Way back in 1995 or so, I got this workmate from my Dad when I moved to California so that I had a quick workbench in my apartment. He got it back when it was new either in the 1970's or early 1980's.The handles worked great up until the last year or two when one of them cracked and broke. I tried epoxy and glue, and neither held up, and so I finally got around to fixing it properly.
I tried to use it this weekend and re-remembered that the handle was broken, and tonight I was able to use a combination of forstner bits and chisels (and some saw cuts and sanding) to make a wood block that I was able to fit the handle pieces into that allowed me to replace the broken section. And now it works great again.
