This was interesting. I wish it had translation. Awesome to see her at this stage of her life. Would have liked to see her perform on that show. Thanks for posting this.
I don't understand why they didn't pick up someone else to translate Björk's answers. I both speak French and English. This host translation really sucks as he often prefers to emphasize and re-build what she said, adding his own interpretation. When she says "fierce", he understand "fears". You can see in his face that he doesn't get it but he's not humble enough to ask if he gets it right so he translates it in a wrong way and from this, the next question has no sense. Happily, Björk stays clever, funny and disciplined enough in interviews.
I don’t think he did a bad job actually. Apart from the mistake you described he did a good job. He has to talk two languages, translate in his head and repeat, all of this really fast otherwise he loses the audience attention. To translate he has to understand that’s why probably he builds up everything: to make himself understand and also others. The fierce/ fears mistake can also depend by her accent which is very Icelandic hence not common. This is my experience with languages then maybe I could be wrong.
lmao what a great opening quesion.... "So, this song you performed, you didn't write it, someone else wrote it." who tf starts an interview like that.. (especially considering she is probably one of the artists who is the most involved an all of the work she does)
