You have inspired more people than you will ever know. You showed people what you can do with normal tools and a welder. Motorcycle Mania was a great show and Jesse is obviously a great talent, but the average person doesn't have access to those kind of tools. I built my first bike after watching the first biker build off. Wasn't great, but it was something that I built myself. I still one of your books from about 15 years ago. Thank you for showing us what can be done with heart and determination.

Biker Build Off was my favorite show back in the day!! Living in Florida since 1980, I remember watching you for the first time, and thinking WOW this guy is really good, and he's local. I'm still amazed at how quickly you guys could put together a custom motorcycle, and not only make it look incredible, but ride it long distance to the show. The 1st Build off definitely changed my life. Watching you bend metal over your leg to make the tank showed me at 19-20 years old, that a guy didn’t need special tools to do metal work. We met at an Easyriders event in San Diego I think it was 05 or 06. You were really cool, we overheard where the whole crew was staying and hung out at the hotel bar with everyone and had a blast. You pushed Warren down the ramp on a luggage cart, it was hilarious. People always say don’t meet your heroes, but for me, you were the exception to that rule.

Awesome, it was you and Larry, and the Biker Build Off that really started me wanting to build bikes, not just work on them, which I do to this day, for a little custom shop, over here in the UK, in fact I'm just starting to gather all the bits for my next personal bike, which will have a few Billy Lane / Indian Larry inspired twists. Aaaaand I still have my original Choppers Ink denim Chore Coat, which still gets worn with pride... Keep building Billy, you, along with Indian Larry have been an important influence in my life, would love the chance to meet you one day, especially if you ever visit the UK................ This video brings back early childhood memories for me. I was 10 when this show came out. It was one of my favorite shows to watch with my dad. I remember I started drawing sketches of chopper ideas soon after watching this show for the first time. I didn’t think they were any good but my mom encouraged me to send them out. I sent them to the Martin Brothers mainly because I was a twin and had a connection to them being brothers building bikes together. But I remember them reaching out sending some hats and posters and stuff with a cool little note, that will always stand out to me. My favorite episode was with you and INDIAN LARRY tho!! At least in the early days reality television was really just a documentary series & that is why it was good to watch. That has gone away a long time ago and now it is the fakest thing on TV and that included cartoons. The only way to make a show like biker build off today is to do it on youtube & have everyone film themselves.

That's some really cool insight into how it all happened. I still love to go back and rewatch just about all of them from time to time. Still inspires me to go into the garage and do something. I was on vacation back in those days and the wife wanted to do the whole theme park thing. I said fine but as long as we can go to .. and she stopped me and said I know where you want to go... Well you weren't there but we bough some shirts and I got to see where it happened. Years later at an Easy Rider show I got to finally meet you. With I could find some parts from back in the day for my shovel that I finally was able to get. Every any plans on making some throw back parts?

Always loved your work Billy, would be cool to see a tribute video with you talking about nick fredella after his recent passing, as a lot of us never got to meet him but he seemed like a big part of what you did back in the biker build off days. 🍻

Simply bad ass, man! Thank you for everything you have done for the industry. You were such an influence on me, the shows gave me enough confidence to go to work for my local Harley dealership in Modesto, CA. I was a service mechanic.
