In this video, I am with Morten Hilmer to photograph birds at Mount Rainier National Park. We had been photographing wildlife in Yellowstone National Park the prior week, and came to Mount Rainier to capture some birds on a gorgeous winter day. This trip takes us to Reflection Lake via the Narada Falls trail. The conditions were perfect - with little to no wind. We used snowshoes to grip the firmly consolidated snow.

Wow, awesome to see you back and with Morten in Mt. Rainier. This winter has been weird, but provided great opportunities for trips and photography.

I knew Morten was in the USA but I had no idea he came to our area. I am looking forward to the videos of Yellowstone that both you and Morten release.

Nice to see you back Tim. Given your hiking companion, I fully expected to see some musk ox grazing around the lake! 😀

These Canada Jays look awesome I still haven't seen one but I haven't been it their range either. Cool birds. 👍

The Canada Jays are quite popular in the park. The Stellar Jay (blue one) is seen from time to time, but not nearly as numerous as the Canada Jay. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment.

@@TimKirkPhotos I've seen Stellar Jays but not Canada Jays. I'm in Florida but traveling this summer west coast. Are these birds in Oregon?

@@FollowThomas I have not personally seen Canada Jays in Oregon, but the Northern Cascade Mountains are their territory so I am sure they are there.

Nice images, Tim! It's been years since I've snowshoed around this area and this made me want to get out there again :) Also very cool that Morten is in our neck of the woods!

Thanks Yuriy. It was a great day to be out. My two favorite destinations in MRNP for snowshoeing are Mazama Ridge (East) and Reflection Lake. Morten and I were in Yellowstone the week prior to photograph the wildlife.
