Peter Frampton, a flippin' legend, drops Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun" on an unsuspecting and remedial Chicago crowd. Good times (and confusion) ensue!
Managed to see Peter in Glasgow last week, and it was the most entertaining nights i have enjoyed in many years..I bought "Come's alive" in 76, and i had never forgotten what an exceptional muscian this guy actually is, and he fully interacts with his audience, a true Gentleman!..The gig has left me hungry for more!!!..The greatest respect and love to you Peter!!!!!!
I AM a soundgarden fan and I ADORE Peter. But... I wasn't into the guitar only rendition with a few voice bytes here and there. Soundgarden was better in my humble opinion.
Peter Frampton, always hits the right note, he's plays one the sweetest sounding guitar ever. Dude is one of my all-time favorites. MY FIRST CONCERT was after "FRAMPTON comes ALIVE" become a mega hit in the music industry. So my first concert was Peter Frampton live Birmingham, AL on Sept. 1977. I'm sure I was the black person among 19,000. Great show and it's a night I'll never forget.
Sweet, holy damn! This man just gets better and better with age. What a fantastic gift to see him play with this song. A gifted artist that gives us all the gift of his music. Always impressive.
A stroke of Genius to even choose this song to play.KICKS ASS! I first heard this version on internet radio.WOW! It sounds even better on the studio version...Peter Frampton is Still Rockin' In The Free World!
Check out: Peter Frampton "Blackhole Sun" on Guitar Center Sessions on DIRECTV --it is an even better performance--really excellent--and much better quality video as well.
WOW!!! this is like one of the top ten coolest things i've ever heard!.... PF gives the song a really dirty and haunting feel while at the same time sounding really beautiful.... it's definitely gonna get favorited.....thanks for posting this!
Excellent quality, excellent mix, make sure and listen with a good set of head phones. The man can still romp with musicians half his age. Thanks for posting.
Found this by accident.... he shows why he is a guitar/rock legend taking a great song in its own right and doing it his way.... awesome... I am sure Sound Garden appreciated it.
I'm glad yer still here brother. Rock n Roll and my daughter carried me through some of the roughest times of post-cancer diagnosis. I can relate, I think -- I know all of our experiences are unique, but I hear your message.
dude fu**in TORE IT UP. Wow. What a bad ass cover of a bad ass song -- two generations of rock in roll awesomeness expertly wrapped up by a legend in his own time. Thank God that Frampton didn't go the way of so many rock n roll guitar gods and legends. Thanks Mr. Frampton.
I'm really amazed that all these older musicians are discovering the songs of the younger generation, and some of them, like this man, find a way to take their songs and elevate them to a whole new level of awesomeness, real rock and roll will never die.
French cut jeans with no pockets and flare bottoms, long hair, muscle cars, streakers and Frampton Comes Alive with the voice box...late 77 summer, Great memories. Great cover of inspired song. Frampton Lives Again!
It's great to see the old school recognize the brilliance of Chris Cornell. I had the Frampton COmes Alive album when it was new and am now a huge Cornell fan.
This is an incredible performance, not only from Peter Frampton, but all of the band. Amazing they still look great, and no wonder this was nominated for a grammy. He really is a genius. It's about time his talent and accomplishment were recognized.
Love Frampton...Also goes to show how great the song is if can be Framptonized...Watch Chris perform it live acoustically...What a great tune !!! Frampton definately made his mark on the music scene when he came out !!! AWESOME !!!
Peter Frampton has to be one of the greatest guitar players of all time. PERIOD. His music changes molds your attitude, changes you perspective, and leaves you wanting more. If you look up music in the dictionary, you will see Peter Frampton's face....
one of the best performance I've ever see of Black Hole Sun, of course, besides Chriss acoustic version for Yahoo Videos... It gets me goosebumps everytime I see this. God bless Peter and Chris!!!!! dannnnnnm!!!!!!!!!
A master of his craft, Frampton delivers beyond awesome. This performance is stunning. Jaw dropping rock and roll at it's very, very best! (IMHFO of course).
Love both versions but, Frampton kicks ass!!I'm glad he decided to do this cover. So many youngin's don't even know who he is or the huge impact he made with his music. He's still rockin' strong to this day!
peter frampton is a God of guitar, and he made an already amazing song even more amazing, i love guitar insted of vocals, and he pulls this off amazingly
Yeah I got to see him night two at Avalon Ballroom in Niagara Falls.. It was amazing.. This was the highlight of the whole night cause I didn't know he was going to play it at all.. He's a brilliant guitarist, definitley did this song justice.. Love the auto wah he uses throughout, then finally with his talkbox.. I've heard the studio version of this song, doesn't have quite the same feeling as live versions I've heard..
damn its awesome with Vocals but even more awesome when he makes the Guitar talk for the words! totally amazing, Unspeakable! im shocked! I loved it! WTG Peter
Can you imagine the reaction...the guys in Soundgarden had the first time they heard this? Shit...The Peter Frampton is playing our song! Talk about an honor....
man, that crowd was almost STERILE! I'm normally not a huge fan of cover versions when it comes to songs, but when played by a legend like Mr. Frampton, I suppose they can actually be pretty awesome!
