Not my usual video, this was supposed to be part of a larger video This is my review and test of the BioLite Charge 40 PD powerbank. If you are in the market for a portable powerbank for charging your cell phones, cameras, headlamps or any camping gear and electronics, then you might want to consider the BioLite Charge 40 PD (PD stands for Power Delivery). This is a great item for camping, traveling and a good backup power source for your phone or any outdoor electronic gear that uses a USB cable. This rechargeable power device has a 10,000 mAh battery. That allows you to fully charge most cell phones around 2 and a half times before the Charge 40 needs to be recharged via USB cable. You can charge up to 3 devices at the same time via 1 USB-C PD port, up to 18W and 2 USB-A Quick Charge Out ports. I have several other powerbank packs by various companies and the BioLite Charge 40 PD has become my new favorite powerbank. This is a great gift idea for traveling, vacations and outdoor enthusiasts #powerbank #campinggear #charging

Being a tech guy, I like these reviews. Thankfully Europe has forced Apple to drop the proprietary Lightning cable for USB C. Future chargers may be universal as a result.

OMG, great news about that. Tired of the Apple products using "special" cords that cost a fortune :/ And thanks for liking the reviews. I am shy about doing them, but really want to at the same time. I just need to do them when I am putting out more consistent uploads

@@chrisegnoto I no longer use Apple stuff, but my first smartphone was an Apple iphone 4s in 2012. Two years later, my AT&T contract allowed me to get a new phone, so I opted for an Android LG G3. But it became immediately apparent that the proprietary Apple iphone charger cable connector was a _FAR_ superior design to the micro USB. It was much more secure, and much less likely to break or wear out(which _is_ a problem with micro USB). Apple has since replaced the iphone 4 style charger connector with a more compact version, which is still superior to even the new-ish USB C.

Good review. I just bought another power bank this past spring or I'd consider one of these. Sounds like it has what is needed to charge your stuff out in the boonies. Can't recommend a power bank enough if you're a remote wanderer. It's saved our butts many times on our herping trips.

I so agree. I wouldn't mind one of those waterproof solar ones you hang from your pack, but I am not sure how much charge they hold. I always bring a power bank with me. Can't imagine not doing so, now. Soooo useful!

How did I get to be my age and not know about proper thorns vs prickles? You never fail to teach new info. Do you have a favorite headlamp? I need to replace mine. Thanks.

That's such a compliment, Ellen, thank you! Honestly it's crazy, but I just tested the BioLite headlamp 425 and I ended up liking it more than any of my others now. I thought it was going to feel wierd, but I could barely tell I was wearing it. It has a dimming option so you can chose the exact brightness and that's my favorite feature. on the low setting, it lasts about 2 nights, if not more. I didn't expect to love that headlamp so much. I might have a link in the description below my video. I think they might be on sale atm, or reduced, idk. Other than that, the Energizer headlamps were my favorite, but they changed them. I still have one, though. I also liked the Vitchelo headlamps, but they go through batteries. Of course I use them all night long, when I am filming....

Maybe you could try and use compression socks to help with the numb and tingling sensations from your knees down. They do help with blood circulation. Take care man!

Not a bad idea. I should try. Unfortunately, I get hot pretty easily. Once April or May hit, I am in shorts and bare feet half the time :/

I did not expect you to talk about tech but I appreciate it. I guess it would be convenient for people who go for long hikes. 😅

Thanks. They are SOOO useful. I definitely encourage people to grab even a cheap one. Never know when might need one and it's great if you film or take photos. I have even ran lights off of them to attract nocturnal insects to film.

I have two different power banks for my mobile device, one of them is a regular chargeable power pack that holds charge for a really long time and it says it can recharge my mobile device up to four times off it's one charge I also have a power bank that is solar powered and says it can charge my device up to five times. It also has multiple ports but also has multiple flashlights on the mobile power bank. I keep the regular non solar-chargeable power bank in my emergency bag . I keep the solar one on my window sill At a spot where it gets sun only part of the day so I don't have it constantly charging I also have 4 solar flashlights that will charge a mobile device twice off one charge And then, I don't know if you've ever taken apart a laptop battery pack But I have several flashlights, high-end flashlights with very high lumen that take those types of rechargeable batteries. I bought those types of rechargeable flashlights on purpose because I had a few old laptop battery packs laying around to Old laptops I no longer use so The flashlight came with batteries but it never hurts to try and recover old batteries that are still useful. They say water is one of the most important things in an emergency situation I believe that but I think light is also another important necessity if it is possible to have it.

Wow, that is pretty cool. My flashlights are nothing like those. I am always in the market for a super bright light that I can use while filming at a distance. I agree with you and I keep lights in all my go-bags, etc. Usually a spare, also.

That device has 12% 1-star reviews saying it won't charge after a month or two. That sounds pretty terrible.
