Dear Kate, thank you for another wonderful video. I was fascinated to see your treasure boxes. However, most importantly, you really helped me. My Grandson was having an absolute bluey, he’s coming up to two years old. He was inconsolable and no one knew what to do. So I said “ it’s ok I’ll take him to see Kate” my family thought I’d gone mad. So on you came and the screaming became sobs then the little post crying hiccups. He snuggled in and fell asleep. He slept and I continued to give nana cuddles , and watch the rest of your video. Thank you.
Just wanted you to know that I made birds for all my neighbors and sneaked them in their mailboxes…with a note that says “Ima care-bird, share-bird, to brighten up your day. Keep me for awhile, then send me on my way!😉
You are so blessed to have your good relationship with daughter-in-law Kate and special bonding with little one. My daughter-in-law keeps my grand daughter away from me and it has really affected my family. My youngest son, her husband is so torn by it all, and my other children and grandchildren are horrified by her behaviors. I am missing my little Addi growing up, and it us a sadness that is beyond explanation. Thank you for your lovely and joy- filled channel. Bless you all. The birds are delightful.
Hey lady, I have the same kind of problem. It’s been twenty years of never meeting with the grandchildren. There’s two of them. My only ones from only son. This problem will be ending soon but I did miss their childhood moments. Take care you’re not alone.
Hi Kate! I'm glad to see you are well! I have a huge scrap bin that I save all year. In the spring I stuff them in an ornamental bird cage, and put them out for the birds. When my kids were little they used to have so much fun walking around the neighbourhood spotting all the colorful bird nests with my scraps! TFS Hugs!
Your treasure boxes made me think of Survival Kits that I made for my work mates one Christmas that contained, a penny for their thoughts, a whistle to get someones attention, a little light to guide them, a needle to make sure you can make a stitch in time, a marble in case they had lost theirs,... and other things. I found the idea on line like your treasure boxes which I think are amazing. To bad they were sold 3 years ago
The treasure boxes are so sweet. What a great idea. Don't we all collect little things that we hate to part with? I think giving them away as little treasures are perfect. Unfortunately, I am 7 hours too late. The treasure boxes are all sold out. I'll try to be quicker next time. Thank you for a lovely visit.
Oh my goodness! what a wonderful surprise those Treasure Boxes will be to those who purchase them!! I could do something similar, and send to people, anonymously.. he he
So lovely to visit with your daughters in law, and little Agness. Your boxes are so creative, and the colors are beautiful. Thanks for letting us be part of your process. Lovely.
What a fun place to "work". Haha, I got a kick out of you telling us that we could throw the fabric scraps away instead of you! You inspired me to think outside the box....or actually....what fun filling a box could be. I am thinking about our grown grandchildren and how making Nana Boxes for them might be a treasure or a chuckle or even a what was she thinking kind of box. A true inspiration you are, Kate. And the birds are just too cute. Thank you, Kate, and Anna too.
Each month I make a Nanna box for my grandkids (8,5,yrs and baby)..as they live far away. I put in something to make , something to do ( this time it was floor chalk for hopscotch) , something to read and something to eat (sweeties) . I spoke to them earlier and they were busy with the play dough kit ,sweeties had long gone... grand daughter was busy popping the bubble wrap with great yelps of delight....They have Children's magazines yet to enjoy.... keeps them busy on wet days...
@@grumpy_poo what a wonderful idea! My first grandchild is only 3 weeks old, but I am going to pinch your idea when he is older. Such a lovely way to create joy. Thank you. Xx
@@Barneysma start collecting bits and bobs now.. make little rag dolls or bears. I made little bears for them last year and wrote picture clues for them to find the naughty little bears .. it so much fun... miss mousy was the storyteller..
Oh the boxes were sold out before I even got to watch the video!!! But I did get 2 of the bird kits for a friend so she and her granddaughter can do them together. They live on opposite sides of the country so this will be fun to do for them over the internet. I did splurge on some of your beautiful cards for myself. Only very special people will be blessed with those! Thank you for all the lovely peaceful videos.
@@eileenmc8808 My friend is such a crafty person and is always making things for herself and to give to others. I am hoping I can resist giving these to her until a month before Christmas!
I made some little birds(chickens) like that. I gave them long wooden legs. I painted, sanded, striped, distressed, waxed.......I filled up a whole Christmas tree with them. I made mine from felted wool and loved every single one of them. I was so thrilled when I saw you do birds also. Very precious baby !!!! 🐓🐦 You are so clever building the ribbon jig. 🤯
Could you maybe do a printable for the bird when they're sold out? The kit becomes a "tad" too expensive when the pound is converted to Canadian dollars and I would really love to make a bird to put on the Christmas tree this year. Quite enjoyed watching the treasure boxes come together. Such a fun idea!
@@sandramyer7081 I'm no sewer, and I'd love to work out how to sew the raw edges, leaving an area to turn bird inside out. Also how to get beak/tail inserted, and the narrow hanging ribbon on top.
I used to do something similar with my bits and pieces. I put them in a bag with an envelope and a blank card, called them “Create-a-Card”, and sold them at the school craft fair for $1 each, which meant that kids could purchase something they could put together and use, and kids and the parents bought them by the handsfull!
I'll bet you and Anna have a lot of fun working in your shop. Those are just the cutest little boxes that will be enjoyed all over the world as Anna said about the doves. Thanks for sharing this special video. Y'all have a Blessed day. By the way, Agnes is growing like a weed isn't she.
Hi Kate, I hadn't seen this video before. What fun. I confess I have lots of bits and pieces of treasure myself, dotted about my house, I must make up a few treasure boxes for my grandchildren. You have inspired me. Love to Anna too.❤
Kate, I always enjoy your tutorials and "talking" to me(us) with some new ideas and creative goodies- i love your birds; usually i LOVE birds and cats anytime and I saw what you started about the sweet Birdz.😂 Wish i lived closer to you - love cold weather( came from Massachusetts) much better than hot and humid! Anyway, for now, I'm following you with my 2 cats and see you next time Too doo loo for you! Esprcially you and Fsmily😂💕Sandi Myer 💕
Kate mass making kits is so much quicker than doing one at a time. But it is still time consuming. What beautiful birds. Awesome kit idea. You are amazing
My grandmother made lots of things from fabric scraps like your little bird kit, as ornaments for our Christmas tree. She made each grand child a set, we got a new one each year. Some were stuffed , some were yo-yos made into wreaths, all decorated with buttons, beads, sequins, and ribbons. Thanks for bringing up such fond memories.
Kate , I am a friend on the “sofa”. I believe you are the kindest , most genuine person .Your family is so lucky to have you around. Your teaching abilities and patience are truly a gift. I going through a rough patch right now and finding comfort in watching and listening to your programs. Take care.😊
Lovely video this week. Felt like I was sitting down with you at the kitchen table, helping to wrap threads. That's an ingenious ribbon dispenser, Kate! 💡Please tell Anna that the blue dress is lovely on her.
I heard you say that you would like to learn how to embroider better. I’ll pass along a helpful tip that I learned back in the 80’s, when I was doing counted cross stitch every day. Cut about a one inch piece of the soft side of Velcro. Get it wet, then squeeze it out so that water isn’t dripping. Cut a length of floss no longer than 18 inches, to avoid tangling. Fold the Velcro in half, with the fiber side, in the inside. If you are right handed, pinch the Velcro between your left thumb and index finger. Hold one end of the floss between your right thumb and finger. Lay the end of the floss that you are holding, in between the folded sides of the Velcro. With your right hand, draw the length of floss all of the way through the Velcro. Repeat a couple of times. By slightly dampening the floss it will reduce or eliminate tangles. After the floss has been dampened, transfer the end that you were holding with your right hand, to your left hand. Hold it with your left thumb and finger, but don’t pinch it too tightly. With your right thumb and index finger, separate out one strand of the floss from the remaining five. Pull that one strand out slowly, to avoid tangling. Set it aside. Continue doing the same thing with three more strands. When you only have two strands left, separate the top ends. Put your right index finger in between them and lower your finger, until you reach the other end. Now all six strands have been slightly damped and separated. Use however many strands your project calls for. Wind the remaining strands onto an embroidery bobbin, like you used to wind floss on, for your delightful bird kits.
Love how you keep coming up with different ideas that we all love enjoy your videos beautiful little Agne nice to see your daughter all working together
Love your videos you are a delight have been very sick and you brighten my day love Agnes quilt hexies are my favorite and can't wait for the plus quilt please give Anna, martha, and Agnes and the boys hello for me I love you all. From sherman Texas USA
What a nice Mom Martha is. So calm and loving without fuss. If 666 was a thread color, it was the popular Christmas red, sometimes in short supply on that account.
Oh no! Did I miss a shop update email....? I love the idea of all those bits and pieces from you and incorporating them into some of the pieces I make but they'd all gone.... :( Your update was wonderful and it was lovely to see you, Anna, Martha and Agnes having so much fun! I love your building skills, the Duplo holder for the ribbons was brilliant!!! Thanks for a lovely shop update, perhaps I missed the email. xx
I’m a couple of years late to get pattern, but I HAVE to make those birds!! They are sooooo cute! I’ve taken a screenshot and reckon I can work it out from that. Thanks for the great inspiration. Wish I’d been around to buy one of your gorgeous treasure boxes. 💕
I have a pouty face right now Kate. I had to travel back home on a plane today and just got around to watching. After learning about the treasure boxes, I missed the opportunity to buy one. I did enjoy watching you and your lovely family today. Funny thing…I kept talking about Kate, this & that; my family kept asking who Kate was…❤️. Stay safe. XO.
Those birds are lovely! Would make a lovely gift to do with young girl, even up to age 12 or so. I gave a gift of a cupcake pillow to a co-workers friend to make and her daughter was over joyed with the project and colors! Thank you for the lovely idea, it brings back memories of me and my little friends sewing frogs from scraps with one of the moms in the neighborhood over 50 years Ago! Just love all your videos!
Hello. I have just found your channel, & I love it so much. Thank you very much. I love seeing your garden & pets & crafts, you seem such a nice person. & very interesting! Going to have to catch up with all your previous videos. Bye. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I can't believe they are already sold out! Those beautiful treasure boxes! O well, I hope I have better luck next time! Lots of love to you all from a lovely sunny Sweden!
This is Ros from Australia. Finally I'm up and running YAY! Really enjoying and you have a lot of interesting stories.I live in Nth Sydney Australia and currently in lockdown.
How very, very clever! What a creative and fun way to declutter! I struggle with throwing things away. But, now I see ... there are definitely ways to get around it! ;-)
Lovely video, what a wonderful Aladdin’s cave of treasures your studio must be! Like most crafters, I too have boxes of bits and bobs that I can’t bear to relinquish, so I’m slightly relieved to see your treasure boxes are sold out! It was very tempting! Good to see you and Anna again! Xxx
Hi Kate, I just watched this video (love all your videos by the way) and went over to buy a Treasure Box and they were sold out. Sorry I missed them. I will have to go to your shop more often.
Thanks to all your lovely family for helping you out with filming... keeping us informed while you are mending. Martha you and Agnes explaining all about allotments which I've be reading about in the latest MC Beaton stories of Agatha Raisin Detective series. You both did a wonderful job and such a lovely garden you have. Such a wonderful family and I appreciate so much all that you do to help me and so many others!!! Love you all so much!!!
Your imagination & attention to detail on all the little things you do for the shop is wonderfully inspirational, Kate. The treasure boxes look magnificent! Alas, I wasn’t quick enough to get one. Oh well, I’m sure I’ve got enough little treasures stashed around here that I could make one for myself. Just need to give the crafts hidey-holes and random drawers a good clear out. 😂💚💜🧡
Yes, I keep the trimmings from various projects, (tch, I can't part with anything) when they have built up into a carrier-bag-full I weave them into bath/shower mats on a small hand loom I made myself. Ha!! as if I don't have enough to do!!!! Can't bear waste. Thanks for all the fun xxx.
Great seeing you and Anna and a surprise visit with Martha and Agnes. She's such a sweetie. Is she always so quiet? Lovely little birds! They would be so cute displayed on a cut branch or in a window. Also would make a gift package extra special. So happy to see you back! EM in Va.
Oh, the treasure box is sold out. So wanted one. But I was thinking, the lucky buyers could decoupage the fabric bits and sparkles on the box to use for a gift box later.
By the time we see these videos in NZ it is Monday so each Monday is a Lunch with Kate day. Love the cute birds and the treasure boxes will be such a joy to those who receive them. Another great lunch break! Thanks Kate.
