I've owned both as well, and the black max I loved until after a year of abuse it started to mess up.. Made a hard clicking noise when setting hook etc. I paired it with a Berkley lightning rod and used for jerk baits and top water frogs with braided line, it held up very well for how much I used it... I then bought a pro max for a new primary and paired it with a duckett ghost 6'8 medium heavy action and also use it mainly with top water frogs and trick worms. I cannot complain! They have been thru so much abuse and function as they did on day one (mostly) lol. Great video btw👍🏻 I had no idea the pro max was a flipping reel, it is outstanding for frogs as well.

Great video mate! quick question to the expert, what do you think of the Abu Garcia Revo X? I am about to buy a reel tonight and seriously doubting between the Max pro and the Revo , just 25$ price difference but the Revo seems a bit higher end. I am a beginner to BC, always fished on a spinning reel.
I️ would go with the revo! It will be better for you over time. I️ still use both reels that I️ reviewed no problems so if you got the pro max u wouldn’t be disappointed.
You should just get the lew's...I started with the Pro max,lasted about a season before the gears grinded down...returned it and upgraded to the Revo sx,was a great reel for about the same amount of time,and did the same thing (gears grinded down) sucked!...Then I got a cheap lew's carbon fire from Dicks and 3 seasons in and it's still performs like newish...of course i've since upgraded to some Daiwas with Tws which are great,but I recomend Lew's def!

It's not pronounced uh-boo Garcia it's pronounced ah-boo Garcia. It makes it hard for anyone to trust what your saying if you don't know how to correctly pronounce the brand... Not hating just giving some corrective criticism
Sorry, but the way that I pronounce the reel brand does not affect my credibility. I have heard it both ways... Reason why is because everything I said comes either off the box or from my own personal experience. I have been using Abu Garcia fishing reels and rods well before I was strictly doing bass fishing. So I'm not going to change the way that I have been saying the brand name for over a decade.
I have to agree with Dalton! I'm not hating on your video, but I'm new to your channel and this is the first video i watched. I caught onto the name mispronunciation and the error where you stated the Black Max retrieval ratio drastically different the second time (when comparing it to the Pro Max),than you did originally. I'm not trying to bust your balls, but Dalton is correct. If you're going to be posting review videos and want people to take you seriously, then stuff like that is of the upmost importance. Nonetheless, great video!
He says it right. I have over 20 Ahhbooo Garcia reels. If you're correcting people on their pronouncing of a $60 reel, then you are not a serious angler. You're just trying to start crap.
They're both junk. I bought a black max reel because while I was on a work trip a had some time to fish so I needed a cheap reel to use for a day. what a piece of junk! The gears were rough and noisy after 10 casts. Just spend the extra money and buy a tatula or lews tournament pro cheap on ebay.
Oscar Velasquez There's a difference between people who make a few casts at a pond or people that fish hard day after day. Those reels are junk after a few days hard fishing.
MrCoffeekelly sorry buddy but I live on a lake and fish a good 4 days out of the week. Like I said they have worked good for me. I have other bait casters that are higher end and yes you can feel the difference but I always carry at least a couple of Garcia's on the boat. Now with that being said the rods on the black maxx suck! Now like I stated earlier I clean the hell out of them because I use them so much. I did get a Abu Ambassador S. now that thing was crap! First cast it messed up.
