In C tuning it sounds kinda like 90’s In Flames

Why? It's just every string tuned just a half tone down. Only a half note is the difference between the standard E tuning. (every note that you played in E, now just half down tuned)

Me too. And it helps that it’s only a half step up from B standard, which I can easily remember.

That was back when music was based on pure frequency relationships, the best we could do without frequency-reading technology so for example E in C major would be different than E in G major, there would be a couple cent difference

So back then, different keys using the exact same note relationships would sound different i.e. moving the root to the new root Just raw transposition didn't work like it does today, that's due to our "new" equal temperament system, when each note has a set frequency and CAN thus be the same between different keys

I wonder if that mindset had something to do with the human voice overlapping with instruments-of-the-day as well. I have not encountered the literature myself so I'm shooting from the hip. I think some keys are simply better for different singers (baritone, tenor, alto, etc.) I'm not simply talking about range, but also how they harmonize with other parts. Bass notes have different levels of impact depending on how muddy or non-muddy their tones will yield. Getting harmonized structures to still be both coherent AND deep and impactful without this muddy-dissonance is an interesting balancing beam to ponder (how low can you go?) -- try it yourself in a DAW, the experiments seem to be endless. I'm 95% certain that this literature was probably very accurate when you consider both voice and instrumentation *of the time period* . Today, instruments and vocal techniques have changed, so it's all anachronistic. However, considering how notes interact with each other across all registers throughout the entirety of the piece is a point to ponder, and therefore, a lesson to learn instead of a black and white rule to follow.

It fits really well in my opinion. Many BM songs are written in D standard, and the deep A string can add a whole new dimension. I know it's a mainstream, but Batushka even use 8-string guitars, Kragkh from Belarus too.

It's a shame he didn't include it. Hopefully next video
