its kind of gross how everyone constantly exoticized her and patronized her "oh what a cute creature from Iceland isn't she so strange but somehow likeable" Maybe that's part of the reason that she became a lot more serious in interviews later in her career, because she got sick of people talking about her like that and wanted to be taken more seriously
@Mickey Bitsko Da fuck do you mean? Doesn't matter how young or tiny she looks, she was still a grown up woman who had a kid during the peak of her fame. They shouldn't have treated her like a kid just cuz she looks young.
I frickin despise how they treated her like that, she should be treated normally just like any other Human being, that probably wouldn’t have ruined her spirit to become more serious. She probably just wanted to be herself.
This goes to show why pop music went down the gutter. Most people in the media can't really comprehend a true talent like Björk. Back then, such groundbreaking artists were ridiculed, but now they're simply denied any mainstream exposure. Pity.
Exactly .. your animalistic nature to.protect your Cubs just kick in. It changed me when I had a son. I was nice and quiet and never spoke out or up for myself until I had my kid. Then my back bone just formed and hardened somehow. It's a forever changing experience.
Sometimes i feel like a psychotic lunatic mom. I'll fight whales and Pitts for her... But my kid is amused by me. I asked her the other day if she thinks I'm a good mom. My 10 yr old says," you're not conventionAl. You're not typical. But yes, you're a good a mom." Something like that. Screw what other ppl think about parenting. That's why my kids a baby genius___-annie :p
I love bjork, though she is a bit of a mystery to me. being a star definitely has its pressures - she was a new mother. seeing the footage of her beating up that journalist is kind of heartbreaking - but if there's anyone who puts everything they are out there, it's bjork, one of the most honest, curious, and expressive artists in mainstream music.
That reporter said to her son. " It must be really hard being the child of a pop star"? That reporter did not respect Björks wishes with no interviews granted so instead the reporter targeted Björks son to get some sort of story. Thats a big No! No! The child was a minor, we don't go around talking to minors without first speaking to the parents and this minors mother had clearly stated before arriving at the airport. No Interviews! Björk was bashed in the media yet the media didn't explain the truth, as they never do, they'll spin anything to get a story. MSM are like parsites.
Damn, I never actually noticed the news reporter getting in a few good wacks on Bjork with the microphone before. I always saw this as a one-sided beat-down.
I remember really distinctly the last interview where Bjork said that honestly, she wasn't all that crazy about Australia, and I found it hilarious how many people got so wildly offended by it. I just liked the honesty really. I don't think it's a crazy statement to say us Australians are similar to Americans and Europeans, I liked how up front she was that it wasn't for her.
Australians and tourists alike are obsessive over how much of a paradise Australia is, or whatever. A lot of celebrities in particular rave about it (despite almost never visiting it...why can't my favourite bands come here more often?!) I've never cared much about it. It's nostalgic to me but there's other places in the world I'd rather be in. I don't know how humans even thrived in this wasteland of an environment.
Most of the time, reporters tend to do their best to annoy, offend and disregard their subjects privacy, resulting to this kind of beat down. It happened around the world, and will still be happening in the future if they kept doing it.
Most people in the Australian media are morons... However, pronouncing 'day boo' is no where near as bad as this stupid woman who read the word as Deb Butt.
My mom would do the same tbh, if someone would be harassing me, she would be there to defend her child. The actions are questionable, yes. But sometimes you just can’t control yourself.
Kansman absolves herself from blame and cites that Bjork's child was there, conveniently forgetting to mention that Bjork's reaction was PRECISELY because Kansman tried to address her son. Gutter press personified.

Jay Kohootech I like to shut down my brain for moments too. I'm very intelligent, so when I drink alcohol, I do all kinds of stupid things, is kind of a relief
Well, probably it can make everyone angry, when people violate your privacy even if you ask them not to do it! It's not obvious for usual people, who wouldn't care about 1 such incident. Bet when you see such disrespect every day, it's very different story! So I wouldn't blame her! Especially for the desire to protect her family!
Pull out the mom card when in trouble. This is very disappointing. Bjork and everybody in the comments. Aparently in this society mothers are allowed to beat up whoever they want. Anytime for any reason including saying welcome.
As the uploader of this video, I have to agree with you.... I don't know how persistent the journalist was in pursuing Bjork, but I can say that her stress was visible when she was interviewed by Australian music journalist Ian Molly Meldrum in Japan, which I believe was just a few days before this meltdown. She shows no embarrassment, nor regret about her action. All she does is boast about her strength, even though she did assault somebody who was just doing their job. I got off the Bjork train after this, and stopped recording her whenever she came on TV. The 'meltdown' was genuine, and she was obviously stressed about something (the Bjork stalker? The touring?). Eitherway, there's no excuse and there have been plenty of male celebrities who got into much hotter water when behaving like that (Jack White, to name one out of a few)
Iceland is thought to have been uninhabited before Nordics (& Irelanders) settled on the island. She looks very Nordic to me (_as a Finn living_ (& _born_) _in Sweden_). s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/ed/33/38/ed3338dc4500cc4bfda9b4eb7a743d76--inspiring-people-amazing-people.jpg
"National Geographic offered to take a DNA swab and they sent me the results and I got really excited. I found out they my mother’s side is phoenician, and ancient civilization from present day Syria that actually became celtic and went to Ireland. Icelanders still today tell stories about when the vikings picked up irish women on the way to iceland… And then on my father’s side I’m from a really big-time common oceanic western european branch which is sort of portugal and west of France and Britain and Iceland… So I did this song after I found that about DNA. Before that I had always been kinda anti family trees because Iceland is obsessed with its ancestors -probably because we happen to have all the information on us in the sagas like 1200 years back." - Björkwww.bjork.fr/Hollow
I've heard (not entirely sure, but I saw a documentary), that most native people of different countries are somewhat related to eachother but the sami people that live in northern parts of Sweden, Norway and Finland weren't related to the asian genes that many other native cultures were. So i would not guess mongol dna. She is probobly Related to the Sami people or she might even have some Inuit blood in her from Greenland.
The reporter told her son that Bjork had sex with a giant octopus and Bjork told him that it was a frog from outer space but the reporter didn't like it so she kept putting a teddy bear in her face..🐸🐸🐸🐸🐙🐙🐙🐙🐙🐙🐙🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻
