My first concert. 14 yrs. old. I remember it like it was last year. We were by the tower in the middle. My first fry too. An older, more experienced friend excitedly came up saying he scored some yellow sunshine. Handed a little yellow pill to me and said take it. I did. Does anyone remember the water jugs being thrown? I was tripping balls with the multi-colored water trails. So vivid in my memory from 50 yrs. ago. Don't do drugs kids. I got lucky.
@@joeytacey743 Pat Daughtery. Wayne Evans Jim dandy are the 3 originals left. & then Tommy Aldridge. Whom replaced Wayne on drums back in 71-2? I miss Ricochet he was a wonderful friend.
I rank them right up there with Thin Lizzy, Blue Oyster Cult, and Mountain when it comes to underrated live bands from the 70s whose best songs (like this one) never got FM radio airplay
Jim Dandy got his teeth on! Good ol school southern boogie voodoo rock n roll. I remember driving in my 67 Galaxie listening to Black Oak Arkansas "Raunch n Roll" on 8 track. Killer stuff.
If you're gonna listen to some Black Oak Arkansas, I can't think of a better car to do it in than a 67 Galaxie! My dad had one when I was a kid. I love those cars! Especially the fastback sport versions and the convertibles!
My bluegrass band copied their boards nailed together logo and in our second album we had deed to one square inch of land in Prater’s Creek, SC, where we lived. Black Oak Arkansas had a huge influence on me starting in 1973
I became a teenager in the mid 70s and was a huge fan of all things rock! However, and don't ask me why, I knew every song from every dang rock band in the world except Black Oak Arkansas. I grew up in Maine. I don't know if it's because Black Oak Arkansas just didn't have a big following in my state or their record company didn't target Maine as a market, or what the story was. We all had every other southern rock band's albums, and rural Mainers loved southern rock, but nobody seemed to have BOA albums. I regret it that because I missed out on some damned great southern rock!
Saw Black Oak open for Grand Funk. Opened with "When Electricity Came to Arkansas". Dandy flying over the amps, does the splits, while strumming his washboard. WTF is this!!! Squeezebox was the original drummer before Dork. Goober, Burly & Ricochet on guitars, Dirty on bass guitar.
I wanted to add, David Lee Roth said he stole his stage act from Jim Dandy, but in my opinion, Jim has always been far better live. David acted, and still acts like he doesn't care to even sound good. But even though Jim is older a bit heavier he still sounds great, David Lee Roth acts more like Steve Martin today. I would much rather see BOA live over Van Halen. Molly Hatchet doesn't even have one original band member. they are a cover band now in my opinion. they still sound good, but it's a cover band. Lynyrd Skynyrd should be called the Gary Rossington band. But BOA will always be BOA with Jim Dandy. I don't understand how this has only got a 1704 views in 7 yrs. most of today's music sucks ass. I remember when R&B was rhythm and blues, not Rap and Bull Shit" what the fuck happened? I am so glad to see BOA still putting out great music. thanks again for this upload. Peace Joe
I was there, sitting between the speaker towers way in the back, beer, weed, wine , acid and 300 thousand freaks, good times. Look at david lee roths pose on their 1st album cover, right outta B.O.A. and Jim Dandy
It’s incredible how many people did it know about Black Oak Arkansas Jim dandy directly influenced David Lee Roth Im a huge fan of both . Of course Tommy Alldredge was everywhere incredible incredible drummer focused, powerful and innovative dammit I love Black Oak Arkansas

@@JackALynn-pv1ow haha. You got it. That’s what it sounds like to me when people say ‘Greetings’ (from whatever country they come from where English isn’t their first language). “I vont to suck your blood.”
Yeah I used to remember that back when I was 14 years old and man I didn't really know who these cats were and I've always liked them that's some badass Jim Jim dandy to the rescue yeah let's rock and roll people I appreciate the comment and I wanted to say something to you have a good evening bye
Back then bands played cause they loved what they did. Not to get rich, but for enjoyment. Same could be said about sports and everything else. People were happy by making everyone around them feel good. Not these obnoxious ticket prices today. Some bands would put on a free Street Party just for enjoyment. Not today. Miss those days for sure. It’s all good. Gods plan.
I looked at the first few seconds of the video and thought, "Is that Cal Jam?" I looked below and saw why yes indeedy. I wasn't there but I recognize it from Cal Jam II. Both were held at the Ontario Motor Speedway. A dust bowl of a place along with 350K of my best friends.
Sure going to miss that 12 string.I wonder if he still had it when he passed.Last time..I seen them they used accoustic guitars.it was only the singer& the gutair player. They where jamming.Love is the key. ..
