Basic adjustment on Rotax 503 / 582 dual Bing 54 carburetors. Set the basic idle mixture the use two carpenters pencils to set the idle speed adjustment and then slide synchronization. Fast and accurate!
Been flying my 503 Rotax for 22 and 780 hrs. years. Finally the first inclusive easy to follow and believe video on syncronizing my Bing 54 s Most of the time I have used drill bits to set the syncronization. I see the pencils working much better.
should dual carbs be positioned level with the motor or with level flight attitude? The motor tilts way back on a kolb, you have to tilt the carbs forward about 5 degrees to make them level.
Great video. Hi Again Okay I just looked at BRP Rotax online owners manual site and it says the air screw setting is 1.5 turns out on the Bing 54 carb. That is what mine is so should it be 1 turn out from your experience? And how can I tell which adjustment is correct for my engine? My 582 is a grey head manufactured in Aug 1992 Thank you
Okay my 582 grey head upside down is idling rough. I have already rebuilt the Bing 54 carbs with up to date insides. FYI the side thickness on the carpenter pencils are all different too. I bought some and found out that they are all different widths and thickness. If to narrow they don't cradle very well in the bottom of the carb. But nun the less I did everything as you described and my engine still is idling rough below 2800 rpm. I even used a set of motorcycle vacuum gauges and tried to sync that way too and no difference but couldn't get it to idle down to get a steady vacuum reading. Any suggestions as to what I can look at in order to get it to idle smoothly at 2250 rpm? Thank you so much.
@@RotacRepair yes rough below 3000 rpm and smooth to full throttle. I just pulled the carb’s off and they appear to be clean but I have not cleaned all the passages yet. And I will check the floats for bouncy and adjustment. O rings look good and and jets and needle valves. I have to check the clips. I checked the primer valve and it works good and not leaking extra fuel when running
@@RotacRepair great, where can I get my hands on a voltage regulator for a 503,,I tried looking on line but I'm no good with computers,I'm in nova scotia
Hello, the .285 inches and .300 inches is the thickness of the pencils on the narrow or flat side. This is to set the distance from the bottom of the slide to the floor of the carburetor opening. Hope this is helpful.
