As an Englishman I’ve been throwing things at the TV for successive world cups but listening to these guys and the respect they have for the opposition and the game, actually helps me. Well done the Black Ferns, rugby is proud of you.
@@floydkingi4364 you tease me mate! But I’ve already done that and I’m still on my third TV. We should have won that! But I’m still with our girls they are brilliant. I say again, well done NZ you should be proud, fantastic!
what a wonderful press conference. Real people answering questions thoughtfully and without the usual scripted platitudinous answers you get from most teams. Very very proud.
So refreshing….teams (especially NZ teams) gotta drop the media training. It’s sooooo cheesy n cringe 😬with the players when answering questions. Leave that for the cliche politician’s, and dckhead managers 😮 in NZ.
I certainly knew the name and had seen Ruahei play on a few occasions. One time down in Christchurch she even very kindly signed a collectable rugby card for me. But, taking 5 weeks off work to attend the RWC and watching 14 games over 4 weekends, and seeing 3 Black Ferns games, Ruahei has totally become my absolute favourite Women's rugby player. A great leader, utterly reliable, clever, skilled, and one of the most mistake-free players I've ever had the pleasure of watching, Ruahei is an absolute joy to watch. Onwards and upwards Ruahei, you are the absolute best!!! And as for Sir Wayne, I don't think I need to say anything. I think the country already knew what an absolute legend this gentleman is. :-)
I'm exhausted. Its been hours and still cry happy tears. That game was brilliant and hard fought for over 80 minutes. Heroic moments that changed history. Game for the ages.
Congratulations to Ruahei and all the Black Ferns. I am so proud to be a Kiwi and seeing the way the country got behind the girls. Ruahei presents herself so well; her poise, her speech, her thought fullness, her respect for the opposition. Also thanks has to be extended to Smithy, Ted, Mike Cron, Dan Carter, etc for turning the team around.
Simply outstanding! England were awesome. France and Canada were outstanding. Black Ferns were in a special place, and delivered. Well done NZ on packing Eden Park. Well done NZR for making it happen. Well done Black Ferns for your refreshing attitude and positive and professional approach to this incredible RWC. You have created a legacy, and you have won over 5 million+ new fans! Thank you.
Even taking the pandemic into account, NZ rugby was completely embarrassed during the Northern Tour last year and by the subsequent aftermath. The turnaround is nothing short of remarkable. Thanks Smithy&Co.
Nah they weren’t embarrassed a team cannot win every game considering they hadnt played in a couple years the northern hem plays more games but things are changing and 6 world cups cant beat that can ya
@@superhoriguy3164 Totally agree. The Black Ferns were basically set up to lose that tour. You can't play for more than two years and expect to come anywhere near competing with professional teams. The results on that tour should have been totally expected, and perversely have lead to the wonderful position we are in now.
@@superhoriguy3164 They weren't mere losses though. They were historic hammerings. BF are a proud team and felt it. An amazing comeback victory but let's not pretend it wasn't by the skin of our teeth and a wave of support. More work to do.
@@justinmccullough6828 They were completely set-up. NZ Rugby is so caught up in conservative brand building they have stopped innovating on the pitch. ABs are a case in point.
@@LeRobusier mate dont pretend you know how the girls felt - give me a break - the loss in the NH was the catayst to make sure they won the cup yet again out of the hands of the roses
Congratulations Ruahei, the black ferns and the coaches and everyone involved in this World Cup. I was at the semi and final with my family and the experience was awesome. This game was so exciting. If you turned your eyes away for one second you’d miss something magical. What I loved about this womens game is that there were very little penalties. They play a clean honest game. A lot is being said about the red card, but let’s not forget we lost our/the top try scorer as a result and Portia was in devastating form carving up their defence before she was concussed from the tackle. Let’s also remember we were down to 14 players also in the last 18 minutes when we got a yellow card. England lead the whole game. But we won fair and square. ✌🏽😍❤️❤️❤️😀😀😀
Would now love to see boys playing traditional womans sport in all areas like the girls will achieve amazing things without the higher standards required
Well done Black Ferns, so proud! They played brilliant unstructured counter attack rugby like past All Blacks, thanks to the professor Wayne Smith. Under his reign, All Blacks scored 65% of their tries from counter attack and badly missing from Foster's team.
Obviously, huge respect to the players on both sides - tremendous talent and grit in each of those women. But as a coach, I'm just in awe of Wayne Smith. He turned around an almost impossible situation in the Black ferns created by the previous coach and NZRFU and helped those women become world beaters. Between what he's done with the AB's and the Black Ferns, he has to go down as one of the greatest rugby coaches of all time.
@@eamonndoyle136 rubbish nz has beaten eng 5 x before and this is their 6th all cups against england nz 6 cups eng 2 cups - you lot are such sore losers not surprised potato
Was an inspired choice getting him involved after the ructions of last year. England were very gracious in defeat, a fantastic team and set up. Humble guy, and helped out immeasurably with his undoubted rugby nous.
Im glad the Black Fern's preference for fast creative back-line open play prevailed over England's reliance on their mauls. Respect to England for fighting with 14, but kudos to NZ for a well deserved win in spectacular style....! 6 World cups in the last 7 - that will take some beating 👍👍
Congratulations wahine Toa! You did it. You came, you conquered and you showed the world... we maybe a small nation but we shall not be moved haha!! Celebrate New Zealand!

Well done to all teams a credit to the game and hearty congratulations to New Zealand and please world rugby give the ladies a decent trophy that one looks like it came out of a Subbuteo box
Absolutely. To all the women's rugby world cup team's representing their country's thank-you for an incredible tournament this is why I believe Rugby Union is the greatest team sport in the world. Barr None
Master stroke by NZR to appoint "Wayne Smith" as head coach of the Black Ferns, just look at how far this team has come under his tutelage, from where they were only a year ago to where they are now is mind blowing, now the question must be asked, why couldn't the NZR Board have done the same with our mens team by appointing the best possible candidate for the head coaches role right from the start, in doing so putting the Abs in a position to give them the best chance at success, leaving no stone unturned! But No they didn't! Chumps!!! 🤦🏻♂️
The mens day is done now. It is all about the women now. Don't you know that civilization and everything great that was ever was ever achieved was done by the women. Men are just sperm doners there to serve the ladies. Put them on a pedestal and tell them how wonderful they are for achieving boys juniour high school levels. This womens rugby team proves just how much better at everything women are than men. Waste of resources if you are asking me. But yeah, keep hyping them up though.
Yes. I've been regularly ranting about the poor quality of sound (no mics for the media asking questions) mainly for the men's rugby. But nothing had changed for years. So I was most impressed with this post match interview. We could all hear. Cheers
Unbelievable!!!! They were walloped by England and France when they toured. What an incredible job 👏🙌👌by NZ. Sir Henry, Wayne Smiith and Dan Carter have been important. The Black Ferns though....woooooow!!! WELL DONE!!!
@@spidermek5416 Hmmm.... Does Pita have some inside knowledge? If Wayne can turn around the fortunes of the Black Fern's in such a short period!!I who knows what he can achieve with the Silver Ferns. Take note NZRFU (Mark "One Term" Robinson) Wayne has just shown you the significance of having a Great Coach and the difference it makes between Poor - Mediocre - Sublime performances. In the Wairua of Sir Wayne Smith's philosophy "Great Coaches don't do things by the book, they don't follow the herd they forge their own path".
Congratulations Black Ferns 🖤 It was difficult but well done 💪 I Love you FOREVER AND EVER ❤ Lets go Blacks Ferns 🖤 Lets go party and enjoy the victory 🖤🏉👍💪🌞😄 Rugby is the best 🏉
Im so proud to be a Kiwi! Well done Ladies & the whole coaching staff, amazing tournament & the best finish possible! We are the Champions!!! You fukin beauty! 👊🇳🇿
I apologise profusely to the Black Ferns. I said that no team would beat England. Their power, speed and ball handling in all previous games made them a certainty. But, the Black Ferns are from the land of Edmund Hillary, Peter Snell, Buck Shelford, Pinetree Meads, Peter Blake and others who didn’t know how to lose. For the fist quarter I thought “here we go” the unstoppable machine. But, you eventually beat them at their own game. The shadow of Wayne Smith was clear and in the end superior skills overcame raw power. Take your place in the history of Aotearoa as one of the “GOATs”
Watching her where she was standing you could see her confidnece and boy did some of that give one a heart attack. She stayed the course it was risky. There were a couple of times when it didnt come off and played into Englands hands but they stayed true to the plan and processes. Phew, exciting, heart stomping you could not have had such an epic match. Every minute was go go go.
We need to remember to Stay Humble and Real we won with 15 they lost with 14 and they took us right down to the wire. Wayne Smith you did an amazing job!!!
Congratulations Black Ferns and especially to your wonderful coach Wayne Smith. That was an enormously fabulous result. How lucky the girls were to have such a great coaching team. I and my daughter watched every moment of this really exciting game. England were amazing with there 14 players. So Rugby World Cup Executive you need to change the red card rule. Punish them by all means but allow a replacement otherwise it’s simply not fair.
Nah its fair. Portia suffered a head injury, potentially life changing. The players need to look after each other because when it really comes down to it, its just game.
Miiharo.... still humble, and the way all of you carried yourself on the field, was a great win for NZ All Black Ferns, all I can say is you guys put in the hard yards, and came out winning even if you guys lost, you are all still awesome to us all. Well done, Wayne and the Captain Kennedy for leading the team. Stein lager Award coming up hopefully for Captain Kennedy??????
Let us not forget the massive contribution that Wayne Smith brought to the table his appointment considering the disaster of last year's northern hemisphere tour was an inspired choice his tactical nous and forward thinking turned things around and that showed out in the performances of the Black Ferns as a whole especially in the Final
England, what a great team. We may play a contrasting style of rugby down here but it doesn't make either teams style the best. Such a back & forth Game, Red card, yellow card, concussions, last gasp line out steal 15v14.... We can come up with all the scenarios & possible excuses, but it was just an exciting game to witness. I've always been an AB's supporter but will now make the effort to watch more womens rugby. Go the black ferns & women's rugby....
England had the best forward pack in women's world rugby leading into the final and that view is unchanged, what a phenomenally lethal weapon their ruck and maul are close to the try line, the kiwi girls were not far behind, it was a combined effort, backs and forwards that won it for the ferns, although I thought Stacey Fluhler's form was awesome, but what a monumental effort by the ferns going down to the wire.
Well done the coaching staff and team, you's all epitomise what new zealand is all about, do your best, humble yourselves and honour the opposition, awesome, from a kiwi living in Australia 😄👍
Look at her, da way she looks at him, wat a coach, wat a leader, she has to take a lot credit fr da way dis team playd n won, GOOD LEADERS DEMAND DA BEST, KIA ORA KIA KAHA
Sky TV made a documentary on Wayne Smith's career. Well worth watching. It's hard to think your estimation of him could rise even further but watch the doco and it will.
Geez, I thought the presser with England's skipper Sarah Hunter and her eloquent coach Simon would take some beating, but this was incredible. I am so used to hearing cliches trotted out post-match that I usually switch off but this was so engaging to hear frank and sensible answers......I hope it continues and sets a new benchmark for their male counterparts but I'm not holding my breath.
I'm an All Black supporter and actually picked England to win this tournament and this game was the obvious reason for that. Having said that l'm elated for the Black Ferns. Congratulations to the team, Wayne Smith and all involved with the Ferns 👏👏👏 I feel for you Roses 🌹. True competitors👏👏👏 Some may say there wasn't much in it but clearly in this game of champions and winners a matter of seconds decided which of you was either. Thoroughly enjoyed watching this tournament. Hats off to the organizers👏👏👏 C'mon Sky Sport...get with the program!!!
So proud off u ladies it's a hi level off achievement for young ladies use have open up opportunities for girls in New Zealand to be like yous and it's gonna take young ladies to work hard and that alone is inspirational and beautiful to look forward too!!
We are fortunate to have had Smity and a good coaching team take over after that disastrous northern tour last year . I wished Foster had considered Smity to help out the ABs after what happened when Ireland toured earlier on this year,
The unfortunate thing is that she made a mistake by not kicking the penalty out so to keep the Roses out of their(nz) half considering we were under four minutes left, but played the ball that has killed us to the end. It's a no-no(risky) strategy to execute. The Roses gave us a fright. She probably regrets that decision but struggles openly. A lesson to be learned and a reminder to the ladies going forward. The night was saved by No19. The Roses and French are the most impressive teams NZ has ever faced at this World Cup. What a superb performance it was. Congratulations to the Black Ferns. What a relief!...whew!!! Well done ladies! 👍👍👍
Gotta say, I like many hadn’t given woman’s rugby enough attention. But what a spectacle to watch this was! New Zealand and a sold out Eden Park has realised these woman play an absolutely awesome game. Move over AB’s
I can't help feeling as an English viewer that this competition was largely overlooked in the UK. Partly because the time difference meant matches were played in the middle of the UK night or very, very early morning. Partly because the BBC not having the rites to show it, hardly admitted it was happening at all. Lots to do with its postponement from 2021 due to the pandemic, which meant it was competing for air time against World cup Cricket, World Cup Rugby league, men's, women's, and wheelchair, the autumn men's international Rugby Union, and partly because the UK media are getting far too excited about the impending Football world cup. I mentioned the Women's Rugby Union world cup among my work colleagues and they weren't even aware of it, this was not at its start but by the time NZ and Eng had got through to the final. I think as far as promoting the game in the Uk, sadly it's been a damp squib with only people in the know already taking time out to find it. As far as I can tell, although ITV showed some of the matches live, they were not repeated during normal waking hours. However congratulations to NZ for their win, and congratulations to the Red Roses for a 30 match undefeated run and pushing a great team for 60 minutes while a player down.
how sad because the red roses are head and shoulders above the male team and what a great final the english viewers missed out on - better game than any game the male team has ever played at a cup level
They have massive weakness their backline aren't that good the black ferns back line are far better England forward pack is far better than out only problem is the English only use the forwards
That communication media guy needs a ding bat for his arrogance or ignorance. That reporter, a WOMAN (hello, it's a women's tournament) no doubt identifying with the captain's ethnicity, from Marae NZ was just totally dismissed. Then he moves onto a male reporter? Okay, the question may have been said earlier but duh having a Maori perspective to a question is different from mainstream media. Utterly rude.
She had an opportunity to ask a question, and repeated one already asked, she blew it, don't blame the guy running it. There's no difference in perspective on the question based on who's asking it.
Rubbish, questions were already asked and then answered by a Toa Wahine. Pick your game up if you don't want to be ridiculed. Its a Professional game now, be professional.
@@DomingoDeSantaClara That's where you're culturally narrow minded. They aren't like Pakeha to start pushing their wright around. Look at her face showing bewilderment. That's humility on her part. I would have stood up and walked out unapologetically.
@@matakitaki1 Get used to a Maori captain at the helm. I noticed you men posting as if women have to follow the vanilla ice media line. This is not the ABs. This is this problem with men trying tell these players how to conduct themselves in a male dominated domain. How many years does it take to break the glass ceiling? And by the way, any LGBT in the ABs?
Congrats Black Ferns!!! Calm?... hmmm those of us who were watching were anything BUT, forced and wayward passes, handling errors, poor individual decision making, aimless kicking. I wouldn't say they were composed or calm. The English were extremely courageous and unlucky not to win despite having a player down for 63+ mins of the game. That last 15 mins was a little harder than it should've been, kicking possession back to the opposition not once, not twice but three times in your own half (and not finding the sideline) was bad game management especially with an extra player advantage in the last 5 mins.... we were very fortunate it didn't come back to bite us.
@@listeningto8371 Mate just because they WON doesn't mean you should dismiss or diminish the poor decision making that was made particularly in the last 10 mins. Game management to close out the game was missing with repeated aimless kicking handing possession back to England with no pressure on the kick allowing England to pin us in our own 22, poor unnecessary tactics by the Black Ferns. Perhaps you should learn the difference between winning and performance. Coaches don't measure a teams performance by their result? so why do so many punters. It's illogical and doesn't provide the detail required to improve performance and consistency, after all isn't that what all teams are striving for?
@@hmmmyeahnahdoh823 they literally just won. Give them a moment to celebrate for God's sake. They will break it down later and they won't be reading your analysis when they do.
@@michaellaidler7143 Absolutely agree, they deserve a break after their win. It's far better to provide feedback while it's still fresh given this was their last match for the year, the likelihood of them analyzing the game in any great detail diminishes over time. If the Black Ferns are taking advice from RU-vid comments then they probably have far bigger problems to worry about. Given the extra player advantage the Black Ferns had after the red card they didn't make it easy for themselves despite the valiant performance the English displayed.
How many times I have to remind everybody that what our B. F did to ROSE 🌹in 2017, they did it again 2022. No different. All talk about 30 win on the trot, bla! BLA bla .That's yesterday. Now is the NOW!!!!!
