The performances here are so incredibly great. She was on another level throughout the 90s, this isn't pop music by any stretch of the imagination. She brought together jazz, classical, world and dance music and combined those in the most organic way to create something utterly new and unique. For my money, she was the greatest musician on the planet in the 90s.
Fond memories of this, aired on Nov, 21st 1993! I recorded the show on a VCR…My birthday is the 22nd, it was like a special gift at midnight. I turned 27… Bjorks Birthday is the 21st she would have been 28. I saw her live in 2007 at the Gorge Amphitheater in Washington State. She started her show at midnight then. Quantum Entangled 30 years! ❤Bjork then and now 😎
This version of Come To Me just makes me melt...I really, really wish Björk and Jamiroquai could've jammed together in the early/mid 90s, they would've come up with something incredible as hell.
Here is a Bjork triple-play - First an interview then singing 'Come to Me' and 'Aeroplane' accompanied by her band. From MTV's 120 Minutes on 21 November 1993.
The two musicians I really had a crush on back in the day were Kate Bush and Björk. Both so incredibly unique and ingenious and with an amazing sensuality, charisma and transcendent beauty.
Love this bare bones (Bjork backed by a quartet) virtually acoustic (electric piano) rendition of Come to Me, which happens to be one of my favorite Bjork songs.
Sometimes talent is so great it overcomes every barrier so easily you think "this can't be real". Marylin Monroe was like that. The Beatles were like that (when being from Liverpool wasn't an advantage). There is something about Bjork, being from almost an inconsequential place in time, that felt like she was untamed by the world as it was. She always exceeded expectations. Always.
as a teen that was watching mtv every minute of my life in these years, i assure you mtv was not only mainstream but top dog of its realm. reality television. mary ellis fucking bunim. that is what killed this and other networks.
Amazing how well she speaks English, with so much naturalness. Lewis says at 4:12 exactly what I was thinking -- she speaks in this instance with a noticeable British accent.
@@sensunory No I think the unendurable (handy)advertising in the early 2000s distroyed it and other music tv channels mainly. It was here in germany also the more and more worse getting moderators.
The first comment on this page is rather hilarious. In fairness to the commenter, she's quite outwardly flirty and exuding sexuality in her body language in this interview. Or, could be nerves, or both.
