Question from a colleague: On 0:32, there is the chord “Gmaj9/A”. Of course, this is a dominant-V to the following chord “Dadd2”, but how would you name it as such? In other words, if you were to name it as an “A-something”, what would you do? (I usually go by “A13sus”, although it looks a bit weird...)
I think A13sus4 (or just A13sus) is probably the best way! Gmaj9/A doesn't really immediately indicate that it's an A dominant chord. I feel like the Gmaj9/A notation is more useful in a pedal point situation.
It definitely is a A13sus chord. Its a common voicing both for playing and notation. Its a hybrid chord, and a good pianist would treat this as a sus chord for sure
This is like a mini masterclass in harmony; delicious. It's almost like cheating because you've given us all those golden nuggets he plays in reharmonizing the original (which is already a great tune by itself). Appreciate the work.

Just skimming through, it looks like there are multiple chords that fit this description since the densest voicings all contain 8 voices. Maybe I missed a 9 note voicing?
