As lockdown eased a little for sailors, we could go out and train again. This time I get Julie, a fellow competitor and member of the La Turballe training center to sail with me. Her boat being under repair atm, she came to sail with me to strech her legs and not loose the muscle memory.
This and some work for me as well. Since fundraising for my Mini Transat project isn't going as smooth as I would like to for the moment, I need to get to work again so doing some maintenance mission on private boats around.

Hay man, really interesting to get a glimps at what your trianing involves... I think Ben Ainsley must have been watching and taking notes with that close pass... Great drone footage once again (I'm not a huge fan of drones they are overused in a pointless fasion on youtube, but you seem to have got it just right.)

I have watched some of you French guys sailing in & out of marinas & it amazes me. I have only sailed my Hanse 311 into its berth once when i ran out of fuel & I had to sail down a narrow creek & into the marina where I had to turn at 3 places then down between a line of finger berths. it was bum squeak time & I never want to do it again. You are really cool how you do it. Respect man. respect.

Same! I've never been confident enough to dock or take off from the marina with sails with fear of bumping other boats.

@@TheAreyarey It's not that difficult when you planned your way out with favorable winds and make sure you have enough speed for steering. Did it like 10 years on a 10 metre 1.7 ton yacht 😎 Also being able to tag in like 30 metre canals and keep some speed is essential to keep it as an option. Best of luck.

Merci Hugo, really nice to be part of your trainigs workout. I never thought of training muscle memories for sailing as this is a standing procedure in other sports. But yea, interesting to watch. I just wonder about the handling of the running backstays, it appears you just let them loose while tacking? You probably wouldn`t do the same while jibing? And: thanks al lot for the music by Mama Godillot - that‘s a great discovery!

I love the scow-bow design - is it just me or does it look like there is a lot less bow wave on the Maxi650 than the other mini starting at about 12:00? I've watched it a few times, and I think that is what I see, but the other mini is riding your wake, so its hard to tell. Actually, I just wanted to listen to the music over and over again - great song!

The bow wave shows less on a scow indeed, but the wet area is more important, so more power in the breeze... but more drag in the light stuff

The Pogo 30 are training for the Transquadra, a different race, but they end up having similar polars as us on short courses cause they have better upwind performances but then we tend to catch up on the downwind legs

It is not more complicated. Starboard tack holds course. Port tack stays out of the way.

The sails are beautiful, but they still look ugly to me, although I know that they are fast and efficient, but they don't have the beauty of the classic racing boats.
