Gimnazija Kranj Great Christmas Concert 2009. Carmen suites is wonderfull and sweet orchestra piece. Very well played in sung. That beautiful young lady at around 0.38 has been mildly criticized for her moving forward so much. That's because she is partially blind and has to get close to her notes in order to see her music score. NEVER judge a book from its cover.

I must say that the young woman who plays the lead flute part (around 4:05) is beautiful, along with being an accomplished musician. If only I were nearer her age...I'd be in "hot pursuit." Thank you ma'am, for sharing your talent with us.

I return to this performance time and time again. It's so refreshing to see a youth orchestra perform with such aplomb. If one of those were my kids I'd be standing up shouting "That's my kid up there, everyone!".

To be able to sit back in a Australian basement man-cave with a few brews, the A/C purring away in the background, headphones on - to be transported away to a place where young people can still be bothered to learn, groom themselves and play (and sing) so beautifully is a wondrous thing. It's taken 5 beers and this, but at the moment, the world is a lovely place.

You are hilarious ! For me...Its the background music to Platoon.....The Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber that will transport you totally to a height few people have ever experienced.....although it is known to be a sad piece....a man once played it for his toddler son....and he started crying in the middle of it and told his dad ..." I love you Dad...." the power of heavenly music...the International Language....Im also going back to listening to vinyl as well [ in addition to cds ofcourse] theres so much you can buy on the cheap nowadays....Anyways , check it out my audiophile brother...love and highest regards ..May Jehovah bless your coming and going in Christ Jesus as well, your musical sister, Lisa

Yes, I have heard that sort of thing before at concerts where members of the audience don't realize that many pieces are divided into 3 or 4 parts and will just clap whenever the music comes to a pause. It's also funny to watch and hear the more knowledgeable music buffs cackle almost sadistically at these poor cultural ignoramuses.😄

This brought tears to my eyes watching these young people, so involved in what they were doing and so talented in each ones instrument! I hope they each one went on to bigger orchestras and stayed with classical music because it is slowly fading away here in the states.

Watch Nadja with this orchestra performing Mister Mozart's Clarinet Concerto in A Major, remembering what you have learned about her here. Criticized unfortunately. If you to hear how good is, she plays her clarinet very well. You tube has her doing Mozart's Clarinet Concerto in A Major. (Impressive) with the same orchestra. One of the concerts, her left eyelid fluttered and I thought she did well with that problem. She is truly talented.

It was this music that awoke my first adult inclinations towards classical music. Such excellence! I found an old recorded tape of "Carmen", and listened to it as I drove to work. It really planted the seed, although I recall listening to Mozart, etc, as a child. But I didn't "get it" then. At the time, I listened to hip-hop, metal, all sorts of stuff...but I thought, "hey, there's really something worth something here!". And here I am.

My siblings and I were fortunate to have parents who adored music and played all kinds of it to us from infancy. As a result my friends and I used to devise stories and games to classical music. When rock hit, research scientist Bullpop (our father) was not amused. Once when my siblings' rock album developed a scratch and couldn't be fixed, Dad broke it over his knee with great relish. But the rest of the family were hooked. When you grow up with music, you tend to love most of it--even all of it!
