The Big Daddies are the most iconic enemies within the Bioshock series. When meeting them they are extremely intimidating as they escort their Little Sisters everywhere. But whilst they're cool to look at, they are also super mysterious. Who are they? What are they and what are they doing?
So in this video we look at the Big Daddy origins and how they became the Deadly protectors to the Little Sisters.
This is the lore behind the Big Daddies.

Plot twist version 1: they have a elite version of your big daddy Plot twist version 2 : they also have a big daddy Plot twist version 3 : their dad is Jack Plot twist version 4 : they got hypnotize big daddy and they use ur daddy to kill u Plot twist version 5: same as version 4 but they dont kill you Plot twist version 6: their dad is andrew ryan or someone powerful enough to defeat ur daddy

Not sure if you mentioned this or not but not every big daddy was connected to the suit. Delta was able to remove his helmet and Sigma was able to remove the entire suit. It's possible that the Alpha series didn't have that requirement.

It is confirmed that the requirement of a human being surgically bound to the big daddy suit affects only models after the Alpha Series.

i love bioshock's universe so much especially 1 and 2's, the atmosphere is so dark and grim, with the underwater setting being so foreboding its so engrossingly immersive. seriously i remember playing bioshock 1 as a kid around release date i knew NOTHING about bioshock i didnt even know it was gonna be a kinda creepy game until i got down and the splicers started attacking the biosphere. as a kid those splicers were creepy as HELL. and the big daddies scared me really bad i would run from them or reload to avoid them and walk around them if i could because they were so intimidating.

I was 28 when the first game released and it creeped me out every time I played. I also knew nothing of it before I played. A friend just kept telling me I need to play it and didn't want to spoil anything. As a kid that must have been horrifying lol.

I watched a playthrough of bioshock1 then a week later I got the game and realized how terrifying the big daddies were with there sounds they make, therr charges, and just by first hand gameplay and combat in general. It wasn't only the big daddies but also the disturbing environment. I thought the environment wasn't as disturbingly scary until I put on my headphones and listened to the enemy noises and background ambience. Bioshock will always give that occasional anxiety and nerving feel which is fun.

Having played Bioshock 1 and Bioshock 2 recently I'm of the opinion that the Rumblers and Lancers are the scariest and toughest Big Daddies to fight.

Don't know how many people have also thought of this idea, but for Bioshock Infinite, I don't think it's never revealed WHO is in Songbird's outfit. What if that is another Booker? Seeing as, both the Lutece's and Fontaine had ready available access through the Lutece device to other dimensions. Fontaine would certainly find it poetic, I'm sure, to hire on another version of Booker (or several) to eventually become Songbird.

@@ledanoir1239 Well, in the Columbia Universe, Fontaine Futuristics is the company that makes a lot of the super machines and vigors within the games lore. And Frank Fontaine used the multiverse machine to learn about these future technologies from the Rapture universes, including the Big Daddys. In fact it was Elizabeth and Songbird who were the first properly bonded "big daddy and little sister" which gave the rapture scientist who made the big daddies, Dr. YI Suchong, the knowledge of how to bond big daddies and lil sisters for the Alpha series. In short, Fontaine has to do with it because Fontaine A. Has access to multiverse travel, B. Knows about booker and Elizabeth relationship, and C. Is the creator of the Songbird.

@@synnamon_toast_crunch Fontaine Futuristics created the Big Daddy and Little Sisters in Rapture. Songbird was basically a stolen product from Rapture by Fink, along with Plasmids. Modifications were made sure, so you can say that Fink did create songbird but Fontaine is the one who created the basis for it. I think I also wrote this comment in a blind haze haha so I probably meant to say Fink would have found it poetic to use another version of Booker for songbird.

Bioshock 4, and a movie based upon Bioshock 1, are confirmed in production. The reason for the long gap between 3 and 4 is just they didn't want to make another Bioshock game without ideas behind it.

The atmosphere of the games is fantastic. There's a rumor I heard a while back that the original game is being remade. But what's not a rumor is bioshock 4 is being developed, but no release date as far as I know.

Fun Fact: In each entry of Bioshock, you only fought one standard Bouncer in the whole game before they were replaced with Rosies and Elite Bouncers or the Rumblers. You fought him in Playstation All Stars a lot more.

“The Rumbler is far deadly than others”. Ok I can beat the Rumbler on hard mode with keep spamming spear gun and telekinesis while he throws and shoots rockets.

Well that’s gaming ability, I’m talking from a story point of view. If you in the real world got sent down and had to face the Rumbler you wouldn’t stand a chance.

Also remember the rumbler was designed to fight groups. That's one reason why a single person could fight them so well. In a one on one fight I really think a basic bouncer would be be able to take on a rumbler simply because of what they were designed to do
