammed ali went back stage and hugged him and whispered in his ears"you made my life better than it is and you are my little brother " up till the end of Muhammad Ali's life still called him little brother. This is a story of legends.
I remembered I was a little kid, my dad use to wake up at 3am to watch Ali’s fight, because of time difference,we were 8 hours ahead of the United State or 11 hours behind Manila Philippine, my dad was a diehard Ali’s fan. Actually the entire country of Morocco was in love with Ali, may Allah rewards him with paradise, Amen 🙏
This just proves how close these two were for many many years. Billy nailed it and Ali loved it. Hugging him backstage and saying he made his life greater than it actually was. Huge compliment from the Greatest of all time. RIP Ali.
I have a new found respect for Billy Crystal. Brilliant, thoughtful, and powerful performance. No wonder Ali started calling "little brother" after watching this.
Wow! Now that was stunning. No wonder why Johnny Carson was calling Crystal on the phone after first seeing him when he was unknown. And, "Little Brother," Ali liked to call Crystal, who in turned called Ali, "Big Brother."
This is so awesome. Sitting here alone as the clock hits 12.00 midnight for the New Year 2019 and watching this makes me very happy for the lesson learned at the end. Great night. Long live the Greatest, Muhammed Ali.
@Richard Head By coward you mean the guy who speaks poorly of a dead person while hiding behind a fake name and photo? Although I will say the name is perfect for a d***Head like you.
I saw this, back when it aired (1979). I had just graduated (or was about to graduate) high school. So nostalgic... Crystal's performance, in a word: MAGNIFICENT !! Cheers.
The only man that could have ever done that, not just in 1979 but of all time! Thankyou Billy Crystal and thankyou Champ! Imitation is indeed the sincerest form of flattery!
Billy's great, Ali was great...this was awesome. Didn't even know this was here till I watched Ali's memorial. That was awesome too. Thank you Mr. Crystal!
Billy and Ali truly had an amazing, beautiful, wonderful friendship.....Ali always loved his "little brother" and Billy always loved his"Champ"..Champ was too good to walk on this earth,he's flying with Angels now....RIP MA😢😭
This was so good I watched it twice. Two of my favorite people in it together. One at the beginning of their career, and the other at the end. Beautiful symmetry.
I love Billy Crystal's passion HONORING the greatest Heavyweight Champion of all time; Muhammed Ali!!! I followed Muhammed Ali's career starting @ 4-years old when He WON GOLD in Rome. Ambassador of PEACE!!!
PRICELESS!!! so thankful we have these tapes of important times in our lives..Ali WAS the greatest. I'm a woman and 69 YO. I used to anticipate seeing him fight. He was beautiful to watch and DID float like a butterfly and sting like a bee.
Trust me, at the time on radio In the early hours (time difference) it was electrifying to hear commentary on the radio. That static and fading loss of sound of boxing commentaries of Ali, I was in awe and god smacked when I eventually saw this colossus fighting on TV. Only the second time I saw him fight after my old man lauded him as a beacon for the black world did Ali get knocked down and beaten by Smoking Joe Frazier. My mother just told me this very night and I was stunned to hear she has never watched boxing since that time. 50 years!! How he had such an effect.
Amazing performer and man. There is no comparison when you have to overcome something to be something. He did Ali justice and that was just a glimpse of his Greatness.
Ali... the king. Crystal proved he was important to ALL of us. Aside from that VERY important footnote, he was also the very best boxer of all time in any division WHEN he was at his best. At his best, he was the best.
Mighty and humble respect between two men of character, of compassion, a celebration of rejoicing in our differences and our common selves. Respect and love.
Chill's i got when i watched this, oh how it brought back so many memories for me being a young kid , listening to the fights on the radio or the word being pass though the street. God those were the days
