Somebody was writing about how Billy Idol said he got the idea for this song. It was at his sister's wedding and she happened to be pregnant at the time. He said that was no big deal but it reminded him of the shotgun marriages of the past. Now for a bit of a twisted take on this, obviously there's more to the story than in the song he ended up writing. And I always did think he was actually referring to his sister and not his sis-tah. I do think Billy Idol was imagining something a little deeper and darker than he admitted to. There seem to be some incestuous overtones in the sexual way he's talking down to his little sister now and her new "little husband." Like, you know I've been gone, but you also know we've shared a lot of beds together growing up and that I'm the one you really want. I'm the one you dream of and you'll be soon enough crawling back into my bed like you did the last time. (I also image this isn't her first time at the alter, which accounts for some of his cynicism. But rather she's as disturbed as the guy in the song is.) He's saying that her idea of a happy marriage is a delusion that won't cover up her past. None of this is to say I think Billy Idol actually thought this about his own sister, just that he let his perversions out for a little walk when writing the lyrics. And nobody say I'm projecting!
