jóga Directed by Michel Gondry. Written by Björk/Sigurjón Birgir Sigurdsson (aka Sjón). Published by Kobalt Music Publishing ® 1997 BjörkOverseas Ltd/One Little Indian Records Ltd.
the way she uses geography to express her emotions and the emotions of people she knows is so incredibly beautiful and this is possibly the strongest example of it
many years after knowing this song, I noticed how the video and the song are so in sink, so rare to see it. Is it Grenland when she opens her heart/chest? This song is moving in so many ways..
Iceland is such a beautiful country with stunning geographic scenery. Bjork used to walk alone to school and on her way she would sing to the natural scenery she encountered. It's no surprise that geography plays such an important emotional role in her music.
@@Ssshmoo(I'll humour your childish question for a moment cause I'm bored) disgusted?I wouldn't go that far🙄 i disagree 4sure ,as for who do I think is THE PINNACLE question ?I like musicians that entertain fans without being self indulgent ,,off the top of my head to name a few,,trent reznor,Floyd,,vvaldi, cheeky girls, die antwoodt, james last, nightwish ,aphex twin ,hawkwind, yello, gong,I could go on,,but not this art w##k,I liked her early work,in a pop novelty dance way ,sugar cubes wasn't my cup of tea though,i seen her at Glastonbury one year on shroomz, still not that good, even tripped out🤪which is saying something, her music videos are far out but she don't direct them soo but as a person I'm sure she's very nice
@@titteryenot1136 nothing wrong with people wanting to entertain, but if you're in the pursuit of making potent art that stands the test of time it's better to trust your artistic instincts and risk being self indulgent instead of pandering for your fans. Nothing elitist about it
So exhausted of hearing people overuse that “oh, we ...don’t deserve...” Yes we do we ARE very deserving of good music ! Thank goodness for musicians like björk. What we aren’t deserving of is the dumbed down, over manufacturing trends on top 40
i heard that behind each one liner top comment on youtube there's a potential poet, a little misguided from his purpose, just feeding this bottomless sack of creativity for no concrete reason. that's why, even in 2019, you should never let poets lie to you
She has a child's mind, not to say naive. But chaotic and full of questions. Very creative; imaginative, it's a playground in it's own right. A state of being whereby you are your own idea, means you are your own artistry.
Bjork is one of those amazing artists that will never be appreciated in her time. She has been innovating for the past 30 years. She’s a once in a generation talent
This is one of my absolute favorite of Bjorks songs. She wrote this song for her friend/massage therapist. I too am a massage therapist, so i find these lyrics to be *extremely powerful!*
@@esmeraldabarajas6355 it's about how their friendship brings the best out of each of them. They challenge each other, which is what push me up to a state of emergency means... they make each other face the truth about themselves and do things that are scary and actually live their lives to the fullest. They understand each other's emotions in a way where they don't have to always use words, which sometimes there aren't words that adequately explain your "emotional landscapes" their friendship heals each other. That's what it is about
It is timeless. I thought she was like my age when I first found her and her videos just had a retro look to them. Nah. She's actually older than my parents and these videos are old. Blown away by Bjork for sure lol.
I would love to ask Bjork how she feels looking back on her old works and what does she think of her past self; how does she feel about the journey she has traveled from 23 years ago in '97 all the way to present day. I think this music has aged like fine wine and I think that even today it is still the most unique sound I've ever heard. Music like this just can't be made anymore by many artist. Artist these days are losing their creativity.
A wonderful masterpiece. Homogenic is such a fantastic album, completely ahead of its time, and full of emotion. The composition of this song is so unique, I love this opposition between the nordic strings and the glitch electronic, this is fascinating. My journey in Björk's discography has been so far amazing !
I've only heard Vespertine all the way and it's one of the prettiest albums I've ever heard. I've been told good things about Homogenic so I'll give the whole album a listen one of these days.
So powerful. The violins mixed with the more electronic rhythm, classic mixed with modern technology god I love her. This song is so beautiful and touches me deeply. This video is so amazing, she was groundbreaking.
I pray that many young people will come to this song and this immense artist ..... when music has such a powerful soul it belongs to every generation 🌱
All these accidents That happen Follow the dot Coincidence Makes sense Only with you You don't have to speak I feel Emotional landscapes They puzzle me Then the riddle gets solved And you push me up to this State of emergency How beautiful to be State of emergency Is where I want to be All that no-one sees You see What's inside of me Every nerve that hurts You heal Deep inside of me, oo-oohh You don't have to speak I feel Emotional landscapes They puzzle me confuse Then the riddle gets solved And you push me up to this State of emergency How beautiful to be State of emergency Is where I want to be State of emergency How beautiful to be Emotional landscapes They puzzle me Then the riddle gets solved And you push me up to this…
Where the fuck was the second verse in this video? Like 1/3 of the lyrics you posted aren't even in the video. This is like some weird bastardized version.
i feel so nostalgic listening to this song , a nostalgia that i've never felt before. it's so beautiful , elegant , and on my top 50 songs of all time. literally gonna cry to this song while singing this to my bf
After all those years and all those new records Björk put out, this is still her most beautiful song to date! Nothing else gives me the same feelings like those strings playing at the start of the song.
Yes only Bjork can stir my emotions, taking me to another world, another realm another relatity. Transformational and evolutionary in the soul of a man.
the heart is a terraformer and the mind an alchemical botanist, if humans can learn to function at full spectrum, this world just might be salvaged. This song along with everything she else she has made is the inspiration for our new album, thank you Bjork
I was such a mess since i remembered listening to " I miss you" as a kid and wondered who was the name of the singer until 2012 wen RU-vid decided to recommended to me. Since then my life changed completely. I always find peace in her music tbh
Björk is light years ahead of our time with her music! I found her as a 13yr old male. I’m now 34 and I still love Björk! I’m glad I was born in this time period to enjoy her music!
Jóga is her best song, at the peak of her career. It still sounds insanely ahead of its time, I swear, 23 years later. I could also say the same to its accompanying music video, as well.
What? No. Björk wrote it about her friend Jóhanna. It’s also a love letter to Iceland. Unless you’re referring to her as the poet, it’s an entirely original work. She came up with the ‘state of emergency’ like while on a walk in the Spanish mountains
My fav song of hers. Heard this song while I was dealing with so much. I was around some of the most beautiful mountains I have ever seen and felt as though I was being hugged by them-it was so comforting. I’ll never forget this song. Ever‼️
Debería ser el himno de Islandia esta canción. Cada día que pasa me doy cuenta que Björk es la mejor artista indiscutiblemente y no lo supe hasta que un día mi amigo me hizo conocerla. La manera de ver la música cambió totalmente con ella.
I know like for legit being better then 95% of music she doesn’t have a lot of monthly listeners in Spotify either. Like she is so good she makes 50% of artists sound lazy and fame Hungry
@@RyanSchilling-fg9qn dunno if you need Bjork to be able to tell that 50% of artists are lazy and fame hungry 😅but yeah she obviously has rare gifts and you can definitely tell she's entirely dedicated and has always surrounded herself by the best talent and people who like her are curious and keep thinking "what else is posible?"instead of "how can I make money?"
I was in my young teens when this song came out and being a hip hop fan. My mom loves Bjork and this song. I appreciated this song always..... great song..... beautiful
Thank you, Björk, your work gives me confidence to move beyond convention in my own work. So freeing! I've only heard and handful of your songs in the last hour, but you've made an immense impact.
