Thanks for yet another thoroughly entertaining video Billy. A couple of nice keeper fish there and the driving sound effects had me laughing out loud, brilliant stuff. 😂 It just shows the type of bloke you are Billy when you put the big cod back, take what you need. Keep on trying for the 40lb monster and I hope we get to witness it.
just wanna say your videos are very entertaining to watch and have been good to keep in the background while completing my college coursework. Hope those lines stay tight 💪
thank you billy for another entertaining video , of all the shore fishing channels relevant to uk fishing this is one of the most informative and entertaining out there.
Another brilliant production Billy, and well done on 4 excellent fish mate! As an aside I think i went to school with the O'Lastic's boy Dermot 🤣😂. Fish on brother.
Just WOW! Nice one Brother, probably one of your best. Well done on the Ling, nice to see the lovely Cod swim off, and the drive down to the Mark had me in stitches! Damn good Craic! Thanks Billy, stay safe & well - Dave! 🎣🎣👍👍
Hi Billy , thanks for sharing a great session with some lovely condition fish , the ‘big one’ has got to be out there somewhere for you sir!! stay safe bro 🎣✌🏼
Your intro gives me the first lift, your charismatic personality the second, finally the fishing the third . What's not to like! Sit Patch, enjoy the treat! 😁
Hi billy you ok mate. Cracking session ,cracking vid. I loved ya driving to the mark billy. You watch what ya doing driving that fast you dont want to crash again hahaha. All the bezt billy from grimsby uk.
Great video again Billy. Wearing a life jacket, or do you generally. Gods for safety tho when your fishing on your own. Love the energy you have. Tight lines 🎣😎
As it goes, I only wear one when I fill the need. It's hard to cast well with one on, so mostly on dangerous pairs like that, thanks Brother fish on 👍😁👌
This is where you’re so different, most videos I watch I fast forward parts of,but yours every second is entertaining. Better than my 4 dogfish last night 😂🎣🐟
@@Billyfishing_watch About 3 hours drive away from Oban, it's a great place for fishing. In the summer I am going for a week to the north of Scotland, lure fishing with my son.
Thanks Brother, last cast fish are the best👍 the cod are there to spawn so it's best we let them do their business. Otherwise there is no cod for anybody else in the future. Fish on👍😁
Brilliant video Billy. I noticed you have trigger reel fittings on your rods, been thinking of using them on mine. Do you think it's worth it? Thanks for leaving the 40 lber for me when I get to Skarnsundet in a couple of weeks, very generous of you 🤣🤣🤣
No!!! I didn't leave it for you 😂🤣 that my fish, hands off buddy 🤬 The trigger on the rods is off an ABU grip lock. The only thing there worth any money is the rudder trigger. So I just pulled it off and pushed it over the original real seat on the sonik rods. A good trader is hard to find. century tackle make a sliding wheel seat with a trigger. It is the only good one out there. Thanks brother 👍😁
Agree 100% with your piscatorial philosophy. Are there any tight bends in that fjord or river?? My favourite spots are the tight bends where swirls are created. And I'll chum too.
The fish in that part of the fjord are only there when they're breathing, when the water is fast I find the fish in the eddies. And then I like to fish lures. Thanks Brother 😁👌
I'm new to your channel and really enjoying it 😊 I live in New Zealand and am going to try your South African rig next time I fish for Snapper off the South Island west coast beaches. Cheers, Ian
@@Billyfishing_watch - question for you, do you think the rig would work as well without the hair? Reason for asking is for most of my surfcasting, I use a 6/0 J hook with a fixed 4/0 circle hook snelled above it (the cup of the circle hook sits level with the eye of the J hook). Most of my fish are hooked on the circle hook, so in many ways, the J hook is doing the same job as the hair. I don't often use baits as big as yours, usually crab for Smoothounds, prawn and pipi (clam) for Elephant Fish and pilchards for Snapper or Gurnard. All these baits are presented with the J hook in the bottom of the bait and the circle hook exposed about half way up. So, the J hook (instead of the hair) would be attached to the gemini bait clip for the cast. Just wondered what your thoughts were Billy....
First of all I have to say that's my tackle is developed from South African fishing. I have a rig that sounds like yours, but I cut the point of the off the j hook, I'll put a link in. Butbthe Dingle dangle that the South Africans use is perfect for what you need and you can use a dingle dangle or hair with j hooks as well. so follow links and it might give you some fresh ideas. 👍😊
Great place, great fishing. Keep ur hard work going Where do u get the bait from? If I had to come from UK, what would b the best way to sort out bait? Thanks
Great stuff! what an awesome spot with good rewards too. I'd love to try the dingle dangles, would they work if they were scaled down for smaller baits and hooks? Another awesome video Billy 👌
Hi bud, yes I have developed small dingle dangle, hair's for Fatfish most round fish, the hair just needs to suit the bait. Here is a link for a vid, You will get the idea. Thanks Brother 👍😁👌
Hi Steve, sure. You can buy herring in most supermarkets. And in Ålesund, there is a Eurospar that sells frozen mackerel. The cod are only there from march to April. Tight lines Brother 👍😁
Gotta ask Billy....have you tried building some buoyancy into your baits so you're fishing off the bottom..... think of the attraction that movement will create....to a cod it'll be like the warm welcoming lights of a McDonald's drive through... be excellent to fish one rod on the bottom and one "popped up" as a comparison...what say you Billy..?
You're casting 300 feet or so & dropping the bait in 150 feet of water. Any idea how far I have to go to do a 40# cod? Roughly 50 miles the other side of the shipping lanes the east side of Nantucket Island. And they are few & far in between out there. Best of luck with that quest of yours bud. As always great vid. Thanx for posting. BTW...nice job on those two ling.
R W, Are you a Nantucket man? Herman Melville has inspired me since I was a boy, And you I guess. I have fished water here, over 250m deep from the shore, crazy isn't it, but the fish are mostly weird. Deep water does not mean big fish all the time, hope you are out fishing , thanks Brother 👍😁👌
Hello Billy ask the fishing lead do you pour that yourself or do you buy them because you don't see a lot of lead with a release hook here in the netherlands I have also switched to the dingel dongle since the end of last year and it produces more fish and they are easier to unhook I make the most use of the flatfish dongle here on the sea bass there is often no small joeyis to be had here so fish often with ragworms and razer shelfs greets Willem
Hi Willem. I make everything myself except the fishing line the hooks and the swivels. I have a short video on how to make the tail wires for the sinkers. Just follow the link, thanks Brother 😁👌
@@Billyfishing_watch Have you been to BC? And you don't sound Norwegian. You sound quite Irish, or maybe Newfie? Newfie is an affectionate term for Newfoundlanders. BC ling cod, despite their ferocious appearance, are excellent eating. Sometimes I think halibut is better, sometimes not. They're also a lot easier to catch than halibut. I've caught them while fishing and by diving with a spear gun. It's great talking to you, Billy.
Not Newfie, but Québécois! 🤣 Only joking, I am from Dublin, Ireland. But travel is in the job description so I follow fishing all over the world. Hopefully I will visit your fine land some day, and catch some of these fantastic fish. Thanks Mo, see you on the beach 😁👌
@@Billyfishing_watch Haha you know your shit. You're lucky if your job takes you all over the world. I figured you were Irish, but I gotta say, you oughta be an actor. You got the face for it, and you got the demeanour. You would fit right in as a gangster in a Guy Mitchell movie, or as one of Robin Hood's Merry Men. You're Litte John. You're a natural. I am serious. 😆 Anyways, just an observation. Good talking to you again and RU-vid is recommending the shit out of your older vids so I know we'll talk again. I can't help but comment on a good fishing video. 😄 Mike
how would you rate the sonik sk4 rods then I been looking for one for weeks and can't seem to find any around obviously they don't make them anymore where did you pick yours up? and how come you swapped from the century's to soniks sk4? I have been using sonik vaders for 2 and half years now 😉👍
Hi Ross. I have 13 pairs of beach rods, but obviously I can't bring them out everywhere with me. So most of the time I used to Sonic's SK4 and century eliminator t-1000. But you are right, they don't make the sonics anymore or the eliminators. I think the Sonic's are 14 years old. 👍😁
@@Billyfishing_watch out of ten for what you do with with how would you rate them? They are in alot of your videos and you seen together on with them so well
What can I say. The roads are used or not for everybody. It takes quite some time and and some practice to get used to stiff j curve rods. If you need to cast half a big mackerel over 100m, this is what you need. But you need skills as well. Most people can't bend them. Thanks Brother 👍😁
Billy just been watching another video aswell from a few months back when you got the 11.7lb pollock... what rods do you prefer the century eliminator or your sk4's
@@Billyfishing_watch ah ok no worries bud a had the t1000s but now use the kompressor ss for my all around rod love them ... a used the sonik sk3 xtr rough groud rod about 4 year ago that was a nice rod to
