I remember one time back in middle school in the 80's, a bully was trying to pick on me. I started taking off my shoes & socks. The other kids were standing around hollering Billy. The bully didn't understand or know about Billy Jack. Bully never did try to pick on me again. I was taking martial arts classes at the time. My dad wanted me to take them because it taught about patience & discipline. Not to go around & start fights. When I look back I'm glad I took martial arts. It did teach me patience & discipline.
my grandfather taught me . i was a little boy and my mother had put me in a private school full of wealthy kids and i was from working class low middle income folks . it was a recipe for disaster . i was in a fight 2-3 times a week . until the headmaster , who blamed all of it on me made the huge mistake of whoopin me because of it and not the other kids who started it to begin with . my grandfather found out and showed up at that headmasters office , right on time . he was just about to whoop me and my grandfather walked in . he told that headmaster while he had him by the throat . i have no problem in you spankin BOTH boys . but if i ever find out AGAIN you whooped my grandsons butt and not the ones who really started it , then im going to whoop YOU in front of the entire staff .
i never got whooped by him again , and i went to public school the next year . that summer i learned how to fight ! the correct way . grandpaw taught me .
As a 10 year old kid Billy Jack was a God. I saw the movie in the theater over 20 times. It played in Baltimore area theaters for over 18 months. They used to advertise in the paper how long it had been running. Billy Jack was THE ORIGINAL BLOCKBUSTER MOVIE. History will remember Tom Laughlin & Billy Jack both. Thanks Tom. Rest in Peace.
Loved Tom Laughlin! He was a passifist but faught when he needed to! Actually a real vet that saw the injustice in the world for the Indians and anyone fighting for right!! Rip Tom!!
granted, this movie was made in the mid to late '70s, maybe even early 80s. I remember seeing most of these movies at the theaters when I was a kid. To think about the injustice today is completely OUTRAGEOUS! Back then, it was considered action-adventure; today it is CIVIL UNREST!!!! We are all equal and all human; treat us as such!!! This is still today one of my favorite movie series; unjust as it is; I love Tom Laughin and Billy Jack!!!!!
Bong Soo Han (Han Bong-Soo)...My teacher was friends with him when I was 24/7 in KTA. He only taught Hapkido to his upper level students. His Mantra was, "Touch and Broken". It's been 40+ yrs and I still remember those lessons...
I like all of the Billy Jack movies. Tom McLaughlin can really kick some butt. If there was a way I like to see Tom McLaughlin team up with Bruce Lee. I'm sorry Tom McLaughlin and his real life wife in the movies had died.
sad that nothing much has changed today, Billy Jack stood up to the evil in his part of the world, what a lot of people are missing is that love will win in the end, hate will never beat people with love in their hearts, come on people learn how to love your neighbor, Billy Jack rip
I had the privilege to study under Grand Master Bong Soo Han back in the 70's. When he did that spinning heel kick while I held the mitt, he would knock me to the ground just hitting my hand!
My favourite part; HAPKIDO par excellence! I guess you all know the sidekick is the honorable Hapkido GM Bong Soo Han (RIP). Thanks for posting, peace to you all, Fred.
Billy Jack fought for those who could not fight for themselves. He hated bullies, as do I. We are now involved in a fight for our nation against left-wing bullies. Stand tall and don't give in.
Billy jack brings us back into the days where men were men,not sis gender¡!!! Under the Biden-harris Regime Americans are fighting to stay above food shortages, supply chain ,& a Government Hell bent on destroying America as a whole!! Billy can take me back when we weren't watching Russia bomb the Ukraine!! Time machine take me back!!! Billy Jack your still the Man!! Rip ❤️😎✌️
More like save our nation from White conservative bigots who support White Nationalists that storm the Nations capitol in an effort to overturn a free democratic election.
Me an everyone I knew loved Billy Jack and how he "expressed" his "righteous indignation. I'm convinced he movies are also the root of pacifist liberalism. Like in real life military, Billy Jack served as the good against evil and protector of those who just want to live in peace.
Throughout my youth it was Tom Laughlin, not Bruce Lee, who was my cinematic idol and he was such an underrated able to do it all Actor, Producer, Director and Writer...
The fight scenes in "Trial" made it much more obvious that Bong Soo Han was the stunt double for the park fight scene in "Billy Jack." Which, in my opinion, was the most realistic and true-to-life martial arts fight scene ever choreographed. Tom Laughlin tried his best to do his own Hapkido in the follow-up film, but was unable to display the skillset Billy Jack showed in the original. But, more important, the character of Billy Jack played a key role in my growth as a person during those difficult teen years. Thank you Tom Laughlin and Delores Taylor.
Of all the fighters I've seen Billy Jack took no prisoners , fighting is a decisive art , the one who weelds this ability finishes a fight , their is simply no chance for the opposition .
I love Billy Jack that's what got me into Karate in the 80's, that and The Green Hornet. And then a good friend took me to a HAPKIDO class in the 70's Michigan Midwest area I was always around some good Karate people at least in the seventies we carry that into the eighties and it's a wonderful life never stop doing that even on my old age of 62, lol after 2 hip replacements I'm good. Even Jean Claude Van Damme had a hip replaced but the new technology you're right back at it
Billy Jack is the ONE who invented karate action movies. Yeah you can say the acting was bad etc. . But I grew up watching Billy Jack movies. The fight scenes were actually really well done .. RIP Tom
That feller who took the first fall on top of that car when this all started, almost broke his neck. I heard about the fall he took & when he flipped back he almost broke his neck. He was lucky to say the least. Great action sequence though.
His movies always had a message in them. Tolerance towards other people and never back down from a Bully . Violence should always be the last resort,, is There is a difference between A violent attack and a defensive posture!
The Billy Jack movies were well ahead of their time. I wonder if critics who dissed them in the 70's would have imagined that they would become the bad guys of Billy's Jack's crusade.
That was such a cool movie at the time and it still holds up if you were a fan of it back in the day mainly because he was one of the first antiheroes I really understood.
Right up until his death, Tom Laughlin was working on more Billy Jack movies. He had one sketched out where the kids at the school grew up, and worked in different places like the Peace corps. I think he was going to call Billy Jack and Jean. Too bad he never got to do it. Loved all of them. Yeah the acting was horrible, but the heart was there
As a Cherokee, I can tell you that the injustices and bigotry portrayed in this movie are very real. Growing up in a white world I was subjected humiliation, threats, intimidation and arbitrary violence, all without any more cause than simply being Cherokee. I'm 67 years old and now it's difficult to discern my ethnic heritage by appearance alone. But when I was young I experienced the blind hatred of bigotry. Billy Jack was the only social warrior i knew of that stood up for me and the countless other Native Americans being victimized by ignorant Anglos. All that said, y'all come on down to a Native American gaming ranch, nearest you. You'll have a great time.
My Mother was a full blooded Chawkee shawroo. We never had a problem with Whites. It was with the other Indians that would look down on us because we looked White.
Rest in peace Tom McLaughlin he died the same year has both of my brothers both were veterans we grew up watching him he taught me don't let anybody put their hands on you
When i was a sophmore in high s hool, a kid my age thought he was tough. He didnt likeme, i didnt like him. He challenged me to a fight after school one day and told me to meet him at the park. I did, and we got into it. I got some good li ks in , he got some good ones in. At the end , both of us were tired out. He didnt want to go no furthur and neuther did i. I put my hand out to shake it but he said he didnt shake hands with loosers and walked away. A few days later he came up to me agsin and i thought oh, another challenge ? Another fight? What he said and what he did took me by surprise. I pushed you until i got you to fight me. I respect you for that, and heres my hand. He shook hands with me !! But the best thing happened right there !! We became best friends and we never fought again ! True story !!
I cannot grasp the thought of Tom McLaughlin being dead he was a Hero for people's rights yours and mine such a good movie , may Billy live on in another Lifetime he certainly will be missed by generations of people especially me 😅❤🎉 hats off for him and one helluva a karate chop 🪓🪓🪓🪓🪓😮
I own the boxed set and have nearly worn out the 2nd one. Love them. Tom Laughlin's and Dolores Taylor's daughter is in 2nd & 3rd movies. Her character is Carol.
Actually, she was in three as Carol. Billy Jack, the Trial of Billy Jack, and, Billy Jack goes to Washington. She grew up to be a lovely lady. I understand that now she is a fashion designer.
I'm glad no one has ever tried to remake a Billy Jack movie because they could never top it or do it justice. When the Rock redid Walking Tall it missed for me, so leave Billy alone!
I also grew up with Billy Jack & I love him more today than yesterday, He is more relevant today than yesterday. As a "Half Breed Cherokee" & damn proud of it, The USA needs a "Billy Jack" & the Jewtard, Sheldon Adelson, AIPAC owned Trump is not it..Where the Hell is Billy Jack when we need him??
Bong Soo Han was a 9th Dan in Hapkido, there are only 2 other famous practitioners of Hapkido that I know of that are 9th dan level in Hapkido and that is Jae Han Jae who has appeared in a few martial arts movies and was in the unfinished martial arts movie Bruce Lee's Game Of Death and Hwang In Shik he was in Bruce Lee's Way Of The Dragon playing the part of a Japanese martial artist even though he was Korean
aspenrebel - Really? Not the Mclaughlin character. He telegraphed his slide kick badly. Actually seen just to standard simple routines in this scene that would be exclusive to hapgido. Most is below black belt level Kung fu Tae Kwon Do or Karate. One little hand defense there but poor. I doubt he ever studied Martial arts past being shown a few simple kicks setup for the camera. And maybe he did but he was nothing special. A knee to the face sends a 250 pound man flying back crashing. Naw. Most likely would result in a possible broken nose and the guy grappling. OK toward the end he does a knife defense taught to green belt Hapgido students and another. The rest naw.
I really enjoyed the Billy Jack films and Tom Laughlin was excellent in that role, but I sure wish he would've used one of those massive kicks on Jean! She was about nauseating!
@@toecutter1015 In the original Billy Jack, after Jean is raped by Bernard, she has a monologue. None other than Marlon Brando said it was the finest performance he had ever seen.
The real art in all the movies that have these kind of scenes is not hurting each other. Besides making it real you can't knock the shit out of each other for real. Much respect for all
Billy Jack was a brawler, he atood up for people who couldn't atand for themselves. Some people think he wasn't peaceful but he was a lot more peaceful than they thought. I have learned in life that strong people don't going their weight around. They may make jokes about things that that have happen, but they never throw their weight around. They'll smile, be happy at the times they helped someone in need and was to help someone in need as well being glad to be able to do it. Being remembered is not about being someone everyone worshiped, it's about being able to make it happen and just remembering people who helped to make it happen. It's about them having so much love that they wanted no one to suffer.
Grew up watching these movies Tom L. was awesome I always wanted to do the wop you on your face statement and set up kick but never had the right chance would have been cool though lol!
On the dvd set of these movies, Tom Laughlin said that when the one guy at the start of the fight scene went out the window & landed on top of that car, he almost broke his neck, from the way he landed. If you watch this clip again, you'll see what he meant. Still, these were great movies. I just watched Born Losers the other night on dvd.
@@aspenrebel Yeah, so sad how all the ones our generation grew up watching are passing away. Means we're getting old I reckon. But still, its still sad we're losing all these great actors N such.
Cartman doesnt like hippies either. They didnt need to throw in the asian dude though. Takes away a little. Especially the double dude kick. Then he effed up and got shot
