Very nice cruiser mate! i am in the process of restoring my 1984 BJ42....its been a slow job because i still use it and dont have the money to get it done straight away. i have however invested in a set of ARB air lockers and an AXT turbo for it. The AXT turbo is awesome! i highly recommend it. It now pulls hard, even up hills in 5th gear
I am glad you said it was better than a jeep and not me!! Gee it drives nice down the road with the 5 Speed and Power Steering, Thanks For the help straightening out the brand names.
That is a nice truck there, you clearly had a concept of what you wanted in your FJ. You didn't take any short cuts and it shows in the quality of the restoration. I am from the same province, and think it is great that there are other FJ fans here too.
Good Luck with your BJ40 the 3B diesel engine is probably the best engine ever built in the world. Absolutely Bullet Proof. They are sure a head turner with the rumble of the diesel engine.
Congratulations from Spain! I don´t know wheter it sounds or looks better. I´ve got a BJ73 in restoring process. I don´t know who has restored yours but they are GODS. Enjoy it!
These were never imported in to the U.K. which is a shame but I don’t think they would have stood up well to our salt laden winter roads if they were, there are a few RHD one in Ireland but they all have terminal rust ! That is a beautiful restoration with just enough mods if it was mine I would never sell it or use it in the winter. Well done 👍🏻
Check out Jonathan Ward's youtube channel. He rebuilds old land cruisers, Broncos etc. The name of his company is Icon 4x4. They sell for north of 200k
Probably if I was going to do more to my Cruiser I would put a turbo onto it. Dont stop working on yours though because there is a huge demand for nice Cruisers, Cheers from Canada
my husband has a 75 series with a small block chev 400 uber worked and lots of other goodies and a stock standard paint job. We are in australia and will be moving to Canada (his home) in the next however months...have you sourced alot of your 'tid bits; from rocky mountain cruisers / cool cruisers... or are there more in CA and 'over the border'... he is looking to fit our 4 kids in the back so is getting another roll bar etc and has the original 'dickie seats'.... these 'trucks' rock!
I'm new to these jeeps and have just started looking at my options. How much (roughly) would it cost me to build a similar version? Also, this is important to me, are there a lot of electronics on this model? I'd ideally prefer for the vehicle to be analog rather than digital. I don't want any computers and minimal electronics. Thank you for your time and you have a beautiful Land Cruiser!
Restorations are expensive I dont really want to say how much I spent but I could of bought a brand new Toyota SUV cheaper!! But this is a real head turner and a cool Diesel engine that nobody else has!!
Sorry about the delay in reply but I sourced a lot of my parts off of EBAY and a great Canadian Toyota Landcruiser Store in Edmonton, Alberta Canada called 4 Wheel Auto. These people were awsome with overnight delivery and a whole lot of knowledge.
What a beautiful job! Great truck! Congrats! Do you still having it? Did you use it as a daily drive? I gonna buy a diesel one and I will love to know how was your experience.
The 3B is a 3.4 L inline 4 eight valve OHV diesel engine. Compression ratio is 20:1. Output is 90 hp (67 kW) at 3500 rpm with 160 ft·lbf (217 N·m) of torque at 2000 rpm. The engine is stock! Thanks from Canada!!
The BJ42 was in the restoration process almost for 2 years so it is hard to say how much the paint costed because there was so much more work than the paint. The paint color is Speedway Blue from Toyota. Good Luck with the Prado!!
How much do I have invested in this BJ42?? Too much and I can't say because my wife will then find out But thanks for the compliment!! It is a great truck to drive because in 1983 they came out with 5 speed and power steering
can you confirm that your wheels are Mickey Thompson Classic Lock P ? I'm trying to find those on the web and it's like they don't sell them anymore. Am I wrong?
In Vietnam, the Japanese paid the debts to what they did to Vietnam and the world in 1945!! They paid to USA and USA told the Japanese bring these vehicles to Vietnam for the Vietnamese use in the war civil or military depend on whoever need them. These nick name the Vietnamese gave for them " WATER BUFFALO" just right because NONE of these vehicles can beat Vietnamese muds except this Landcruiser and Vietnamese buffaloes. It had 4.2 L Solid Axles (military) 4x4 STILL WORK NOW in Vietnam!
When I have time this summer I will post another video of my BJ42. Some day it may be for sale you can leave your name with me at email normmack@sasktel.net
