Dull Flame of Desire features Antony Hegarty. This single is out on 22nd of October. The video was made by the 3 runners up in the Innocence video competition. Each gets a third of the song to direct.
@@JanJanNik Yes, her. Anohni (formerly known as Antony) came out as transgender... I wanna say 2018 (could be wrong with the year). They've actually released a cracking solo album under their new name - think the LP is called 'Hopelessness'.
This video is so up-close and intimate, especially the middle-ending part. The beginning just feels like the universe creating two soulmates. I SWEAR Björk and Anohni are a vocal pair made in Heaven. Very excited for the next time they'll Atom Dance like this, muah.
And to think this song talks about that glimpse you have of your lover's eyes while kissing them. And to think this video plays that moment in slow motion. This is genius.
Such a lovely duet, their voices are so unique it makes the song sound almost otherworldly. The brass arrangements give the entire song an epic finale feel, like this song would be perfect in an end credit sequence for a really well-acted drama or something similar.
God - look at the depth of the words - the excellence of the music and the great blend of visuals, tone and graphical coordination! ABSOLUTELY A MASTERPIECE!!!! BJORK IS THE MASTERPIECE!!!!
chromesthesia Yes, it is difficult to translate, her version diverges, but it is unmistakable. This poem was used in Andrei Tarkovsky's greatest film 'Stalker' of 1979, I must assume she heard it there. His version is also not the exact words of the original. But she is an intelligent woman who quotes other poetry, perhaps she knew it directly.
björk is awesome.. I feel the spirit of her songs.. her videos.. really so full of criativity.. love her songs. she can go to a point of art that I cant seee in any another artist...
Simplicity is the final achievement. After one has played a vast quantity of notes and more notes, it is simplicity that emerges as the crowning reward of art...simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. Viva Bjork
This song is so moving, beautiful, it´s godlike. Two of the most gifted artists singing together, it always makes me cry. The video is awesome... Long live to Björk & Antony's collaborations!
Actually had no idea this song had a music video... Happy to see they made what is a pretty cool video for what is a pretty cool ( fine ... Beautiful ) song
I love your eyes, my dear Their splendid sparkling fire When suddenly you raise them so To cast a swift embracing glance Like lightning flashing in the sky But there's a charm that is greater still When my love's eyes are lowered When all is fired by passion's kiss And through the downcast lashes I see the dull flame of desire.
No, but inspired yes, by the poem "Silentium!" from the 1830s. Look up Tutchev on wikipedia and you'll see that here many romantically oriented lyrics about love are layered in. In fact most of the lyrics here, even the title, are not from Tutchev, however much his amazing poem might have inspired them: Speak not, lie hidden, and conceal the way you dream, the things you feel. Deep in your spirit let them rise akin to stars in crystal skies that set before the night is blurred: delight in them and speak no word. How can a heart expression find? How should another know your mind? Will he discern what quickens you? A thought, once uttered, is untrue. Dimmed is the fountainhead when stirred: drink at the source and speak no word. Live in your inner self alone within your soul a world has grown, the magic of veiled thoughts that might be blinded by the outer light, drowned in the noise of day, unheard... take in their song and speak no word. (trans. by Vladimir Nabokov)
Such a haunting song. I heard it this morning on the tv, and couldn't get it out of my head the whole day. I must say I like the first sequence the most.
This song may be the sound of the new passion straining to find air during an unprecedented and suffocating time. These are the voices of a new world. These are the voices of a new spirit. Powerful. Soulful. Inspiring. Beautiful.
"Dull Flame Of Desire" by Björk (feat. Antony Hegarty) I love your eyes, my dear Their splendid sparkling fire When suddenly you raise them so To cast a swift embracing glance Like lightning flashing in the sky But there's a charm that is greater still When my love's eyes are lowered When all is fired by passion's kiss And through the downcast lashes I see the dull flame of desire (Björk, always, Björk)
Has it occurred to anybody that the dots at the beginning are actually stars rearranging themselves into constellations? There's more than there appears to be. I am officially obsessed with this song now, because of the video release.
This is so beautiful. So full of power and emotion. The two voices blend together to create a rich but delicate union. It grows in passion but maintains the tenderness to the end.
Oh my God... this song is so touching in the heart. It's sad and romantic at the same time. Good work Bjork and Antony! And cool combination of effects for the video directors!
All this "the first part" this and "the second part" blaaaa - she is a genius! She takes risks, has a strikingly unique and original musical style and her vids are always simple, engaging and visually beautiful. Love you, Bjork!

Fuckin hell Bjork’s fan base is so wholesome and kind look at all the likes on the comments we’re all so supportive of each other, unconditionally relating over her music and I think that’s just beautiful.
I loooove bjork !!! I would have never heard of her if it wasn't for my best friend alex, so im eternaly grateful to him for that !!!!! Her music is so artistic, it blows me away !!
Sigo a bjork desde hace varios años y esta cancion me mato!! gracias a ésta conoci al increible grupo de antony and the johnsons.. asi que yupi!!!!!!!!
Anthony is the only "always on fast vibrato" singer I can listen to . Normally its like nails on a blackboard the second anyone starts the "billy goat" vibrato, i just hear constant non resolution of the note, but with him it seems sincere and not put on at all. A soulful old black lady blues singer lives in his heart i think. Bravo.
I'm glad this version of the video exists. I never liked the extremely contrasted middle section-- now that it's in regular black-and-white and much softer, it really fits the depth of the song. Also, you can see how pretty Björk is!
This song is absolutely, unforgivably lovely. I can't stop remembering this when I listen to other Bjork songs. This shorter version goes perfect with the video, but the album version stands well on its own, too.
