"The Overwatch Treatment" was something I never would have expected nor wanted in the games industry.

The entire plot of Dragon age Inquisition was how its extremly hard to go physically into the fade, and you need godly artefacts, to enter this eldritch place of horror, seeing a funny elf smiling jumping out of said old artefact which needs tremendous power to even lead there, pisses me off on so many levels.

WT actual FUCK! Listen I'm 51, and I remember buying DA the day it came out. I played the shit out of it. That doesn't even look like the same game. The Wardens were HATED and feared, most people that tried to be a warden died in the process from drinking demon blood. You were conscripted into the wardens against your will, you didn't have a choice. This is Mass Effect Andromeda all over again. Stop shitting on good IP's.

Another problem I'm seeing is that many new writers don't actually read literature... they watch Marvel movies and imitate that without thinking.

i think CohhCarnage was spot on with his reaction, this looks like they took the hero's from the failed live service they started out making and cobbled together a new script with the same assets in a year or 2. they look like they were designed to be in a hero shooter, not a dark fantasy rpg

I felt a disturbance, like the voices of millions of Dragon Age fans were crying out all at once. And were then suddenly silenced.

“What are we? some kind of Dragon Age: The veilguard?”

Apart from the obvious things everyone is talking about, two major things stood out in this trailer. 1.) The girl jumping out of the Eluvian and getting pulled back in by those tentacles like some kind of slapstick comedy sketch. It was explicitly stated in the last game that opening and Eluvian and going through it takes "immense power." Enough power that it baffled one of the former companions that her son was able to do it. And he was able to do it because he was born with the soul of an old god. Kid was a power house. Yet this normal freaking elf girl can just do it? Kay. Removed the weight of that action. And by calling her the "Veil Jumper" they've also completely destroyed the mysticism and terror of the Fade. Guess it's just a neat little place any garden variety plucky elf girl can just jump in and out of whenever she wants. *eye roll* 2.) The griffin. This was a word for word line from Solas in Dragon Age: Inquisition: "I would have suggested a griffin. Unfortunately, they are extinct." So they just decided to "un-extict" the griffins. Probably because they didn't care about the lore and thought it would be "cool." This is dead on arival. Edit for the replies: Hope, for y'all's sake, this game is good because I ain't buying it. I'm far too jaded with the industry to trust them. Especially after their retconning of the Qunari in Inquisition. They didn't give any good explanation for that, so I don't trust them to give a good explanation here either. Cheers, y'all.

if you look at the development history of this game, it's an absolute shitshow. The original project headed by the director of the first three games was scrapped because they wanted some sort of live service monetization slop. A bunch of Bioware people left because of that decision. And then they started developing a multiplayer game, but then scrapped that after Anthem failed. And then they started development again on a single-player game which is what we see now.

DEI Age: Origin of a Studio Closure.

The first trailer was for adults, like a lord of the rings kind of vibe. The second one felt like it was made by Disney. 😂

Even the tone shift from Inquisition to this is massive. DAO to this just looks like a whole different universe. So much for getting a proper conclusion to the Solas story lol.

This feels off like they were reusing assets from a canceled Overwatch/ Suislide squad clone and slapping dragon age title on it hoping it would stick.

Where the fuck did Dreadwolf go? Where's my gritty badass Dragonage? Not this high-octane nonsense... This looks nothing like what was promised prior to the whole design team being changed..the fuck.

One thing I'm starting to notice is that if a game trailer and/or a game itself has a subtle Overwatch look to it, then you know it's going to be for the DEI in gaming crowd. They always seem to have that certain "something" about them when it comes to the art style. This trailer had that feel but also made me feel like I was watching a children's cereal commercial.

The first trailer dread wolf had a completely different tone than this it's supposed to be the end of the world and yet everybody's partying?

I mean DA:O and DA:2 were worlds apart, then DA:3 came out and it was even more different. It's like running away from greatness at lightspeed.

You can even tell the diference the minute the comparison shows, on the first trailer for Origins, we got epic music, no vocals, no narrative, just the moment of pure & thriling action. Meanwhile in Veilguard, its a confusing pace that tries to be something (almost desperately), but ends up being a lot of nothing. Its sad we got to this point, given that their last Dragon´s Age was not that bad...
