This video should be mandatory viewing by anyone who is starting into the world of "Off Road" exploration. Some of the best advice I have ever heard on a RU-vid Video. Thanks for putting so much effort into this.
Great video! I first wheeled the Black Hills back in the 80s- and made most of the mistakes you mentioned. I’m all grown up now, and my wife and I have spent a lot of vacation time ‘wheeling the Black Hills. I have noted the reluctance of locals to talk about trail locations and such, and I understand why. Like you, I do my own research and I’ve been successful. Love the Black Hills and thanks for a great video!
Thanks for the video. I just picked up a 4runner. I'm east river and love coming out there on my bikes. Now I have another thing I can enjoy in my favorite part of the state.
Great video. I moved to South Dakota from the Sierra's in California right at the foot of the Rubicon. This is happening everywhere. It is sad how fast they are closing trails, they do it for any reason they can. Lets not give them an excuse and fight to keep the trails open
Hey just got a sxs I’m 72” wide. I downloaded the maps per the forest service on Avenza what’s the best map you recommend using the black and white ones I have a hard time seeing any in color or satellite overlay? Or something that will only show me what I can ride vs the 62” or less thanks!
Where can I get the maps. This is something I've really wanted to do but never know where to get what I need! I've gone out in the bad lands only because a friend asked me to tag along. Lol
I have downloaded the avenza app and the Northern Hills map. But I'm going to ride my dual sport bike over to devil's tower. What other maps do I need to download?
Hey James, for the most part, I don't. If you do plan to, make sure you let others know where you're going! Watch your low points, like your oil pan. A high clearance 4x4 or AWD would be preferred.
