Björk is one of the most distinctive and beautiful singers I've ever heard. Although I've heard parts of this, I've never fully immersed myself in it until now. Her wailing and gibberish is so unique.
Thanks for watching!

I love when she does the gibberish - which, to be fair, is Icelandic a lot of the time! Her voice is amazing, and I really love her fearlessness. She just does her thing and doesn't listen to critics. I love that.

Yeah, the scat-vocal interludes which sound like a pastiche/blend of two or more languages were possibly the most unique thing about her early post-'Cubes solo music - unfortunately she hardly does it at all in the new century.

I'm glad you enjoyed this it would be good to see more björk reactions. This song wouldn't be in my top 20 of her songs though. Check out atopos her recent single it's crazy she's dressed as a big mushroom in the music vid lol my most played song of 2023 for some reason.

Takk fyrir! Always loved this song, and sort of assumed she was singing it about me, but the law of probability signals to me that it is probably otherwise.

PS, Hey Nick - have you ever done a 'My Favorite Smiths/Morrissey songs' video? I can't find one but I may just be cross-eyed from doing English people's taxes all day. Thanks!

With inspiration from Indian Bollywood music, which she acknowledged in an interview at the time, but applied so uniquely in the way only the amazing Bjork could do ❤❤

aw I hope your dog's doing better, poor thing! the Indian flavour comes from Talvin Singh, who toured with her and was part of the "asian underground" music scene that hit the UK in the late 90s, which was basically asian drum'n'bass and punk (some of whom remix her later, like the lovely State of Bengal.) She calls on Singh to remix Possibly Maybe, he gets her to re-do the vocals in a nasal Asian style which is a curious treat. Dominic Thrupp remixes a few tracks off this album but he never seems to know what to do with her vocals, so they're just 90s house with grunting

Thanks so much for your insightful reaction. If beautiful gibberish piques your interest, you might want to check out Cocteau Twins. Carolyn's Fingers is iconic and a particularly nice composition. Another good one is Heaven or Las Vegas.

Oh boy! Bjork! Bjork! Bjork! From the sparingly spunky pop-punk of the Sugarcubes... through to her stunning audacious debut lp! Bjork from the very beginning was FIRE! Her voice, her arrangements, her beats, and her choice of collaborators always with such boundless energy exuberance & a wild sense of adventure a determination to go off exploring! There are very few artists who can approach her creativity & intuition for melodies & experimentation. And yet though this in some ways is a very traditional-sounding love song. When sung by Bjork it sounds Alien & gloriously otherness. One of my all-time favourite artists. I loved this track when it first came out, I was with my first-ever serious boyfriend & this was one of our favourite songs. We would play debut, whilst cooking a Sunday breakfast it seemed to fit perfectly with that post-clubbing come-down vibes. You'd be out clubbing until around 3 am then you'd wake up at 11 am & fix a late breakfast. Ah, such fun times [or at least we could pretend they were] listening to Bjork always feels so optimistic & hopeful. Even when she's super Angry on Army of Me or Declare Independence, she's always pushing forward! Love this song So much, so many wonderful memories. Heading out to Poptastic or Tge Number 1 club and dancing to Bjork's Violently Happy or Big Time Sensuality was so gorgeous! For those brief moments, we could forget the world outside that hated us for being Queer and we could just go off on a little adventure with Bjork! Brilliant choice Nick! Excellent reaction as always! Please react to Your Kisses Burn by Marc Almond & Nico from his [Marc's] album The Stars We Are. 🖤

I’ve been saying that this song feels like what the cantina in Star Wars would play after midnight in the best way possible! So alien, yet so sensual and emotional.
