Thanks a bunch for the range test, this is good data. It's nice to see bkb actually have a pretty good estimate on their spec sheets (unfortunately more than can be said for many manufacturers). All we are really missing now is comparaisons to other boards on the market, either by you or other youtubers.
Thanks! As far as comparisons there aren’t many out there to really compare to since it’s a RKP board. I don’t think there is a board out there using this quality vesc, deck, battery and remote on pneumatics for under $1400. It’s a steal imo.
I’ll have a full review up in a month or so after putting more miles on it but I think two big opportunities in the future are upgrades available for larger motors and kits with different decks. I like that they’re offering something most other brands aren’t in their decks. But, even at 32mph I’m finding the deck to feel great, which isn’t what I thought I would initially. Going over bumps, cracks etc is much nicer on the flexy that’s for sure. I could see bindings or hooks making you feel really locked in on a flexy deck. I’ve considered making my original duo deck a top mount offroad based board. Give the duo deck a handful of rides and you might find yourself liking it a lot more than you’d think.
I am so tempted to pick up this board while they are doing the $450 off the type R for black friday. It is so much board for the money. I know I would do a lot of offroad though, and I can't find much footage of people riding these through the woods. I think I may just need to suck up the price difference and buy the Acedeck NYX Z1 on a payment plan.
Man both are great choices. I’ve got the NYX sitting here right now. Finally healed up enough from a ebike fall that I’m going to get to take it out later today for a ride I think. I’d say if you’re really going to offroad it hard you could do a deck swap with the type R or go with something like the NYX. Pros and cons to both for sure. LOVE that the BKB is a vesc based board but it’s more of a street and light trail board imo. A deck swap could change that though. Sweet deal on it right now too.
I haven’t ridden the Hoyt 5” but the new tires from BKB that just came out are outstanding. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9Az9dGlyXqE.html
That hill test was that mainly up hill? What is your weight? Is it realist with the 6inch wheels to actually get to 40 miles range? Last thing will you do a test with the cloud wheels?
7 miles up, then some up and down across the peaks, then down. Then onto a another flatter path. 150 lbs with gear. I think you can get it if you’re cruising at 20 or less. Don’t have clouds wheels but can tell you they increase range a good amount over pnuematics, maybe 25-40% easily.
I’ve done it, 41mph is what I hit. Not my favorite setup for that kind of speed but honestly I don’t ride over 40 much lol. Trucks aren’t sketchy at all but I do prefer wider hangers, which BKB is testing right now. I feel much more comfortable on it up to like 35ish, but so far that’s about how I feel with most boards. If you really wanna go fast drop some split angle baseplates on it and you’ll be able to dial it in. Sometimes it’s nice to have narrower trucks to be able to get around and through tighter areas though.
@@ELECTRIC-DNA that's awesome man, I'll have to look into the split angle baseplate. I've never rode an esk8 but skateboarder regularly for about 7 years so I'm super excited to try this out and just cruise and relax. I appreciate the response man have a good day.
Epic! Get ready for a ton of fun. Take your time, these things are beasts. I recommend wearing more gear than regular skating, it’s just not the same thing. Don’t worry about all the little upgrades and stuff in the beginning, just get some board time and you’ll start figuring out what you really wanna change, upgrade etc. Once you’re comfy, hit some group rides and you’ll see a ton of variety. 🤙
@@ELECTRIC-DNA thanks man and yeah as far as safety goes I'm definitely going to air on the side of precaution. One more question, have you had any problems with the board after the warranty ran out?
@@BoredInTheComments Good call on safety, haven’t had any major issues. Most of my original duo’s parts are still in use. Everything with my type r is running fine at the moment. I did have a motor issue and they replaced it. The bummer on PEVs is that they just don’t last forever but with proper care and maintenance you can get a ton of life out of them.
I personally like wider trucks as well. Haven't had an issue at all with them though and when you see those downhill guys, they're all on narrow stuff so we know it can do it. I do like on paths and stuff not having to worry so much about clipping posts, bikes, people etc. Pros and cons I suppose
@@ELECTRIC-DNA I used to do downhilling liké 20 year ago. The reasons you put narrow truck is that you want the board to skid easily and you use the sliding technics to manage your speed. You can see that none above is applicable to an esk8 where you want to carve hard but not slide easily.
@@khaliltheking yeah that’s for sure, guess I was just pointing out that these trucks are handling things just fine out of the box but you could always customize to what ya like. 🤙
That was me in the gray shirt on the EUC chasing you down the mountain that day at around 30mph. Glad to see myself in the background in a few shots in the middle of the video and again at the end. What an epic day of riding that was!
43 3/4” long, 9.5” wide. Fantastic ride feel, one of the best flexy decks around. Be sure to get flex 1 or flex 2 when ordering based on your weight. 🤙
*good stuff!* gotta see what that thing gets with street wheels! especially those beautiful roads u got. i just wish they went to a wider deck with more concave. great video dude 👌🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
