I saw Bjork live in Washington DC for her Post tour. Even though it was for the Post album, she finished her night with One Day. During the concert, she apologized to the audience because she was suffering form a sore throat, but would try her best. About two dozen people left the concert and went to the nearest convenience store and bought out all of the sore throat and cold medicine and handed it to the venue staff to give to her after the show. She found out what happened and thanked the whole audience for caring for her so much.
The palladium in the late 90s seeing her and family I didnt know would even be there, was there. The equipment was dealing w a software update that day. None of the songs would sync to play. She wowed us with her full acapella set. Holy smokes she can take an entire stadium down with a whisper. This goddess...❤ forever your fan ❤
I know, I was kidding. I love her too, and what I love about her is precisely the fact that she's so unique she only can be compared to herself. Everybody should feel this free and unusual.
Seeing someone have the gall and the strength to be there 100% authentic self just jolts me alive. I relate to her spirit so much. So much freedom. It brings me to tears. Lovely performance.
Can't dance?? You kidding? Her motions are free, yet pulsing perfectly in sync. And they are original, creative and unique. Dance is a very high art form - direct self-expression using the body as an instrument. Her dance comes naturally, uninhibited, and captures all that I would hope dance could. She is unusual (I'll give you that) but mesmerizing and beautiful. Like her singing. She's truly gifted. A very special treasure.
10 years later I come back to this video and it still brings tears to my eyes, it is such a beautiful song with such deep love expressed for possibly a child or a friend struggling, giving hope. This song captures Bjork at her best.
love the way she performs her songs live.. better than a CD of her. Just one of the things that make her unique. I can only respect and love such an artist unconditionally :).
My Musical Muse 🤍🤍🤍 If I had to pick One Artist Only to the exclusion of All Others … Björk … No Contest 🤍🤍🤍 The Soul & Spirit Connection I Feel Is Indescribable in finite terms. I would literally have on loop 3:17 -3:46 Of This Precise Masterpiece for the rest of my life … shimmering in the background of my mortal days 🙏🤍🙏🤍🙏🤍🙏
This is a fantastic version. Another, completely different but even more hypnotic version is also among my favorites - from her truly classic Unplugged concert. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BBNysnuybqU.html (fast-forward to 4:00, though the whole concert is outstanding). It would normally be ridiculous and silly to sing a pop song behind a Balinese Gamelan orchestra that also features an Indian tabla and European tuba (just for this one song in the concert). Almost comical combination, but only Bjork could hear that in her head and unite and meld those sounds so perfectly with her song.
@eamflutes actually I've just looked at the clip in question and they've cut in footage of me but from another part of the gig they obviously didn't have a close up shot of me on that riff so you are forgiven!
Does anyone know what instrument is used in the beginning? The spiraling sound she mimics with her hand? I've always wondered. And I want one, ha-ha! :-)
The so called "Spiraling Sound" you hear, is actually a "EMU -PROTEUS" Synthesizer Keyboard With an Arpeggiator. This being said, she is actually signaling a cue to the keyboardist to have him sync the "Arpeggiator Speed" properly. I know for a fact that she composes all her own Lyrics, Arrangements, and a wide variation of digital, analog and many ethnic instruments she actually plays in her home studio. She reminds me of myself. I didn't know i had a twin, Only i'm a guy. I hope you this information useful and can learn from it. God Bless, SOPADELICIOSA.
Why didn't she get a real flutist? He's not actually playing, his fingers don't move and are in the F position when the key is G ish maybe D. Hahahha. She could've gotten a real flutist to do it, its an easy part. Even a more attractive guy could play it... Ha!
