The 1st trails on the 2022 Jeep Devaluation Tour took us to Calamity Jane, Bear Mountain, and Camp 5 Road.
We found out very quickly that we are not built enough for South Dakota's "6 of 10" rated trails. We've done 7 and 8 rated in Colorado, so either their rating scale is different, or Colorado is wrong lol.
I hit my transmission pan, oil pan, diffs, axles, frame, fenders, EVERYTHING on this one, and decided to play it safe after the first 400 yards of this trail kicked our butts.
South Dakota was an absolute blast, stay tuned next weekend for more wheeling action!

You can really scrape the barnacles off on those rocks--I mean trails!! Holy cow! That was some crazy ROCKing and rolling. The rocks varied in size so much, but made up for it with their jaggedness!

We did Jake on the last day lol!! That video is coming in a few weeks.

Very cool! It's great that you're laughing. I tend to curse like a sailor with every scrape, and could not make a film about such a trail unless it was bleeped the bleep out. I think you should have taken the left turn instead of doing the river bed. Just a thought.

Hit your transmission pan? I’m surprised you don’t have aftermarket skid plates that cover the engine, trans and transfer case, we have the Smittybilt steel skid plates on both our Jeeps for protection.

I stopped thinking about modifications when I placed the order for my bronco.

Enjoyed your video....a word of advice from a South Dakota local... skid plates here are NOT optional... and the trail rating here...well...a 4 here is a 7 at other places. If you come back out here I'd like to meet up with you

we all quickly realized your difficulty ratings DO NOT MATCH other states hahaha. i would really like to get back to SD with my Bronco now! don't think i can do it in 2024, we'll have to see.

@@JustinKingOffroad if you're interested in what a level 8+ trail looks like , check out our video on fruity pebbles. And we'll be editing and releasing a trail walk on lower captain crunch....a level 10 plus

Looks like you need a few upgrades if you continue to run tracks like these. Smash and bash with nothing broken was amazing.

after i knew i hit the transmission, i was extremely careful with tire placement lol. 4 inches away were the trans cooler lines... that's a bad day if you rip those off.

Time for some more skid plates...

Dude! You ran part of Calamity (and were thinking about Hal Johns!) in a 4-door on apparently 35s with no aftermarket skid plates, no aftermarket diff covers and factory control arms? Holy crap, you're brave. What trails are next? Kong? T-Back? Bikini? ;-)

I think "stupid" is more like it lmao. Apparently South Dakota 6s are way harder than Colorado 6s lol

@@JustinKingOffroad LOL! Yeah, some of the trails in SD are extreme to be sure! Fortunately they have milder trails as well.

Justin, I cringed for you when I heard that first clank. Then the guy said” that wouldn’t happen on “37’s “😂

@@JustinKingOffroad I don’t blame you for saving the paint job and tranny for another day. Not a chicken but a smart move.

Is there anything that’s doable on 33s in the black hills? Zero experience rock crawling, wouldn’t wanna get stuck or stranded.
@JustinKingOffroad
@JustinKingOffroad 2 месяца назад
Oh yes absolutely. Most of the roads up there are just nice easy drives. As the week went on we were purposely getting into the harder stuff just to see what SD ratings were like compared to Colorado.

Is your purpose to run your vehicle as close to stock as possible I know you do a lot of off-road recoveries but I've seen people who have more Stout more element resistibility and still be able to do recoveries but if it's your personal preference to run a stock vehicle then that's your preference but I think you got a bug I think you like the trails you were on and you're going to have to get a little more flexible and a little more armor thanks for the video

well honestly, the JL has like 14+ inches of ground clearance to the frame. we've driven colorado "6's" without incident or just careful tire placement. i knew we were gonna push the envelope a bit in SD but i wasn't expecting quite that much lol. even the red jeep on 37s with 4+ inches of lift wasn't built enough for these "6" obstacles.
