On Thursday, March 7, 2024 the Hudson Area Library held an opening reception and panel discussion for their exhibition: A Dialogue Across Generations: Making Connections through the BLACC Collection. This exhibit is focused on the Black Legacy Association of Columbia County (BLACC) Oral History Project collection from the 1980s that was donated to the library by Columbia Opportunities, Inc. in 2018. In 2019 the library received an Institute of Museum & Library Services grant to archive the collection and digitize its oral histories. Those oral histories can be found at blacc.hudsonarealibrary.org/. In 2024 the library received a Humanities NY grant to have an exhibition and related programming. The exhibition was curated by Tanya Jackson with research, text, and assistant curation by Brenda Shufelt, History Room Coordinator, and Elaine Eichelberger, History Room volunteer. The library thanks Karl Frederick Mattson, in association with 542films (www.542films.com), for the recording and editing of this video of the opening night.
