Thank you for this episode. I am an old disabled woman gardening in a major Pacific Northwest US city. It is a struggle but the enthusiasm of others cheers me on. Growing food soothes the soul.
I'm in the PNW as well, Lisbeth - gardening as long as I can!! (My uncle Ole lived to 103, plucky to the finish!) I love the encouragement of other gardeners!
I am disabled living in a very small town in Josephine county. New property for us and its a challenge doing all that needs to be done! Enthusiam of others spurs me on too!
Seeing that wonderful bathtub seat makes me think you actually have a Summer LGS, Kate. So happy to learn of this new channel. Some of my favorite RU-vidrs are ones who post rather intermittently. I'm enjoying the anticipation!
Oh Miss Kate, this is going to be such a restful place to spend time with you. I'm so glad you are doing Bees, it's so fascinating. I just love watching them. And the garden will be terrific to watch as well. Thank you for bringing us along for the journey.
So excited that you were willing to do this, Kate. The birds singing in the background is wonderful. Well-rounded people we makers are. It is the garden's time right now that shines. Haha...I am nearly giddy seeing the garden again and Eileen. Again, thank you Kate. There is something special about surprise visits from a friend.
Kate, I thoroughly enjoy listening to you whether it’s about quilting, gardening, baking, declutterring or whatever else. Love watching you interact with your family. Stay healthy.
I so agrre and happy that I'm not alone in feeling like gardening is like warfare. I have deer, rabbits, a groundhog, or woodchuck, and then the slugs and other bugs. I think your hen run will make a great garden. All of that chicken manure will be great fertilizer. Hope to see how it grows. Love that your raised beds are so high, making it easy to work.
Thank you for this new video and your new project. I live in the Pacific Northwest in Sequim, Washington. I lived in England until I was 19. Moved to Sequim in 2003. I love to garden but we have very dry weather in this area and watering gets very expensive. The weather fronts from the west and northwest are blocked by the Olympic Mountains. This area is called the Blue Hole because the skies above us can be blue when the surrounding areas are all grey from the clouds. I am learning to quilt and find your videos on this subject very helpful and informative. Last week I learned a bit about paper piecing and hope to master this. I find The Last Homey House and now, The Last Homey Garden, very relaxing. It is wonderful handling beautiful fabric and beautiful soil!!! My cat behaves like your cats - wants to be right in the middle of the action. Thanks for everything you do and for all your videos.
This will be a lovely place to visit with you. The garden, the 🐝's, your soft and soothing instructions. You are amazing Miss Kate. Thank you for sharing this with us.
My step-dad was a beekeeper. My favorite job was making the frames. We had a large pine tree in the backyard. It was lovely sitting out building with the tree.
This first Homely Garden channel is absolutely charming! Thanks to the Live Chat w/Arne & Calos this morning, I took a look and plan to alert our garden club members to stretch themselves and watch your new channel -- proving senior ladies can be inspired to re-create their gardens. Thank you!
Yes, the Arne and Carlos video visit with Kate is what alerted me to the new garden channel. I wonder why she didnt mention it on the LLH channel? Im not a patron any longer, maybe she announced it there. But very happy to have found it and will be able to enjoy more Kate content.
I had the privilege of growing up in a place where some families dedicated every square inch of their garden to growing food! These were often otherworldly places! My favorite spot was often the space under the grape vine! There was usually a grape vine! For your children to have grown up there and for Agnes to explore now, what joy!
I’m #26 and delighted to be able to spend time in your gardens with you😊. The drone was a really good idea…gives us a great prospective of the area. I will vicariously enjoy gardening with you and your team while we watch the miracles happen. Thank you, Kate
“Gardening is like warfare” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 … currently doing hand to paw combat with squirrels who are destroying pots of flower seedlings 🤣🇨🇦 … love this addition to the homely house family of channels. 😊💕
Just love hearing about your property and your gardens. Thanks for sharing! I also like to watch the birds, garden and quilt. Thanks for caring and sharing!
I laughed when you said of your dad that he could probably stick a pencil in the ground and grow a pencil tree. My dad always said of my mom that she could plant a fence post in the ground, and it would blossom before summer's end... and we lived in Canada!
WOW.... what a beautiful place to live.! Thank you for sharing your lovely home and garden ❤. You have an amazingly large piece of property... it's huge! So glad you have help to maintain your garden and property. It's so lovely and peaceful ❤. I accidentally clicked on this video thinking I was going to your Last Homely House!😊
This new channel of yours is so exciting! And it was fun to see Eileen again ( I’m sure I’m not the only one who sings the song every time you mention her🎶). Plus your garden is inspiring! I have one acre of land and have great plans for it, and your property inspires me! 😃
Delighted to tell you that this is my first visit to the last homely garden! Kate, you’re looking very well! Being in the garden must be health promoting!!!!!! Seeing you in it has cheered me up a bit!
I grew up on a farm here in ontario, canada and my father also was an excellent gardener. My grandfather from ENgland was a professional gardener, so I like to think I am carrying on in some fashion in my seniorhood! What a pleasure to see you and your gardens too.Thank you for your ongoing inspiration.
Thank you Kate you are an inspiration to us all. You make me seriously think of planting more in my garden and appreciate it more. This channel will be a huge hit. We love you so much. Your stories in your videos are always so welcome and loved.
So excited for this channel of yours!! I’m such a fan of your other one. Such calming, inspirational, and enjoyable channels you have. Thank you so much!
Any time you pop on with a garden video will be a joy. So glad we will get to see what is going on outside. Looking forward to watching your garden grow!
Your garden is lovely. I'm sitting on the lime green garden bench listening to your birds. They sound so happy. We have an 8' fence around our vegetable garden as we have quite a few deer that come through our property. (4' was not tall enough.) I'm waiting for this year's fawns to arrive. It's so fun to watch when they play tag, running after each other, all around our trails and yard. Have a wonderful week Kate!
A beautiful channel. Inspiring and full of advice. Thank you Kate. I felt at peace watching and seeing the wonderful scenery where you live. I haven't got a garden, many years ago I turned my concrete car port into a container garden. It has a few trees in pots, containers full of flowers and hanging baskets. A small brick wall and wrought iron fencing surround it. It has won many awards in the local local "In Bloom" competition.
Wonderful. As a Permaculturist I am loving you have a dedicated channel for your garden. I’m sitting here sewing my inch hexagons together while enjoying your new channel.
My husband passed in January and I’m finding keeping up things on my own is a full time job! I could use a garden team. 🤔 I could use a good handyman too. I love this new channel and will happily wait for new videos because anything garden is lovely. TFS
I so love watching you talk about gardening and trees and look forward to your chats. I don't have many people to talk to about gardening so listening to you makes me enjoy my garden even more. I too over plant my seeds because you never know when a visitor will show up for dinner. Love the overhead shots of the garden and this new channel.
ABSOLUTELY love your quilting channel and this one will be as well. Such a BEAUTIFUL area. We all need to adapt for what we love to do, and keep doing. It's "living life" at a slower pace. But remaining safe and happy. Thank you for your future videos to come. We ALL NEED enjoyment and a bit of "soulful peace". ❤❤❤ from across the sea.
Your garden is enchanting Kate, with its separate rooms and the trees and the bees. I would so love to wander through it. Thank you for inviting us in. 🧚🏼♀️🌱🪴🪺🍄🌼🦔
Thank you for sharing. Love watching TLHH. So I know I will enjoy watching TLHG. I guess the is the line Green garden sofa. I enjoy watching all the things you do Kate. Your garden is beautiful. Lots of love Karen xx
How wonderful to see your beautiful garden and to see you looking so well 🥰. I'm very happy for you to have the awesome help with the strenuous work in your garden. It is an absolutely MAGNIFICENT one! Thank you for sharing♥️ Enjoy your beautiful day💕
I love it! Love the drone! Love the pic of you and Eileen. Love the old pics of your dad. Love seeing the evolution of your relationship with the algorithm. Love the outside noises. Love having a virtual garden to plan and care for virtually along with your team. Thanks.
I love your videos Kate. I am very new to The Last Homely House and I’m proud to be one of the first subscribers to TLHG! You are a great inspiration to me. Thank you for sharing your beautiful life. I live in Indiana, USA and I love England. You are such a pleasure to watch.
Oh Kate, I LOVE this new channel! I love my garden, and always have…..and I would love to have your big area, etc……. isn’t gardening just the most special, therapeutic activity?❤️
Kate, thank you so much for starting this up, I'm one of the many who loves to see your garden progress. This sounds like an excellent idea to keep the content separate for the pesky algorithm! All the best! G xx
So happy that you started a garden channel. I love to gardening and quilting. I so hope you the best on this new channel , can wait till the next video. Thank You
❤ I love both of your channels. Thank you ❤ it’s so beautiful to see how to live in honor of our world and our creativity. I think this is how I’d like to grow my world, so thank you for sharing yours
I love that through your channel you will be drawing on the gardening wisdom passed on from your Dad.The huge blessing for us that never had that upbringing is that through lovely and generous people like yourself we too can learn.
Reserving my spot on the Lime Green Bath Seat 🙂 I live in town in a small house with a very small yard but still I grow lovely flowers and just one edible crop: tomatoes. I grow seedlings by simply squooshing one tomato and starting the seeds indoors. I always plant all the seeds, end up with about 70 seedlings - at least 4 times as many as I have room to plant outside! It always seems such a miracle to me that I get so much from doing so very little.
I am so, so, so happy about this new channel! I love watching you in your garden and explaining what you are doing.... i can live vicariously thru you! I also really like the aerial views of your gardens... it is good to get that kind of view to see where everything is in relation to everything else! I will be eagerly awaiting to see future stories!
Beautiful Homestead, Kate!! ❤ I love your flowers, home, and garden!! Such lovely scenery! Thanks so very much for sharing with us!!♡ Bees are amazing workers! You are a very busy lady, Kate!! I wondered how many neighbors you had and how closely they were to your home. As I mentioned to you before, that I visited England, Scotland, and Wales with my parents in July 1987. I was amazed at the distance between homes, neighbors, and properties. We traveled with a group of about 50 others on a COSMOS tour bus. I thought it was so amazing over there in Britain. The stone wall fences, and sheep, cows, goats, and horses running free out in the countryside. Really a unique and lovely lifestyle. ♡ I'm so glad that I found your Last Homely House RU-vid channel a few years back. My parents are 83 and 81 years, and I've shared a few of your videos with them - when the clear weather allows me to get RU-vid working on my phone when I'm at Their house. (They do not have internet themselves. They used a tower antenna for years to watch television. About 3 years ago, they finally invested in Satellite Dish Television! They have still been trying to get used to cell phones - for the last 6 years. Mom is getting braver with it! )😊 My Mom and Dad think it is so lovely that I have my friend Kate in the U.K. ♡♡♡ Keep up doing all of your favorite things, Kate, as long as you are able! We love watching and sharing with you!! ♡ - Janice Visger in Michigan. ❤ Hugs and Much Love
It is so nice that you are starting a garden channel. The views from the drone are really nice and what a wonderful place you have to garden in. I'm looking forward to seeing what you show us here on your garden channel!
This is so exciting Kate! I cannot wait to see more about your garden and especially your bees, if we are so lucky!1 I loved the pictures of your dad!🤗💖
I was searching for pictures to use in this video and got lost in a happy few minutes finding the right ones. I think Dad should have a regular spot in these videos - he was so important in my life! Yes - maybe I should have Richard's Corner ! something like that! Thank you Karin xxx
Love your new Channel Kate. This comment is a suggestion l have regarding your resident deer. It’s from Deb Kemp from Canada. She uses Irish Green Soap and it works for her. Cut the bars into 4 and hang along a fence or string line. She also grates it and leaves it on the ground to effectively deter moles. I hope you get to read this. You have created a wonderful community with the Lime Green Sofa. I’m from Australia, Deb is from Canada . You have created this wonderful sisterhood.
What a treat, Kate, being able to spend time in your garden with you 🥰 This is my first full year living in Northumberland (a dream come true) and although I’m not far from you my soil is clay based - a new experience and challenge! It’s been neglected (for good reasons) and taken some clearing but the first thing I planted was a rowan tree, end of autumn. I’m watching this first episode with the birds enjoying their morning feed on the big feeder and today the baby starlings are out for the first time from the nest on my roof. What a way to start a new week! Well done with the new channel 😍
Wonderful introduction to your new channel and lovely tribute to your Dad. The aerial shots give us a greater understanding of space and location and "lushness". There's so much of interest, the birds, the Bees, the goose and deer. I really miss having a garden, so thanks for sharing yours with us.
Thank you for this video Kate, beautiful aerial views of your garden. So much to see. I wish you well with this new channel and look forward to seeing much more. Take care and stay blessed.❤
This was so lovely I very nearly cried at the end of it and went right back to watch it again from the beginning. The end of the video coincided with finishing a row of hexagons in a quilt directly inspired by the one you made for Agnes. Thank you for the unending creativity you share!
Hi, Kate! Nice to meet you. Just found your channel, and I can already tell I will love anything you're involved in. I love gardening also and stay very busy with that in the spring, summer, and fall. My husband and I call ourselves farmers. I have five acres, which is part of my family home of sixty acres. Much of it has been sold off, which is heartbreaking to me. I was actually born on this land and have a special love for it. We have goats and chickens. We did have a wonderful, great Pyrenees dog who kept guard over our place until about a year ago. He died of old age, and we miss him so much. I haven't built up the nerve to get another dog because I don't want to go through the grief again. All these things keep us busy and probably help us to stay active and happy. Your place is heavenly, reminds me of ours. I also do crafts, sewing, quilting, etc. in winter. There is always something to do. I look forward to following along with you. Take care and best wishes to all your projects. Janice from Arkansas USA
This was such a lovely surprise for the start of my weekend. I have greatly enjoyed your past garden videos and am thrilled to see everything so green and vibrant in the garden this spring. Happy planting!
Oh Happy Day !! I do so love to see you in the garden my friend. I was missing it & honestly a little afraid that you were not being up to it somehow. What a refief that you are ok and going strong.... It wasn't quite Spring without having a bit of you in the Garden with your seeds and things. This is a lovely solution... thank you so much. I always get a lift of inspiration seeing what ever you are doing. Take care lovely friend.
I love this Garden channel. I love all things Gardening, flowers, vegetables, herbs, even tried trees from seeds. In Indiana where I lived in zone 5 everything would grow, the topsoil was gold. But now I live in the desert of Arizona where everything I learned in Indiana doesn't apply. So I'm getting my joy of gardening from your channel, so thank you.
This is wonderful, Kate! Congratulations! I’m so excited about your new channel and what’s to come! You look so cute sitting by the lake in the drone shot! ❤❤❤❤
I'm a homely house regular and I've just found this homely garden channel.......what a huge treat it will be to watch each video in chronological order until I'm up to date. Thank you Kate.
I'm also old, slightly disabled, and a Pacific Northwest big city resident! I love your channel and am getting so much inspiration to go forward with my gardening! Thank you.
This is delightful and inspiring! I actually paused the video so I could transplant the very patient basil I grew from seeds in an orange juice container on our window sill. If she flourishes it'll be due at least in part to the Last Homely Garden :)
Wonderful! 614 subscribers already on the first day. How long did it take for TLHH original to get that many subscribers? I'm so happy to still be here watching all the happenings.🌻 And I love the drone footage because now I have a much better idea of just where things are in relation to each other. It is a LARGE garden and a lovely one. Happy days!! 🌈
about a year Sherry! ha ha! I was amazed by the drone footage too o- I have asked him to come back when everything is in full flower! thanks for your enthusiasm! xxx
I'm so glad I found your new channel! I also really enjoy my vegetable garden. Everything is planted now, and the roses are going to open any day now in my flower garden-patio area. Rabbits ate all my green beans last year, so hopefully I have blocked every nook and cranny. The tiny baby rabbits are the hardest. They fit through the smallest spaces. Looking forward to your posts, but I will still be sitting on the lime green sofa. God bless 🐝🐝🐝🐝
