WandaVision Series Description:
WandaVision is an American television miniseries created by Jac Schaeffer for the streaming service Disney+, based on Marvel Comics featuring the characters Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch and Vision. It is the first television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) produced by Marvel Studios, sharing continuity with the films of the franchise and taking place after the events of the film Avengers: Endgame (2019). Schaeffer served as head writer with Matt Shakman directing.
Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany reprise their respective roles as Wanda Maximoff and Vision from the film series, with Debra Jo Rupp, Fred Melamed, Kathryn Hahn, Teyonah Parris, Randall Park, Kat Dennings, and Evan Peters also starring. By September 2018, Marvel Studios was developing a number of limited series for Disney+ centered on supporting characters from the MCU films such as Maximoff and Vision, with Olsen and Bettany returning. Schaeffer was hired in January 2019, with the series officially announced that April, and Shakman joining in August. The series pays homage to past sitcoms, with Maximoff and Vision living in a reality that takes them through different decades of television tropes. Filming began in Atlanta, Georgia, in November 2019, before production halted in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Production resumed in Los Angeles in September 2020 and wrapped that November.
WandaVision premiered with its first two episodes on January 15, 2021, and ran for nine episodes, concluding on March 5. It is the first series, and beginning, of Phase Four of the MCU. The series received praise from critics for its recreation of past sitcoms and for the performances of its cast, especially those of Olsen, Bettany, and Hahn, though there was criticism for the finale. It was widely discussed and analyzed by fans based on various popular theories, as well as by commentators for its exploration of grief and nostalgia. The series has received numerous accolades, including 23 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, winning three. WandaVision directly sets up the film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), in which Olsen reprises her role as Maximoff, while a spin-off series is in development, with Hahn returning as Agatha Harkness and Schaeffer writing and executive producing.

All of the "commercials" in WandaVision represent the traumas in her life in chronological order. You have the Stark toaster that beeps like the bomb, various Strucker & Hydra producst (the names of the person & group that did tests on her), you even have the kid who dies before your eyes just like hers, and finally the anti-depressant Nexus which is a nod to the fact that Wanda is a nexus being. This is someone that exists in pretty much all realities. There is always a version of her out there.........

Since Fox owned the X-Men before they were bought by Disney, the ‘Scarlet Witch’ name could not be used within the MCU for legal reasons. This was a huge deal when Agatha announced the name. ‘WandaVision’ is definitely one of the best things to happen for the MCU.

The funny at the beginning makes up for the pain later. The whole seperate beds was because it was too risque to show a couple, even married couple, in bed together. Fun fact, the first instance of a double bed for a couple on TV was the Flintstones The book Wanda took from Agnes that she's reading in the post credit scene was the Darkhold, which played a part in Agents of Shield. It drove people mad. And yes, she's traumatised beyond belief. She was in so much pain from Vision's death, added to all the pain she'd already been through, she retreated into the time when she was happy, watching old tv shows with her parents. Her powers just made it bigger, taking over a whole town. Monica was in Captain Marvel, her mother was Captain Marvel's friend/lover (depending on who you ask).

The one thing I hate people using in arguments about wanda was her knowingly enslaving people of westview, they forget that yes she knew they were under her control but she also thought she was keeping them happy like she was in the hex with her family, but unknowingly until the last episode she finds out that she was making them feel her grief and agony of losing everyone she loved. Thats the reason why she tried to take down the hex and telling everyone to run in the first place.

I think the separate beds thing was because people believed it would look like couples on TV were actively having sex, and that separate beds removed that possibility altogether. It's either that, or they thought it was a fun twist to have married couples sleep separately.

Tommy was just wearing a kid version of Quicksilver’s costume, but still). In the comics, Tommy and Billy were real kids, going by the hero names of Wiccan and Speed. Wiccan was especially important as he is still one of Marvels most iconic LGBTQ characters, having a relationship with the superhero Hulkling (who is the son of a Skrull Princess and a male Captain Marvel)

One of my favorite easter eggs is agent Wu's card magic trick. In Ant Man and Wasp; Scott Lang (ant man) learned close up magic and did the card trick. Wu asked him how he did it , but a magician never reveals his secrets so he didn't say. Later on in the movie, you see Wu at his desk with a video on the computer with that card trick, and now in the series; he is introduced by doing the trick. Also, Wanda getting her full powers, and the last episode of loki matches up perfectly!

Hi ☺️♥️ you were super cool throughout the whole video, I laughed throughout the whole video with you, now yes, I took the time to go looking for all this information to keep you up to date and not be lost for people who didn't see the other movies and such, although you probably already figured out most of the things you were wondering about in the video from the comments, I'll put the facts anyway: (By the way, I got most of the data from the Internet). "In the world of the 60's Wanda appears with a wedding dress and we can see elements that make reference to series like I Love Lucy (from where they take the wedding dress that appeared in the chapter "The Marriage License"). Another of the series of the 50s is I Married Joan, which points to Wanda being the chaotic figure in the relationship, while Vision is a kind of anchor to help her keep calm. We've already seen this in the teasers, after marriage comes children (or pregnancy) and family life, which takes the series back to the 1960s with series like Leave it to Beaver and Bewitched, with Wanda starting to adapt to her role as a housewife and her and vision transforming into a traditional family. At one point Wanda can even be heard receiving a call and saying "Vision Residence", which is a reference to the series in which one of the main characters responded by saying "Cleaver Residence". Leave it to Beaver idealizes the life of suburban families, so it points to Wanda looking to create a perfect life in her new reality. The 1970s references are series like The Brady Bunch, which points to the fact that Wanda and Vision might be looking to create their own unconventional family. On the other hand, this decade is also a sign of Wanda's fragmented mind, as she is also inspired by That 70's Show (with red hair that looks like Donna Pinciotti's character). This series was created in the 90's and was set in the 70's, which hints that Wanda might be starting to suspect that all of this might not be real. The 80's series most clearly shown in the images are Married with Children and Full House. In the 1990s, Wanda seems to take inspiration from the series Roseanne with her wardrobe and home decor, then we move on to the 2000s with series like Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Also the 2000's decade is inspired by "The Modern Family" and "The Office" ("The Office" as the intro and Wanda's camera interaction as "The Modern Family"). -Monica Rambeau is the daughter of Maria Rambeau. -Darcy Lewis is a character who appeared in the Thor movies as Thor's love interest Jane's friend. Jimmy Woo appeared in Ant-Man the Ant-Man and makes a reference to Scott with the card magic because in that same movie he couldn't do it and asked Scott to teach him. - Darcy was probably aware of everything so that's probably why he knew about Monica, Vision and so on, Thor may have told him about them (who knows). - Vision was very weak in "Endgame" so that's probably why he didn't become intangible. - Regarding the Post-credits scene, Wanda was astral mind projected, which allows her to do two things at once without having to be there herself (Like in Doctor Strange). Now yes, Wanda's powers can be looked up on the internet, it's very interesting, and better this way, since you learn and know more about her abilities. Here is a chronology of Wanda's movies (for those who didn't see or don't know much about her and Vision) AOU= Age of Ultron: First appearance of Wanda and Pietro, and also a small scene of Wanda and Vision, it's short but important because here everything starts. CW= Civil War: Interaction between Wanda and Vision, both are in different sides, Vision in Tony's side and Wanda in Steve's side. IW= Infinity War: Here is already more inside the relationship of Wanda and Vision, it is seen that after the events of CW they formed a relationship away from all the chaos and where most already know what happens with Vision. EG: Endgame: Here Wanda takes revenge on Vision against Thanos. What Wanda didn't realize is that she was talking to the old version of Thanos and not the newer one, that's why Thanos didn't know her. WV: Wandavision: after the events of the end of the blip in IW and her return in EG...here begins the whole story that everyone already knows. MOM: or DSITMOM= Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness: after the events of WV (I won't give more details) so I won't spoil it for you guys 😉💕. Sorry for the long comment, I really enjoyed your video anyway, Greetings from Argentina 💙😁

they also couldn't say pregnant but used terms like expecting or bun in the oven. I Love Lucy was the first to show an expectant mother on a major television network.

I liked how you pointed out that shot of them in episode 3 as being a possible poster, because it’s inspired by a specific comic cover where they’re in those poses.

It might be an odd choice, but in my opinion, the second episode, Don't Touch That Dial, is the best episode. It really encapsulates the sitcom feel, the comedy flows better than the first episode, it keeps up the mystery, utilizes color contrasting the black and white world well, and Wanda rocks the 60's look in my opinion. This episode really feels like a masterpiece to me, but so does the show in general.

I even remember which commercial (for the '70s episode) it was. It was mid-70s and it was on ALL the time. It was for Calgon bubble bath, and it ran mostly like shown, except that at the end of all the mishaps, the woman pleads, "Calgon, take me away!"

Nice reactions binging this series, Mello!🎬👏🏽 Wanda is using the Darkhold in the end credit scene to find her children. Television in the 50's and 60's was governed by The Hays Code. Part of this code stated that married couples had to be shown in two separate beds. Agnes speaks about looking for dark liquor for the children, refers to a practice years ago when babies were given some liquor to sleep, usually in their milk. This version of Wanda is not exactly the comic book version. She is inspired by the comic book, meaning they can change things, such as the origin of her powers.

Yes, it was a live audience -they wanted the authenticity. Separate beds were because the 50s it was still shocking to show a couple sharing a bed -marriage didn't change that. (The first movie to show a toilet was Psycho.) The pose you said could be a poster, was their iconic poster shot for the front of a comic lol.

The reason why Wanda’s accent comes is goes is because she was trained by Steve and nat to fight and nat taught her how to hide her accent hence why she sounds different all the time switching accents and that’s also why she’s good at hand to hand combat.

15:50 "That's a nice pose; they could make a poster out of that." Close. It is a recreation of the cover of the first issue of the comic book "Vision and the Scarlet Witch," from the 1980s. I bought that issue back in the day.

You asked for a fave Scarlet Witch comic, I really like one called "The Children's Crusade." It's about her sons (Billy and Tommy, who are also in this show) trying to find her after she has been missing for years. I also love anything with Monica Rambeau, not that you asked about her! So psyched she is going to be in "The Marvels".

In answer to your question about Quicksilver being a jokester, from what I’ve read with him in it he’s not really like that. In general he can be extremely hostile (even and sometimes especially towards other heroes) and rashly rushes into fights more often than not. On top of that he’s a bit snippy with people. But I wouldn’t call him a full-on jokester.

For the second end credit scene. It's the book that's messing with her. The internet has nicknamed the Darkhold The Evil book of Evil. It's a fitting name. There is basically no way to read the darkhold without becoming a villan yourself.

I thought the way they did this show as homage to TV through the decades was brilliant. Never seen a show do that before. And they peppered in enough little hints that something was off. Kept you intrigued for the next episode. I loved the logic argument between Vision and Vision 2.0 as a way of resolving their conflict. Curious to see where his story goes. I've loved Paul Bettany as an actor ever since I first saw him in KNIGHT'S TALE with Heath Ledger. He was funny, bold, and at times very sincere in that role. I recognized that he's brilliant as an actor. I think he's hugely underrated. And he seems a decent person too. That line in this show about grief not being all sorrow because it's just love persevering, gets me every time I think about it. Makes me think of some of the people I've lost. I feel nothing but love from my memories of them. That's one of the things I love about fiction; those moments when you find an absolute truth. If there was one Marvel book I'd recommend reading, it would probably be THE ULTIMATES by Mark Millar (he also wrote KICK-ASS). It's basically a reimagining of the Marvel universe in a 2000s era. They borrowed heavily from it to build the MCU. They made Cap a bit of a badass, Tony was a narcissist, and they got Sam Jackson's permission to use his likeness for their reimagined Nick Fury. The Avengers actually have a conversation in the book about who would play them in a live action movie, and Nick was like, "Sam Jackson would play me, of course." The first two major storylines we're the best. The "season 2" books were not as good. And I see they didn't go with the rampaging "Hulk horny!" storyline from that book for the movies. Shame. Lol. Thanks for doing this series in a binge watch fashion. Please do Netflix's LOVE, DEATH, AND ROBOTS. And if you like shows that really know how to play with aspect ratio, check out SAMURAI JACK. It's a show that the animation style looks abstract and odd at times, but it hides a superb storytelling style underneath all of that. With some of the best animated action scenes I've ever watched. Keep up the good work!

not sure if anyone said this already but when thanos was trying to get the stone out of visions head, the reason he didn’t just phase through it was because when he got stabbed by the blade he said “the blade, it’s stopped me from phasing” so he couldn’t do it then
