Black Identity | A Return To Africa | Trip To Ghana - Latest video 

I visited in August and I was so depressed when it was time to leave Ghana. I was on tour with about 12 others and we all felt the same way. To come back to America was not a happy feeling. I actually felt like I was leaving home to go to a foreign place. I have been dreaming to go back every since.

Growing up in Ghana... And now as a grown up aboard I always hear my mum say.. 'Ghana is a little Heaven!!' that's what you experienced. it's always on her lips. 'Ghana is a little HEAVEN.'

Growing up in Ghana 🇬🇭 the code of conduct was very strict and implemented to the core. At school, our teachers would spank us if we were wrong. Even someone in higher grade can punish a junior class for wrong doing. Respect and tolerance was the order of the day. Holidays were extremely fun with family and the whole neighborhood. The food was natural and I honestly didn’t know anything called homelessness, or knew there was anyone homeless. Moved to America at age 14... now almost 30, doing adult and America is definitely not made for the African blood. Too individualistic and family members hating each other... that took me by surprise. Kids don’t play outside, and people don’t even have genuine friends. Cops killing Our people left and right. Well I used to idolize America as a kid in Ghana. Now I can’t wait to go back home to Ghana 🇬🇭 and take my knowledge and skills to build and invest in my people and country! We have our issues in Ghana (Africa in general) but we understand LIFE! And the value of LIFE! I’m always sad when I go to black communities and see the systematic racist institutions. Food deserts, more drugs houses than grocery stores. We will rise folks! I love that people are realizing the truth! And I love what you are doing! Thank you for all that you are doing Brother. I am an African who was born in Brooklyn, NY. I have been to Ghana twice and was blessed to visit Elmina Castle in 1999. My wife is Togolese. I have been teaching our correct history for 30 years. Your program is something I will share with others because not enough of us understand why we must go back. Just getting our children to accept the fact that they are Africans has been a struggle in my teaching experiences, but they do warm up to that fact by the time they leave my class. The more we are taught the truth about ourselves, the stronger we get. I am just a few short years from transplanting my life to Togo and beginning part two of my life. I can't wait! Peace and Blessings to you and all that you touch with your efforts.

A part of us will always be drawn to our native people and land. We are African people no matter what they did to us in Africa, the Americas, and the carribeans we are still here!!! We are more than resilient!! May our African heartbeat continue to synchronise and unite us.. Am from Gambia west Africa, we have a strong history of Slavery. listening to this podcast makes me see things differently. We have slave dungeon, and we went there when I was in junior school cos is part of our curriculum. But u guys make me look at it differently. U are educating all black people including the once from Africa thank you. Am at work listening to this and crying.

I just finished watching this video. My family is planning to travel to Ghana and Nigeria in December. I WANT YOU GUYS TO THINK ABOUT THIS!!!! At the end you referred to our spirit getting us through. BUT, our spirit is what allowed our ancestors to build pyramids that to this day, they cannot figure how we did it. I truly believe that as we come together we need to recapture that spirit. For in that spirit we still possess power. As we come together that power increases. That is their greatest fear. That is why they stripped us of our identity. Truly together we stand, divided we fall. Let us not fall again.

I never heard anything negative about AA when I was growing in Africa. The missionaries only taught us about Christ and that was their objectives. I learned about slave trade in school but I thought that was so long ago, I had no idea the damage it had done to our brothers and sisters until I came to America in the early eighties. It was sad at first and then finding out that the AA really didn't want anything to do with us was more profound.

The river site was an auction site. So the captives had to bath to look presentable for sale.....may the ancestors rest in peace.

Yes a lot of kids that go Ghana into the educational system end up in a class behind their peers due to them not marching up to their age group's standards and vise versa, kids coming into the American system end up a class ahead.

Harris I don't know the number castles and Forts that you have been visiting in Ghana but,I will suggest that in your next visit just tell your tour guide to take you to the remaining forts, that the Europeans built,The Europeans built 66 Castles and Forts in Africa and out of that Castles and Fort 46 is stationed in Ghana.There are more Forts and Castles which is not open to the public. For instance James Fort in Accra which was built by the British in 1673,in James Fort there are no dungeon but is a death sentence Fort built to punish the local rebels and the slave rebels, inside the huge James Fort is total darkness and is a condemn prison .James Fort has a big wall nails and roof nails,inmates there do not sleep,they squat till they die. The next is Ussher Fort built by the Dutch in 1649,inside the Ussher Fort also have Holocaust dungeons that is not open to the public. The next is Kumasi Fort which is called the Armed Forces Museum,history tells us that Governor Rotary who stole the King of Ashanti gold to Britain after the defeat of Ashanti in Sir Garnet Woesley war,remember that the Ashantis fought 130 years war with the British the final defeat of the Ashantis was the Yaa Asantewaa war.When he landed in Britain his body began to decompose whiles he was alive and when he was dying he wrote in his will that is it because of the stolen gold that he is dying so that gold must be return to Ashanti,his wife shipped all the gold in huge boxes to Kumasi when the gold arrived in Ghana the first President Dr,Kwame Nkrumah wanted to claim the gold to Ghana coffers and Ashanti King too is claiming it to Manhyia Palace so in 1953 that Fort was built to keep the gold and it is under the Fort building till date. I hope you will visit more tourist site in your next trip.
