To me, it is Lane, Holdsworth, and Lagrene. (Maybe Tim Miller if I heard more of his stuff.) Bireli is the only one of them still alive.

i think Jaco's bass was lost during that time, so probably not

The bass of doom was lost between 1986 and 2006. After being broken in more than 20 pieces, Kevin Kaufman and Jim Hamilton rebuilt it and a maple overlay was laminated to the top which changed the look of the bass completely.

He must be an excellent player to cope with that lousy lead tone half way into the video. Not easy to play with a sound like that fighting you all the way etc. Respect to him for that. The solo itself was a bit like Frank Gambale in style and technique.
