I love how you've brought it back to life from the bin! Totally agree BiOrb's are amazing if maintained correctly however I have to place some blame to BiOrb - monthly filter cartridge changes? people who know about fishkeeping know this is a recipe for disaster & I'd ask anyone who is purchasing any fish to Google the nitrogen cycle before doing a thing.
Every time I do a filter change I lose some fish . Also whatever is on top the cartridge has to be removed first. Not the most practical fish bowl. I'm going back to square tank.
@@beefyslife3473 When you do a filter change if the sponge isnt nasty as hell then when you do your water change rinse the filter pad itself in the tank water you've removed so you dont lose the good bacteria. And then just change your charcoal ect.
I’m new to fish keeping, and I recently made this mistake 😢 changed the filter which resulted in 1 fish and 2 shrimp dead. It’s crashed my tank and my nitrite levels are sky high! 😭
I’m getting one of these so I am doing research fiest. I am SO EXCITED! 😄 your video has been super helpful and my favorite one so far. Thank you so much for sharing this and I love that you found this and made it awesome again! You are amazing my man. Don’t ever forget it.
Thank you so much!! Im always busy writing a paper or something like that. But im glad I got your comment. Good luck 🍀 I like the product I think it’s super cool. Looking forward to seeing some pics. @warriorplantedtanks On IG. 👌🏾✌🏾✌🏾
I agree I think it is a pretty neat system. I think the problem if any is that people get them and expect to have to do no work. thanks for the comment
wow Steave I gotta get one now. that looks great! so I'm guessing there's a round filter on the bottom ? custom to the tank? and the tube attaches to it? cool.
Yes, its a pretty user friendly system that makes a nice center piece as well as a conversation piece i have gotten nothing but comments from people who have seen mine despite its condition.
I brought my mum's in from the garden and cleaned it up and bought a new lamp. Can't believe she did thAt! Going to get fish soon.can u recommend any real plants
Absolutely,! for that one with the filter I would stick to things like anubias, java moss ect. floaters like guppy grass or wisteria, would work well too.
I have a 4 gallon Biorb but I'm having a hard time figuring out what type and how many fish I should have in there, any suggestions would be great! Thank you!
4 gallons is a ton of room for me! the sky is the limit really depending on your comfort level. In this case I would suggest something small and hardy. I use fish that are suited to those environments naturally in this case small bodies of water Puddles, ditches, small weed-choked canals etc. Guppies, Endlers live bearers, any danio, or rasbora would be fine. If you feel courageous then you can use any igapo tetra!, I use neons in a 3 gal filterless bowl and they love it!!. A good idea would be an all male tank of Endlers or wild type guppy. (feeders would work just be careful with source) As for the amount, this is a general rule... I would say no more than 10 1-5" or smaller. That gives you about 3 fish per gal and with the filter and hardware on the BIORB, that will be more that adequate. hope this helps. post some pictures and I will put them on my Community Page!!! R/Steve
Any advice for having live plants and fish? Specifically Black Moor fish in the 28 gallon version. Is that a bad idea? Should I get things going with the plants first then transplant fish?
+Natasha Bowman I would definitely place live plants I. the setup, just be mindful of the filter arrangement or better yet leave your plants potted and cover with substantial amounts of substrate. as for the fish in a 28 gallon one goldfish would be ok temporarily but some better options would be smaller fish like guppies or similar live bearers, and any of the barbs or dani's. hope it helps R/STEVE
Liz Porter Hi!😁 for a Betta in general I would say no. However, to run the biorb you will need an airpump the pump runs the filter. Basically the air bubbles create lift which in turn moves water through the filter material and facilitates your filtration. Even with the pump you want to be sure to leave a substancial amount of space at the top so your betta can breathe. Hope this helps if you have any other questions check out my live stream on Saturday's or email me. Thank you so much for watching.
wellthatspretty dwarf frogs are pretty active animals but anything that they can't eat would be ok some recommendation is to get small peaceful species that won't harass your frogs or be able to become food themselves. Find my site on Facebook and I will go in depth for you I think it's a cool project and I would love to see it. Thanks for watching....... STEVE!
Nerite snails are great for keeping the algae down on your tank walls, just a couple. Great tank, well done for getting it from the the trash, despite the scratches, youv made it beautiful Steve.
oh and I also want to know why you have to mix the Water Conditioner with water and wait 24 hours before putting it in your biorb :P maybe you know that? thanks
banmia suadi to clean the bottom you remove the cartridge in center and replace it's that easy! Also a periodic gravel vac of the substrate helps as well thanks for asking!!!
The 24 hour rule is a guideline used to give appropriate time for any chemicals or toxins in tap water time to be neutralized. However this just makes water fish safe it does not replace the cycle needed in order for your livestock to survive.
Warrior Planted Tanks ... Pretty sure that aging your water makes the water conditioner moot because it will dechlorinate over the course of a day naturally. If you use water conditioner, it will neutralize the chlorine rapidly-almost instantly.
I agree with you 100%. I think the biggest issue with the biorb is the marketing!! I believe biorbs are a impulse buy for so many people and in that case the failure rate is astronomical. I feel that the biorb is perfect for those that have done some research. You have to be educated about cycling or you will be guaranteed to fail. Thanks to other youtubers like yourself I've learned how to upgrade the underground filter system, cycling, real vs. fake plants, heaters, etc. My biorb will be delivered next week and thanks to people like you I'm confident I'll be pretty successful!! Thanks again for sharing!
That’s awesome David same here! I’m getting one soon but wanted to educate myself before I invest. The one I want it close to $200, but will be so worth it! I am going to do some research on everything you mentioned! I am a total noob haha. Thanks again for sharing your input, very helpful, as was this video of corse. My fav biorb video I’ve come across honestly! 😊
It depends on the type, something smaller like rams or dwarfs, apisto's etc... I wouldn't see any issues. But any Africans I would probably use something different. In any case as long as it is temporary I think they will be fine.
Why would you overcrowd that tank? Regardless of it's temporary or not. Also why are you putting cold water fish (goldfish) with tropical fish? Get a clue. You shouldn't be giving any advice!
