Later, when one of Lala’s people injures Jen, Jefferson seeks them out for revenge. He’s beyond looking for justice, he wants people to hurt like her hurts, and that makes him dangerous.
The rest of the Pierce family is coping a little bit better. Lynn has been experimenting with the serum that lets anyone borrow meta powers, using it on herself to gather data and do some masked vigilantism-oh, how the turntables. Jennifer and Anissa take on the 100s as their alter egos Thunder and Lightning, but their constant interference puts them on Lala’s radar. After they bust a large deal, Lala equips his people with anti-meta guns and sets a trap, which they fall into. Lala tells his people to go for Lightning because she’s stronger, and they do. She heals from the gunshot quickly, but when she’s on her regular fly about -flying is her thing now- her powers disappear. Mid-flight, while she is high above the clouds. We don’t see what happens, but it’s looking dire. The implications are huge, and with this being the last season-and actress Chyna McClain announcing her departure-the show might actually Go There with these characters, meaning nobody is safe.

Jefferson's younger daughter, "an independent, outspoken scholar-athlete with a wild streak of her own" who is a student at Garfield High. It is later revealed that she also possesses powers of electrical manipulation, but unlike her father, Jennifer's cells can additionally generate pure electricity. She initially struggles with the revelation of her abilities and her family's superhero legacy, but after undergoing metahuman therapy to stabilize her powers and emotions, Jennifer eventually joins her father and sister as the vigilante Lightning. ✔ Flight: Jennifer can generate an electrical field around her body that allows her to levitate by pushing her electrical power under her. This power was first shown to be an unconscious response to the growing power within her body, causing her to levitate several feet above her bed while she slept, but she has since learned how to consciously use it, as seen when she sat cross-legged in a meditative position several feet above the floor in an effort to concentrate on pulling the power back inside of herself. Jennifer is so in control of her powers that she could focus to the point that she can fly on command and endure doing so even into the higher reaches of the atmosphere.
✔ Meta-human physiology: Jennifer inherited the metagene from her father, Jefferson Pierce, granting her superhuman powers. The raw strength of Jennifer's powers were described by Perenna as "like nothing she's ever seen" in all of her years counseling meta-humans, suggesting that Jennifer is extraordinarily powerful even among her fellow meta-humans.
✔ Electrokinesis: Jennifer has the power to generate electric shocks and bursts from her hands. This power was first activated when her friend Keisha fell down a scaffolding, scaring Jennifer so much that she zapped the poster she was holding and caught it on fire.
✔ Electrical absorption: Similar to her father, Jen can absorb electricity from nearby electronics such as phones and light bulbs. She has also recently demonstrated an ability to absorb the electromagnetic energy that surrounds the earth.
✔ Electricity detection: Similar to her father, Jennifer is able to sense and detect electrical signals in her immediate vicinity.
✔ Electrical blasts: Just like her father, Jennifer can create blasts and bolts of electrical energy and project it at her opponents. This can be as mild as a small electrical shock or as severe as a fully-formed bolt of electricity.

Jefferson Pierce has had enough. His family barely survived the occupation of Freeland by the ASA and the proceeding war with Markovia, a year ago. He lost his best friend, Henderson. And both of his daughters, and his partner, were soldiers on the front line. Blood is on all of their hands, and Jefferson has to reckon with his responsibility in all of that. He couldn’t help being a meta as much as he couldn’t help passing on powers to his daughters, but being a vigilante was a choice.
