Thanks for the advice! Going to get my ear drained tomorrow. 4 months and no issues. Switched gyms and on the third day (today) I got a small bump at the top inner part of my ear after rolling with some aggressive people. I'm going to also order headgear.
It is actually a big deal. If you feel your ear is sore but not puffed up, you've got yourself a minor damage. The cartilage might've broken a little but with no fluid in it. No draining is needed, but it grows thicker. When there's a major damage and you get fluid in between the layers of your ear, you'll notice it immediately and the damage is IRREPARABLE. Drain and pack it RIGHT AWAY to minimize the swelling. But the ears just don't get back to their original shape. Always wear headgear and be safe.
I got it after my first BJJ class lol.. didn’t know what if was so it took me 2 weeks to get it looked at. Ended up having a doctor cut it to drain it and put in 2 stitches. Hoping it won’t look horrendous once I get them out 🤣
I've never stepped foot in a mma or boxing gym, but I think of myself as a natural fighter and learn at home of RU-vid. I'm thinking of going to a mma gym to train and try to go pro, but I really don't want to get cauliflower ear and go through the process of draining it.
