I watched a few of Teddy's videos. He lies and makes stuff up. A. LOT. And then he responds in some variation of "I troll you lol" to the comments that calls him out, or straight up deletes them. Beside "it's chill and refreshing" take (that isn't even his, it's been the motto of lifeskilling community for ages) I can't name a damn thing he said that held true for me after I hit purple ranks in every profession. I'm pretty sure he's also infamous among western lifeskilling community for that same reason, and a lot of his videos get rightfully ratio'd. Sure, it's one thing to play chill and not minmax, but it's completely different to not even bother doing the bare minimum research required, then just make stuff up based on your surface-level experience, which was the exact thing Teddy did in all his videos I watched, before I grew wise to it after playing lifeskills myself.

That TET Clothing experience is exactly like my own. Never gonna attempt a TET Manos EVER again. 25% chance on PRI feels like a lie there. 30+ fails in a row, yep. Then DUO, fail and then 20/30/40 fails again. Every single time. Also, if you equal the masochistic task of throwing tens, hundreds of hours gathering into the black hole of Manos enhancing to "patience" and "going at your own pace" then you have to be really bored with your life, to a concerning degree. It is the most demotivating thing to do on BDO, period. Heck, if you enhance anything else but life gear you at least get a failstack in return. Manos Accs and clothes give you NOTHING but 10000% frustration. PS: Unlike Teddy, I do like minmaxing, so I made an extensive sheet that uses updated market prices and I look at it once or twice a week. Crafting TRI manos accs has been somewhat even compared to buying since their prices went up lately, but that is self-farmed and crafted/ alchemy-ed, including the vanadium from nodes etc. TET never breaks even at all, no chance in hell. For clothes: 25%/20%/15%, by themselves they seem alright, no? In truth though, your chance to get a TET, starting at PRI, is 0,75% or 1 in 133.33 tries, average. Roughly 1.3B in Gems + 3.8B in mems. Magically lands you at the 5.1B mark that is roughly your TET clothes price. All these are calculated assuming "average chances" (25% chance meaning 1 success in 4 tries) which you can only assume to be roughly true if you do 100k+ tries. For small numbers, we are looking at a lot worse chances but I will not dive that deep into statistics here. Heck, if anyone even bothered reading my comment this far lol. The TLDR is: It is designed to make you lose out, don't waste your time.

Interesting on the react to the Teddy video. I been a fan for a while and argue with him about things and praise when it is due. He has Altinova set up to make those Silver Embroydered and that is the culmination of months of work. But the guy literally gathers everything to give to his workers, and I mean it seems like it is free, and he hates spreadsheets and math, and I empathize there. He hates the lifeskill discord because he misleads people that come in there and they dis him. He says he don't want to min max but he doesn't understand what that means. 1-2% of profit is the min maxing, but he is often 40% off and you can't get through to him about it and opportunity cost. So like you showed, and the best players warn you not to upgrade accessories and things that will downgrade because it is a HUGE loss in most cases, that isn't meta, that isn't min maxing, that is literally wasting your time, which can be tracked and added up. It really wouldn't be such a big deal if he wasn't making content explaining how to do the things, even though he specifies it isn't the best way. Still entertaining, and he is a great human being making content sharing what he enjoys, so more power to him, and people learn in their own way, we all do. Nice work on this Blue, very entertaining!

So something I have struggled with as someone who enjoys lifeskilling - disregarding the argument of making vs buying, the mastery manos accessories or clothes gives you just doesn't justify the costs (at least for gathering, where it is easy to calculate that). I calculated it at one point, don't know where it is now (if I even wrote it down), but there is a chart on like Garmoth or maybe BDOlytics that shows what you get for each bracket of gathering mastery. Compare your current bracket to the one you would reach with a manos gear, then see how many hours of gathering it would take you to make the silver back if you were to buy that gear. The higher enhancement you go, the long it will take you to pay it off. It takes something stupid like 400 hours to pay off a TET manos accessory. Yes, likeskilling is relaxing and I enjoy it, but I'm not making money if I'm buying manos gear, or even making it. I make more silver by selling the gear I make, or just don't spend the silver to buy it

I agree with both sides here. Like Blue says at 14:30 it can be cheaper on average to make your own manos but it requires a lot of effort and other factors that doesn't make a whole lot of sense to do. Just buy your gear whenever possible and save yourself the headache.

Also the hotspot fishing event should be the standard all the time to make hotspot fishing somewhat okay.

One of Teddies guides came up randomly on my feed. It's actually what enticed me to play the game. The overall sandbox way you can play is fantastic. You don't always have to be the most efficient, enjoy what you are doing

Two years ago when i could barely make 500mil from two hours of lifeskilling like lumbering/butchering , i was going for tet gatherers manos clothes and once failed 25 times for duo straight, which was spread over multiple days. It is insanely extremely irreversably damaging especialy when youre NOT making bilion or two a day xD

As a f2p i mostly lifeskill. All i grind is realy cents for an hour in the morning with my coffe to blow agris everyday and once a month elvia spot for an hour or two to eventualy get my cups. I was lifeskilling only for 3 years and im only making a grinder this year. Only thing i ever enhanced is tet manos hunters clothes cuz i couldnt buy it on CM. And i click my tet BS main once in a blue moon. With daily cents and imperial guru cooking i make more then enough money to eventualy buy whatever i want. Yea dont enchance unless you have to, if this video wasnt clear enough

I agree with you and Teddy :) BDO is a sandbox for a reason. There is so much to discover here that simply focusing only on earning as much silver as possible is a huge waste of fun ! When it comes to enchanting life gear, I put all three of my TET Manos Clothes on my own, but the first time I was very lucky, the second time as well and I came out in plus, the third time I struggled longer and went to zero. However, I don't recommend enchanting TET alone, it's better to just buy it from the market. Accessories I have full TRI Manos, most for Seals, two bought at the market. I tried once out of curiosity to enchant Manos accessories that I made myself (from materials collected by workers) but it's pointless. First of all, a huge waste of time just doing manufacture Base, and a lot of CBS. Someone who already plays end-game, gets bored, can have fun with it. But the easiest way to increase the amount of Mastery, now it's best to just put new Vital Crystal from LoML :) Guaranteed gains without RNG ;P

I think I got similar way to Blue progress. "3 clicks" is the best way to do it within a month bought 3 pen manos clothes from market. Teddy maybe have some content but for me veteran of lifeskills in BDO this guy sometimes have no clue what he is doing for real.

I don't engage with the upgrade system at all outside of the seasonal gear. If I did, I'd have completely quit BDO years ago. The upgrade system is by far the absolute worst thing in BDO.

the enhancing your gear stuff is just bs tbh. there is a reason why new player have tuvala and jetina and caphras for grind gear. I calculated the average cost of life skill gear in 2022. unfortunatly i dont have the excel sheet, but because you have fixed % it still true. if you make the amor form scratch or buy base, you loose money until you hit pri compared to buying pri at max price. you then gain some profit even after tax by buying pri and selling tri (its really not much, dont bother undless you have the materials at hand and artisans) both at max price. you loose silver on tets by about 0.5-1bil iirc befor tax. its just not worth it. but the best point is: you dont use your main gear do you? lets say you make you logia tet. and now you want manos tet clothes, tri accessories. you want to tell me its smarter to have a second set of gear you enhance on thats multiple times the cost of your current gear, and then you fail on that until you have it up? instead of selling the materials, selling your own gear, skipping the second gear and buying it without any rng? like you probably already have half of the full cost, if you want to start enhancing clothes, but low and behold, here iam to gamble? even worse if you have tri manos clothes already lol. mind you i did the math befor the material price increase, but from the perspective you buy everything at max price. you at best make +/- 0. manos accessories should be a bit of profit, but you making 5 not 500. you cant expect average.

Lol, dude. This game is about a Privateering adventure. If all you are doing is grinding for gear to play a single feature (like PvP); you're gonna miss out on two thirds of the game. - A lot of lifeskillers say you should start as early as possible on the RPG side; and theres a lot of logic in that statement. Lifeskilling is not something PA are ever gonna relent on, purely because they've painstakingly crafted all this logistics, procurement and acquisitions that is the reason for this RPG system in the first place. At the top end, CP is certainly more important than energy. Its only early on you are doing things manually. After a certain point, a lot of what you are doing becomes automated through workers. Your energy requirements are a lot less. - obviously setting yourself up as a magnate is gonna pay off, a lot more than relying on no-lifing the game. The real question is "can you be bothered?".

I wrote some good words and neutral suggestions for Teddy.... once .... in the past. Never again. Because he blocked me or idk. My comments can't go online in his channel. :)

Lifeskilling not worth, if you want silver farm mobs.

I mean the message "play the game at your own pace and find your own fun" works at every stage of the game regardless of your Main income source or what ever mix you are running. BUT recommending lifeskilling to a broad audience because its chill doesnt work that way. Most players will simply quit the game if they arent achieving their goals at their wanted pace, especially if the see their friends making big bank simply by grinding orcs. Because lets be real if you want to make big money with lifeskilling you absolutely can do it, if you are able to invest the time to educate yourself on the game so that you are able to read the market and anticipate trends you will be able to make way better money than every top notch sweaty ass grinder in the game. But if you arent Blade Boquest and doesnt plan to be like him you wont make as much money per hour as an average grinder, generally speaking of course. For example do you remember when they annouced that the Oasis Event is going to end? Some people had high hopes for this day for almost two years, because they stacked their Cron Meals for the entire time of the event. Its rumored that one guy alone liquidated 80 Billion silver in 6 hours on the EU server and he wasnt alone, thats a PEN Ogre ladies and gentleman. If you dont want to play the long game i dont really can recommend Lifeskilling to you. And buy your Gear!

Considering what goes on in the rest of the video, you got _really_ fucking lucky at 2:35 and didn't even notice
