In this video, Matt from Tea Angle talks about two Raw Pu'erh teas that have been sourced from the Bingdao region in Lincang, Yunnan. Teas from this region are referred to as being the "Queen" of Pu'erh teas and the two teas were recently featured in the June edition of the Tea Angle Tea Discovery Club.

Great videos, thank you and please keep em coming! I agree with you, as a tea lover/aficionado I would easily pay $5k for a cake of bingdao or banzhang if I had spare cash. After all, we all spend time/money/energy on things we care about. But since I don't and I can't it's not an option for me therefore I don't think about it. (or try not to...😄) The price of the thing is a different game to the taste of the thing. What I really enjoy as an enthusiast who is not a billionaire is discovering incredible tasting teas that are cheap either because it hasn't been discovered or it's not what the market values etc. It makes me feel like I beat the system or something like that...

Yeah that's definitely a fun part of this whole tea journey, to find something that's amazing that others either haven't discovered or, it hasn't caught on for some reason. The annoying part is when it's a tea, or teas that you've enjoyed for the past few years, it's become a part of your daily life, and then seeing it rise in popularity and therefore price year on year. This is something we're seeing happen with Dancong Oolongs for example.

Very informative video. Do you prefer raw or ripe puer?

I like both, but I have to say I drink more raw pu'erh than ripe...so I guess the answer is raw 😁

I think the bitterness is coming from drinking the first wash put on the tea pets unless it’s a green tea. But good video 👍🏽

Not quite. Raw pu'erh teas do tend to have some level of bitterness to it, which isn't a bad thing. I find a key aspect to the raw pu'erh experience is the bitterness, and powering through it to get to the sweet finish on the other side.

Great video, as always! May I ask what notebook you‘re using to keep track of the teas you taste? I use almost the same layout but in a plain notebook.

In the video, I was using a Moleskine Tea Journal www.europeanpaper.com/mbl22-moleskine-passions-tea-journal.html It looks like it's no longer available or is a discontinued product unfortunately. It's a nice looking journal, a little pricey and I'll be honest, because it's so nice, I don't use it as a day-to-day notebook to keep track of most of the teas I try, especially since those tea tasting note pages are limited and make up only a portion of the overall journal. So I really only use this when I'm trying something special :p Thanks for watching 🙏

@@teaangle I knew about the Moleskine Passion Journals but I had no idea they used to make one for tea. I‘m sorry to hear it‘s discontinued. Thanks so much for the reply (and your videos of course, I enjoy them greatly!)
