Preaching to the choir. Beauty is not a fact, more of an opinion. Attempting to force said opinions only serves to further isolate them. It's not a bad thing, nor is it good
Dissection had the most beautiful black metal solos. Melodies are so mystical and charming. And the guys were so young when they made up their first albums.
There certainly aren't very many. Playing black metal by yourself is not a lot of fun in my opinion. With a band, it's awesome but by yourself it gets boring.
I like having stuff like this available for when I want to explain to someone that death/black metal isn't always just random noise and Cookie Monster vocals. Excellent composition.
Hey, you can check my full collaborative cover of "Exercices in Futility VI" on my channel :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IjS8oh_nkIE.html
My house was absolutely in chaos with the kids playing, yelling and dog barking. I started watching this video and everything stopped and they were all around my phone watching. This. Was. Cool.🤘
Wonderful representation. I think Dissection in many ways continued a tradition of Nordic folk music. In our traditional music, there is a lot of melancholy and if you go further back there was lots of horror depicted in songs.
Saw Dissection perform in 95/96 in Rotterdam for the Storm of the Lights Bane tour. Was on a school night (lol). I can remember my mom was pissed that I was too late home, but they will never take that epic night away from me. Hail Jon
Every time I get into a new black metal band you make a video on the exact band. Coincidence would be once or twice but it's happened 5 times in a row now. Are you spying on me?
+Zalkard Oh thanks bro, we don't actually have anything recorded yet but I'll put a link here as soon as I can. I genuinely do appreciate your interest.
Si Monvmentvm songs would be doable, I reckon. What about some Fas-Ite or Parakletus material? Would love to see you record 25 version of every riff and have them played slightly offset.
Awesome!! This reminds me of the time I was recording an acoustic cover of Reinkaos (the song) but I never finished it. That was almost 4 years ago, I think I should give it another go. Keep up the great vids!
Simon, this is a bloody killer rendition. Almost as if the song was meant to be on an acoustic. I would love to hear your take on some dissonant black metal like Abscission from Deathspell! Cheers!
Liked and subscribed. Good on ya man. Storm of the Light's Bane is way more than my favorite record. Hearing it when it came out 20 years ago changed my perspective on music. Always great to hear a solid cover. Skål!
Love the part where in the original it goes from acoustic sweeping and picking to distorted tremolo picking and Jon screams DIE! You absolutely nailed the feeling of that tremolo part but acoustically. Would be cool to see some Watain or something off of filosofem btw.
You actually got me into this band a long while back with your tutorial videos. Now after listening to them, I learned how to make songs and I've been doing it ever since I learned this song. Thanks for the introduction!
Mesmerizing! I just showed a piano version of this song to my grandpa after him being dismissive towards music I like (never hearing it but "knowing" what it's like (garbage) - that's what bothered me, rather than just not liking it (he def wouldn't like the original version 🤣). I need to learn this, so I can play this for him! And for myself as well... Can't stop listening to it. 😍
This is my favorite video you’ve done. And I think I’ve watched them all now. Please keep the excellent music coming. Curious how long it took to work out this arrangement? Really high level playing. Sounds amazing.
