I never understood the hate Bioshock 2 got. I loved everything about it.

Bro what? The level design in bioshock 2 is arguably better than in bioshock 1, and has better gameplay with a more consistent quality throughout the game where as bioshock 1 is good until Hephesteus then it procedes to drop tf off

Bioshock 2's multiplayer was surprisingly good though. Getting you into the same "gotta get stronger to win" mindset that doomed Rapture in the first place was a really cool premise, and the fights were chaotic messes in the best way, as all the different weapons and powers collided, and Big Daddies started stomping around. It was good.

Bioshock 2 Improved just about every aspect of gameplay from the first game. You can use plasmids and guns at the same time, hacking is much less tedious, the hacking dart was a fantastic addition. The Bioshock 2 hate is unjustified.

"One of them sucks". And that one is Infinite, without a shadow of a doubt It confuses everything, even the first game story, the gameplay can be fun but it ends up being heavily RNG based, the combos are there but they are harder to control, and the story is just, so terribly bad. The changing dimensions ends up eliminating your main objective. Why would you go save the chinese dude if, in the other dimension, everything could have changed?? The scenary is beautiful, that's for sure, but I never felt like I actually was on such a big city. Bioshock 2 has a lot of problems, that's for sure, but the story can be emotional, the gameplay is AMAZING, is everything the first one was supposed to be and even better. But, oh well, I can respect your wrong opinion

Infinite is Ken Levine trying to be deep and meaningful but failing because he wrote a plot even he couldn’t explain properly in an attempt to make it deep, lmao. The first bioshock is good, 2 still has the fun gameplay instead of two weapon limit cringe but they all pale in comparison to Prey, the real successor to system shock. Go play that instead.

While I love Bioshock 2, I still really liked the video and your critiques of it are valid. I'm just glad I didn't have such a negative reaction to its flaws, I love that game.

Whole lot of wrong opinions here, but it's okay, I forgive you. Bioshock 2 was the best in the series gameplay wise. The hacking minigame was improved drastically and made real time, the dual wield was desperately needed to synergize plasmids and weapon use, and playing as a big daddy was a nice change. The endings were all much better than in the original, with the "neutral" ending actually being the best in my opinion, and it's a shame the story falls completely by the wayside during burial at sea. I do miss the crossbow and chemical sprayer though, and lamb isnt as good an antagonist as andrew ryan, but to be fair, new york gangster guy was also the worst of the three. The story also could have gone into elanor a little bit more, and exactly what it was like being a superhuman, but it was fine for what it was. It also had minerva's den, which was the best bioshock content in the entire series, besides the first one. Bioshock infinite on the other hand was a complete clusterfuck. The plot was convoluted and self contradictory, and had clearly been subject to so many revisions that the story no longer made any sense. Songbird was hyped up to be a main antagonist but was essentially a non-factor for most of the story, the islands float basically because of magic (the explanation is extremely stupid and lutece particles are never used for this purpose again). New elanor was an annoying combination of hyper competent and yet somehow useless. I found her huge mosquito eyes offputting and obvious, and her becoming a god at the end of the game because she was from another universe made no sense at all. Why cant booker open tears then? Why was booker even killed at the end of the game? How does that kill every comstock? How can anna exist if booker dies before she's conceived? If comstock is dead then how does she get her powers to even kill him? It's literally the grandfather paradox. And don't even get me started on burial at sea. Look, The visuals were great, and the game was ambitious, I'll give you that, but in every other regard, it's definitely the worst out of the three.

The first time I played Bioshock in 07, I did the save and reload thing, to see what happens with the little sisters. I harvested one, then realised what I had done, having not really understood what the harvest option meant. I was so upset and disgusted, that I didn’t play the game again for months. Needless to say, fascinating subject matter, that got a genuine emotional reaction out of me. Great game, with powerful ideas.

No mention of Minerva's Den is criminal... what an incredible self contained story in one sitting.

Love your videos but I could not disagree more on Bioshock 2. How you can gloss over Infinite's problems all while giving the same tripe "sequelitis" argument that's been done to death since Bio 2 launched is beyond me. Bioshock 2 should really not be compared to the corporate schlock of other games especially from that time. Was Bioshock 2 a corporate decision? Yes. Is it perfect? No. But read anything about Jordan Thomas (the veteran level designer who made Fort Frolic in Bio 1 and was poached by Levine again for Infinite) or the team that made it and you realize they wanted to make a great game. Just because a game starts as a financial move doesn’t preclude it from being good. It's much too easy to write off the hard work and passion of an entire team of people. Love all the Bioshocks in their own way but I hate to see people dismiss 2 when I genuinely think it has the most touching and human stories in the series. Still like your stuff man, keep truckin' I want to see more channels like yours.

Fantastic video, not sure why it was recommended to me but I'm glad it was. But UMM ACTUALLY according to BIoShock's original design document it was envisioned as a franchise and even had multiplayer originally. Which I always find fascinating and also kind of sad. Also fairly amazingly, BioShock 2 doesn't actually reuse assets outside of the multiplayer game as they had to make them lower texture. Also BioShock 2 is the best get gid subscribed

Playing bioshock games back to back for the first time 2 was my favourite, but probably because the story of the first game was spoiled for everyone and their mother whos been on any gamer space within the internet. but its interesting to hear your perspective

I replayed the first 2 Bioshocks quite a few times. Rushed through Infinite. Didn't like it much, honestly. I just personally preferred the darker, horror atmosphere of Rapture. Also 3:45 you sounded like FaceBones for that segment. DethKlok! 🤟

Bioshock 2 is more polished. I enjoy seeing Rapture more dilapidated, playing as a Big Daddy and the more strategic gameplay. I loved prepping for a Big Sister encounter. All of these games had more heart than anything from the last few years.

Bioshock Infinite was in development hell so they stitch together what they had to get it done.

Bioshock 2 was easily the best one. Bioshock 1 made a point, and Bioshock 2 made a counter argument. 1 was about the dangers of unbridled libertarianism, while 2 showed the dangers of authoritarian collectivism. In my experience, most people who dislike 2 feel threatened by the political implications it makes. 2 refined the animations and models of the first, which were very rough objectively speaking. Meanwhile, the visuals of 2 still hold up today. The gameplay of 2 was the best of the series. The combat in 1 was very clunky, Infinite was simplified, but 2 had myriad upgrades to the weapons, plasmids, and tonics that lead to legitimate builds that made the add on gameplay modes a joy to play. NOBODY is replaying 1 or Infinite for the gameplay. The characterization of 2 blows the others out of the water. The side characters of 1 and Infinite are shallow caricatures that make illogical decisions for either shock value or plot advancement convenience. Meanwhile, the characters in 2 are incredibly complex and nuanced, like Grace Holloway and Augustus Sinclair. They achieve actual growth and humanity that few others in any Bioshock are even allowed to. The story of Mark Meltzer is so incredibly tragic and compelling, I can't imagine either of the two other games achieving that level of humanity. Lastly, the DLC, Minerva's Den, is often praised as one of the best DLCs in all of gaming, and for good reason. It somehow makes improvements on the already buttery smooth combat and features an AI centered story both ahead of its time and unique even to this day. Most people who attack Bioshock 2 can't help but mention how similar it looks to 1, which is, to be fair, a very stupid criticism. Obviously the sequel looks the same as the original. Almost like it's set in the same place or something. They fail to mention the obvious improvements between the two, which leads me to believe that they have failed to properly give BioShock 2 the chance it deserves, and this needlessly loud video has convinced me that such is the case.

Bioshock 2 just felt so nice to play right after one and being able to explore more of rapture was excellent.

I haven't came across a channel that actually made me laugh in a while. All your videos are great and you actually speaking what's on your mind instead of scared of not being paid makes things way better because its not like other well known youtubers that highly censor themselves like their a parent worried about their kid getting angry at them because the kid will throw their money and credit cards in a shredder if they don't. Only thing I didn't like about Infinite was them scrapping an actual choice option that they originally intended and showed at E3 and redoing the game in a linear manner. Love your content and I'll definitely watch anything else you work on for sure.

Most people forget that Bioshock 2 had online multiplayer which was great as long as you didn't get paired with mentally disabled players that made the game drag due to their inability to play the objectives instead of being steamrolled by the enemy team. Also camping the big daddy spawn and beating the enemy team to oblivion was some of the best times on that game.

I saw bioshock 2 as a big dlc for the first game, basically. Did I enjoy it? Yes, but did I remember the story plot? Ehhhh not really. I just like drill arm go burrrr and dashed into people. Bottom line 1st game best game. 3rd game story made me go wtf and throw the controller confused.

Dishonored 2 was a great sequel. Changed the setting from the dreary English towns of the original game to a sunny coastal city with improved mechanics, more powers and weapons, not as good but still interesting story, more cool lore, etc. it’s one of the only good sequels of the last two decades.

Imagine if you could have the weapon wheel in Infinite, but you could switch each weapon with its alternate dimension version. If you don't like the regular carbine, you can pick up a burst fire one, but you have to drop the regular carbine in exchange. That would probably be the best of both worlds

Bioshock 2 is the best Bioshock & you'll all realize this in another 10 years. We BS2 fans will be here with open arms rather than an 'i told ya so' I think Infinite is infinitely held back because A. Time travel is BORING (don't yap to me about multiverses, it's the same trope) B. Look at all the cut content for the game. For all the praise you give it, it's like we got the full release, which we didn't. C. The Vox Populi arc is like modern day Triple A tier of bad writing. Infinite is a BEAUTIFUL girl with the mental development of a teenager. If that's your shtick...then, that's on you. BS2 is superior because one simple reason Minerva's Den did more for the building of Rapture's mythos than Infinite did in it's 8 hours. And I didn't miss how you didn't include the DLC in your infinite ramblings. Not even Infinite glazers can defend that trash heap of a DLC ROFL
