Peter Frampton is one class act!! I LOVE how he didn't sing, but let the guitar be Chris Cornell's voice! Beautiful tribute to a beautiful soul! WE MISS YOU CHRIS!!!!
So I think Chris Cornell already heard it because Peter Franmpton has covered this song for like 15 years if you were a true frampton fan you'd know....
That Guitar Is enunciating All the Words. . Other than a Hint of Talk Boxing blended With Extreme Heart and Soul after all Pete fell Inlove with the Song. Who Hasn't? I did
Peter Frampton has been an artist of great substance through the years. Its wonderful to see him play his heart out for the irreplacable Chris Cornell.Well done sir! I felt that !!!!!!!!!
Marvin Allen that has to be the best cover tribute yet ... god bless sir ;) ..... I still can't listen to Chris Cornell with out having tears , grew up with him, loved him and still do :(
I remember driving down the road as a teenager blasting Frampton on my 8 track player. He is still a master of making his guitar "talk". Definitely a master of his guitar since he was a young man. He only got better with age. His tribute is one of a kind for Chris who is missed dearly. Thank you.
Wow! just wow.... That performance is testament to the talent of Peter Frampton to be able to bring so much to what is already a near perfect song, but also s fitting tribute to Chris Cornell and the legacy he left that so many talented musicians have wanted to pay tribute to him and his work. Again though, wow!
This is such a great example of how to pay tribute. Peter manages to give his gift to the song in a way that honours it, without making it about himself. Wonderful. So well done. Class act.
I was never a big Frampton fan until he went on Stern. It was one of the best interviews and I could feel his enthusiam for life and music. Much respect and I now understand the power of Frampton. Yes I feel like you do!
Just saw Peter play this KICK ASS instrumental version of Black Hole Sun. It was an awesome moment in the Steve Miller/Peter Frampton concert. Great tribute!!!
Frampton " Comes Alive " for Chris Cornell !! One of the better tributes I've seen from an Incredible musician ( Frampton ) who once held the Music World under his Thumb to One of the Best Singers of our time. Who passed way too early...
In high school I first learned of and bought and loved Peter Frampton. He never went downhill and I appreciate so much he covered Cornell before he died and then honored him after. Awesome coverage and thank you for posting this.
As I have always said, covering a song is not about making it sounding just like the original. It is about making it your own. I write with tears in my eyes, thinking perhaps Chris would have loved this, I know I did. Thanks Peter.
At first I thought the reason for the lyric'less version was because the original could'nt be compared to anything...But my god this brought chills to the spine and this guy has a genuine feel about every stroke he plays on the guitar, every expression on his face. It's just a genuinely a lovely thing to have done, so kudos!!
Frampton is amazing. I loved him when I was 16, listening to Frampton Comes Alive, and he's still great. I heard him in concert a couple years back, and he played this song. I couldn't believe my luck!! Hearing it now is crushingly sad; there'll never be another Chris Cornell. RIP.
gorgeous, heartfelt, emotional performance. Chris would have LOVED the section with the talk box - great improv and sounded so grungy and dirty - what a tribute!
I think its a sign of massive respect by Frampton that he didnt sing the lyrics of the song. The music alone was enough to send my neck hairs standing. 10 out of 10
