Just to add, the PSR version also has non-rotating legs, which is good when loading the bipod on a bench with the rubber feet. It stays put. Nice video, thanks.

What an absolutely informative video regarding bipods. It provided specific information that allowed me see what I was paying for in regards to functionality and features. Very well done Sir! One topic that was not covered was are you are better off purchasing a good quality bipod to use on different rifles than purchasing several less expensive bipods for each rifle.

WHY USE A BIPOD AT ALL? Great review, but a bipod IS NOT a necessity for hunting, nor target shooting, come to that. Heavier recoiling rifles, like my Remington Sendero in 300 Win Mag, will shoot to a different point of impact on a bipod, compared to shooting off of sticks, kneeling, etc. Places I shoot, and the type of shooting I do ( at various distances), don't favour bipods. On the range, I shoot off of a pack / soft rest, for greater consistency. No ' loading' the bipod / worrying about ' hop' etc. Having an uncluttered rifle, is also very desirable. Richard is right about not straining the neck on low bipod, but maximum accuracy is obtained getting as low as you can comfortably achieve. Avoid being up on your elbows. Anyway, still a great review.

i love your videos reviews. the optics especially. but watching this bipod review i found myself wanted to yell out " hey, try the recon 360°!" im referring to the $50 US UTG recon 360° which i think is the most capable and versatile bipod in the industry! i know i know! but just try it! its well made, its lightweight and it looks good! it basically comes with a thumb nut tensioned pic rail mount and a sling stud mount. the base is a heim/ball joint which offers full 360° of smooth pan, about 20°+ of cant and even tilt and its all tension adjustable from rock solid with no movement to full flippy floppy mode and everything in between. the base is very smooth in all movements yet rock steady. the base allows the legs to swing through 180° and locks in 5 positions, folded forward and rearward, 45° forward and rearward and 90° down. the legs latch securely with minimal play and unlock via well tensioned and protected buttons. the legs extend into one of 5 positions along a 2.5"/65 mm range and also have minimal play. the latch levers are well made and beefy and they latch and unlatch with moderate tension. theres also a tension wheel to remove all play if you like. ive tried a few bipods and the recon 360° is my favorite. its designed more for semi auto/tactical use i would think but i believe it would work for almost anything up to maybe a 16 lb .338 lapua etc. give it a go. i think you might be surprised by its competence. cheers from the USA!

Excellent as usual. Personally I don't use bipods anymore, for either targets, or hunting, but I'm odd! 😁

Thank you for this video, and a great many others. I received my 8" to 11" Fortmeier 12 O'clock Bipod this morning. I have it fitted now on my Steyr Pro X bullpup. Last thing is to choose a Scope. Now since watching your videos, I have more questions than when I started, and I'm even more confused, with regard to my scope requirements, but thanks to your videos, I'm getting there - Thank you very much, I'm obliged to you.

I have an Atlas but i have found that the 20$ knockoffs are just as good. Some people will cry and rhee about this statement but it's my personal experience that outside of finish, a 20$ knockoff is going to be just as effective. I have a 900 yard target at my spot but I rarely use it. It's a cool novelty to have access to but I prefer to spend my trigger time training on shit that I may actually use in a SHTF situation. To each his own though. ** The target I have set up at 900 is an 18"x24" piece of steel. I general employ my AR10 or Ruger precision (Chambered in 6.5) when using it. I have a 25$ eBay bipod on each of those rifles. You'd have to be retarded to spend 100$ or 200$ plus on a bipod.

Hi Richard Thank you for a good an informative video. What height do you have on the Fortmeier bipod, is it a H171 or H184? Considering in getting a Fortmier, but not sure in what height. I am using a Tikka T3x with a GRS Berserk stock.

Great video, I've just one question. I'm really interested by the Atlas H-5 for my .300 WM but already have the standard Atlas. It works well but the stabilty on my Sako not really good (100m to 600m in our club is on benchrest table and the center of gravity is bellow the barrel). So, Is it better to get the sky feet for my current Atlas to slide on the table and improved stability or is it better to move to the H-5 (with sky feet too ?) ? Thx and as usual, your video is great ;)

Hello Richard, can you tell me something about the Rifle in the middle ? Is it a RPA Action ? And which stock ? Looks very nice.
@RichardUttingSharpshootingUK
@RichardUttingSharpshootingUK 6 лет назад
Hi Chris. The rifle in the middle is a single shot RPA Quadlite in 223 Ackley. It is bedded by me very low in to my favourite stock, the HS PSS. This gives very straight recoil - both the lovely straight stock and the low centreline. I have a lb of lead in the butt to improve balance with my long barrels, although this latest one isn't so heavy as normal. It's a Border 1/7.5T 27" (old stock too good to miss) This has a Wildcat Predator 12 moderator on. Scope is currently an IOR Recon 4-28 in Tier One mount. I've crudely painted the stock grey but one day when i'm rich and famous perhaps i'll be able to afford to have it properly cerakoted. You'll note in my other videos my big 284 is also in an HS PSS to give me continuity between those two rifles. Best, Richard

Are you better to just go a tripod?
@RichardUttingSharpshootingUK
@RichardUttingSharpshootingUK 3 года назад
Yep tripods with a large balljoint and an ARCA plate - love it. But they aren't as precise as a bipod and a rear rest (although clearly bipods on the deck aren't the best in 2ft of grass either!)
